While most museum applications consist mainly of galleries and exhibit information, this one relies on intimate storytelling through the narration of actor Robert De Niro and first person accounts to get the message across. Through his words and others users will get a reflective sense of the 9/11 tragedy and how the museum is being used as a stepping stone to confront and learn from the pain and the grief. Users can interact with the app in several ways whether through audio, transcripts and for some parts video. The app is broken into five sections that focus on a specific part of the experience. Users who are at the museum can also use the app as a guide where a map will display where you are in the museum according to the exhibit. ### 4/5 — 9/11 Museum Guide *2016-05-12* Having almost lost and having family who directly lost loved ones, I found this app helpful in the sense of filling in the gaps of details I might have missed at the museum. I can appreciate the efforts in respect made by many. Nothing will ever please or make up for nor replace what or whom ever was taken. I deleted the app and reinstalled. The same problem existed. Bring ear buds/headphone with you to avoid lining up to purchase. I was able to listen to different descriptions of the exhibits. The audio clips followed the museum layout allowing me to know that I saw all the exhibits. It was nice having the audio when people crowded around the exhibit info cards. 2 problems with the app - 1) the audio requires a large download that doesn't automatically download when the app is installed. You should do this in advance of your trip if you want to avoid using your data. 2) every time my phone locked the audio would stop playing. I found myself constantly scrolling to prevent my phone from locking ### 2/5 — Good content, very poor execution *2014-08-23* The audio tracks are very informative and good to listen to throughout the museum. However, the audio stops every time you lock your phone, which will auto lock after about a minute, causing you to have to constantly unlock your phone. They should have tested the app throughout the museum while creating it, to catch egregious errors like these. ### 3/5 — Good app, 2 issues *2014-08-11* Audio stops when the phone locks which is frustrating. A cool feature would be implementing iBeacon technology so the app knows where you are in the museum and could speak according to which exhibit the visitor is viewing in the museum. ### 3/5 — Audio and locking problems *2014-07-20* I was discouraged that the app does not continue to play audio when you switch to another app like your camera; it's extremely annoying because sometimes the app "reboots" and you loose your place in the audio commentary. I was also discouraged that the app does not prevent the phone from auto locking. Several times throughout the tour, the narrator was cutoff because of this. Fix these issues, and you have a wonderful app. ### 2/5 — Content Great, Functionality Not So Much *2014-07-08* As stated in the title, the content in the app is great but the fact that the audio stops every time your phone screen goes to black is awful. I downloaded it without even reading the reviews when I was waking into the 911 Museum. It worked great throughout the exhibits, no connection issues.
