  • Most recent update killed emoji function

I have been a dedicated SwiftKey user since Apple started allowing third-party keyboards. I am appalled by the most recent update. While I use SwiftKey for text, I use Apple's emoji keyboard. I use Apple's emoji keyboard because it highlights all words in a message in orange and allows the user to convert the words into relevant emojis. This feature was compatible with SwiftKey's keyboard until the most recent SwiftKey app update. After the most recent SwiftKey update, Apple's emoji keyboard does not recognize words typed with SwiftKey and cannot highlight them in orange to allow emoji substitution. This problem was not generated by any change in Apple's software. I have tested the compatability between SwiftKey and Apple's emoji keyboard on multiple iPhones running multiple iOS versions (both current and outdated). My experimentation has conclusively revealed that the most recent SwiftKey update killed compatability between SwiftKey and Apple's emoji keyboard. I will unfortunately be unable to use SwiftKey as my primary keyboard (after years of dedication to SwiftKey) until this issue is remedied.

  • Agree with previous 1 star review

My comments are identical to reviewer QQwertyy left on 27 March. So many issues. Most recent one to provide as a apsecific example: after typing in one message for so l long it's like the capability drops. Towards the end of my half hour email I tried to type "I'm". It didn't include the apostrophe. I back spaced to "Im" to update it and it did not suggest "I'm" at all. It just suggested different variants of "disappointed osmosis".

DISAPPOINTED OSMOSIS. THATS NOT EVEN A THING ANYONE HAS TYPED, EVER. HOW IS THIS PREDICTED!!

  • Better than built in for iOS

Even though iOS had this swiping feature built in now, there are still benefits with SwiftKey.
° the number row on primary keyboard saves a lot of time
° being able to use multiple languages in one messages or email without switching keyboards is stellar (Though, I personally wish it weren't limited to two).
° I like the themes - it's a small thing, I know, but I love having the red keyboard.

Only flaw I've found is that, in this latest version, I can't remove false learnings. I press on the suggested word and it offers the option to remove it, but it never actually does. So certain words that I've accidentally created in the past can not be removed from predictions.

  • Disappointed

It appears that after each update, SwiftKey forgets all previously learned styles of typing.
The predictions which are shown when using Flow are so off mark and senseless. Regular daily used words are suddenly replaced by ridiculous place names. Flow also comes up with crazy suggestions to normal daily used words, after an update. It takes a long time and is frustrating to have a to repeatedly go back to delete a word and end up tapping out words instead of using Flow. Some words, eg. Remember, I have ended up making shortcuts in my phone's settings, simply because every single time I tried to type using Flow and remember was needed, so many random predictions kept coming up.
There needs to be an option in settings to switch off place names. I use a keyboard with an English version for Australia because there is no New Zealand English version. Generally there's no problem with this, except for all the crazy place name predictions. The US English version would be worse in this case.
Whatever used to happen long ago about SwiftKey learning about how you type and learning about your language style in order to provide appropriate predictions - no longer works.

  • My favorite and the best

I have been using swiftkey since past 5-6 years if I remember it correct. I love the app more than any other competitor apps in the store. Even though I have switched around 5 phones in these years, the keyboard I always preferred is swiftkey! It has always been my favorite. It just reads my mind and saves keyboard strokes by showing the right suggestions. Kudos team for such an amazing app.

I have one point to ask you guys for support. I love the fact that voice typing feature is introduced in this, I was waiting for it for so long. I use iPhone 7 right now and use a lot of emojis while texting. The voice typing icon is very next to emoji icon and I always accidentally presses voice typing instead of emoji icon which is so annoying and the voice typing takes me to a different page for a moment and comes back. I have to wait until I can finally switch to emoji. Could you please place voice typing icon in a different location of the keyboard where it is not near the most frequently used keys? Like if you can place it in top left or right corners or something where we can use it as and when required. Also please try to avoid the screen switching thing that happens on pressing voice typing, it's a bit exhausting for the user. Just a little feedback from my side. And that's why the 4 star. Otherwise you should definitely get a 5 star rating.

