## What is 90sTV?

Television the way it used to be, made from your own films.

90sTV turns your Jellyfin library into real broadcast channels. They run whether you are watching or not. Tune in and you are in the middle of something: no menu, no picking, just programming.

Channels your way
Every film, by genre, hand-picked or driven by the hour. Cartoons in the morning, series in the afternoon, films in the evening, horror at night.

A fixed prime time
Every channel starts its main feature at the time you choose, the way an evening schedule does. The run-up fills with whatever still fits whole. And the same film never airs on two channels at once.

Commercials, if you want them
A library of your own spots plays between programmes. Nothing is fetched, nothing comes from outside. They are your clips.

A guide, and reminders
The TV guide shows what is on and what follows. Any programme can be set as a reminder, and the app will switch over by itself when it starts.

The picture from back then
Scanlines, grain, flicker, VHS tracking, tube vignette. Plus reception driven by the real weather: rain brings noise, wind makes the picture roll. Every effect can be switched off on its own.

And also
Teletext. A parental code for individual channels. A vintage filter. Your phone as a remote on the home network. Picture-in-Picture on the Mac.

On all your devices
Mac, iPad and Apple TV show the same second of the same programme. Channels, settings and reminders sync over iCloud. Your Jellyfin credentials never leave the device.

Requires your own Jellyfin server holding your films and series. 90sTV is a player. It brings no content of its own.

90sTV Premium
Yearly subscription, twelve months, renews automatically until
cancelled. Lifetime is a one time purchase and does not renew.

### 5/5 — My Favorite app!

*2026-09-29*

This app does a great job at simulating traditional broadcast TV. Full of features. The CRT effects (optional) make the experience more fun. The devs have shown commitment to the updates and improvements. Losing the control that we are familiar with in the streaming age is somehow fulfilling, more satisfactory, and overall a better experience. My kids are watching a wider variety of our families shows on 90s TV.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7 — 2026-10-10

90sTV is on iPhone now.

TV GUIDE Two weeks of programming across every channel. It lives on your iPhone and works on the move - no Wi-Fi, no television needed.
Search for a film or a series, set a reminder, and your Apple TV switches over by itself when it starts.

REMOTE Change channel, switch audio track and subtitles, teletext, and pick a channel by name.
Pair by scanning the QR code your Apple TV shows in Settings.

WIDGET Change channel straight from the Home Screen, with a still from what is on.

ALSO
• Reminders no longer appear twice, and now include the ones you set on the Apple TV
• The volume rocker only appears where it actually does something
• Changing channel from the iPhone brings the picture up on the television

### 1.6 — 2026-10-03

• A channel with several shows now runs them in rotation instead of one after
the other. A long-running show comes round more often than a short one, but
both play across the whole schedule and reach their finale together.
• Each show keeps its own episode order, multi-part stories stay back to back,
and hand-picked films are spread between the shows.
• The sound now stops when you lock your iPad. It keeps playing in
Picture-in-Picture and while streaming to another device.
• In the daily schedule, tapping "Specific Content" opened the picker above it.
It now opens the content selection.

### 1.4 — 2026-09-27

• Multi-part stories play in one piece: part two follows part one directly, and
  so on for three-parters.
• Series genres are recognised: a genre set on a series in Jellyfin now shows up
in the genre list, and a genre channel picks up that show's episodes.
• iCloud: a new device waits for your existing channels instead of creating the
  default ones straight away.
• iCloud: Settings now show "Last received" and "Last sent" separately.
• iCloud: if the channels in iCloud belong to a different Jellyfin server, the
app says so — and can bring them over.
• iCloud: anything created while iCloud was unreachable is handed over on the
  next launch.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-21

• Series genres now work: a genre set on a series in Jellyfin shows up in the
genre list, and a genre channel picks up that show's episodes. Until now only
movies and individually tagged episodes counted.
• Small improvements to subtitle selection.