  • Used to be great, now not so much. Great if you want more typos

I’ve had Swift key for a while. I used the love it! The swiping, the customization, the autocorrect, everything. However, recently something changed, and SwiftKey has been causing me more typos than when I use my apple keyboard. For whatever reason it stopped autocorrecting a lot of the time, BUT autocorrecting me when I don’t want it to. It’s really annoying At first I thought it was a combination of my horrendous spelling and mediocre typing skills. But recently my Apple keyboard switched on, and I noticed how much faster and correctly I was typing. It was like shedding the skin that is swiftkey. I realized that it was swiftkey and not me (okay maybe a little me, but the apple keyboard is able to keep up better with and for me). One feature that I do like is the emoji searching (something apple doesn’t have) . They could improve the results though. After getting really annoyed I finally deleted Swiftkey, I’ll see if I end up downloading it again idk

  • Good as they get!

Been using this app for year's now and would not send a message without it for the simple fact of the time alone it saves you compared to other apps or even apples that comes with your phone can not compare and can not stand when my phone will change over to one of the others that is in my phone like I am not going to notice that it is not SwiftKey. This app bar none hands down is the best free app out there for messaging, if you are looking for a messaging app don't waste your time looking any further and download this one now I promise you will not regret it. It also has themes I almost forgot to mention so you can customize your keyboard to your liking which is neat specially during holidays they have themes for each holiday and all free and who doesn't like free. Hope this helps someone who is considering this free app download with their decision!

  • Why oh why???

Update! Why oh why have you put the microphone key next to the emoji key in the most recent update??? Now it's just really annoying to misadvertantly press the microphone key and get that screen up...couldn't it have gone on the other side??? It's so annoying, now that Apple have brought out a swipe keyboard i may have to change over... Really a design flaw in my mind...I've demoted the stars from 5 to 3...sorry.

This is a great keyboard, I use it exclusively and have jetisoned the use of the iPhone inbuilt. It is so good to be able to use the swipe feature and over time, the keyboard learns your words...definitely a time saving feature...why oh why do Apple not include swipe??? Anyway, a plus for Swipe keyboard. Really like the choice of colours for the keyboard too. The new 'build your own' keyboard is a good addition. Definitely worth getting this app...

  • Great App But could be Improved

This app is amazing but I would like to suggest a few improvements that this app could have.

Firstly, I wish you could change your keyboard from your SwiftKey keyboard instead of going into the app.

Secondly, I think you should be able to change the font of your keyboard and the words you type.

Finally, my last suggestion is that you should be able to animate your customised keyboards like the bubblegum, snowy and shooting star keyboards.

I think that this app is great but I would love if you could maybe add some of these suggestions to SwiftKey keyboards.

Note: PLEASE ONLY ADD THINGS TO THE KEYBOARD NOT GET RID OF THINGS AS THIS APP IS AMAZING!🥺

P.S. I hope I haven’t missed anything because you may actually be able to do some of these things already.

  • Love!!!

I don't know what I'd do without this app!!! Actually Yea I do!!! I'd be spending a hell of a lot more time typing!!! Thank you SwiftKey!! The only disadvantage is not having the option to go into SwiftKey settings to view/edit the "dictionary" that is automatically created specifically as I use the App! I'll keep checking back after any updates the app has just in case this feature is added!! Or if there is an option to do so but I've somehow over looked it, please let me know!! There's quite a few words I've misspelled while rushing that saved in my "dictionary" of words, some aren't even words!! Very frustrating having one of those pop up several times while I'm typing! Even worse when I correctly spell words but SwiftKey will change/substitute it to my accidental jibberish 😳😐!! Now these nonsense words are piling up and popping up way too often!!! Very frustrating! I still feel it's a five star app just give us the option to edit our dictionary!! Thanks SwiftKey!!!
