So, I initially installed this app because the regular iPhone keyboard was terrible at predicting my Spanglish and because of the beautiful choices of aesthetics it provided. I’m bilingual and I’m constantly switching between the two. Swiftkey was excellent at first doing this, but as time passed not only did the bilingual perk went away, it doesn’t even predict correctly for just one language. It constantly suggests words that I do not use and it doesn’t improve because it does not add the words I’m using. Also, I reserve my right to cuss and for some God forsaken reason it won’t let me do that either it just switches it with another similar completely unrelated word. I decided to give the standard iPhone keyboard a try and it just turns out it is either pretty much the same, similar or better than Swiftkey was at first. Nevertheless, I don’t need the ongoing struggle Swiftkey was giving me so I deleted the app and stayed with the original. Hence, this review because I’m open to coming back if the developers fix all of the issues I’ve been and everyone’s been complaining about.

  • Why so much information to protect privacy?

You asked for google access to prove my age to then ask for access to my emails?! What purpose would that be for? After that you asked me to prove my birthday... Sounds like you just wanted access to my emails

I then want to look at your privacy statement and am intrusive third party cookie needs to be accepted first.

I like your tool but your need for the personal information and your use of this party cookies may not out way the benefits you provide

  • Claims to support Māori but....

Missing the ā ē ī ō ū characters that are necessary for typing in this language. Please rectify ASAP.

Also makes some really stupid mistakes which I have to backspace and correct all the time.

Does, however, if you are careful to keep your swipes accurate, allow you to type far quicker than a traditional keyboard.

  • Not pleased

I have had this app just about a year now. Having the ability to swipe and not chicken peck on a cellphone to send text and email is huge, but some basic features on this app are inconsistent and worse than earlier versions or similar apps (hard to know switching from Droid to Apple). For instance, as others have mentioned, it completely forgets previous frequently used words not even suggesting them, instead inputs words I have never used or selected. Where do they come from? I have never heard or seen anyone use this crazy/foreign/ dated language.
It does not appear to be improving with usage, as I thought was implied. And to the above point, I use similar language frequently and I don't know why I often have to repeatedly correct it from crazy words I never use. Why isn't it improving?
Next, when I begin typing a word or compete a word and it offers a suggestion and I choose that word from the suggestion box it does not input it but leaves the few letters I typed and enters a space after the incomplete word, or just enters a space after the wrong word. I have to go back and select the word again or completely type the word myself. What's the use in suggestions then?
I am growing increasingly frustrated with this app and beginning to question if chicken pecking might be faster and more hassle-free.

  • Great app, 2 major problems.

I love this app and all of the features it has, especially the slide-to-text feature. It works very well and I use it a lot. Although, there are a couple of things that really, really annoy me about this app.

    1. When you misspell something, it doesn't underline the word in red telling you it's misspelled. The auto-correct function does not do as well as the standard, Apple keyboard does, even when texting normal opposed to the sliding feature.

    2. You cannot use Siri to type for you with this keyboard. On the standard apple keyboard, there is a microphone icon in the bottom right corner of the keyboard where you can speak and it will type for you, SwiftKey does not offer this feature unfortunately, which is very annoying to me and seems like a main feature they would have. Overall, this application is great and I use it daily. I urge SwiftKey to fix these few issues and I think it would put them on the top!

  • Great keyboard, but!!!!

Great keyboard. A load better than the apple default keyboard. The latest version of this app is not tailored to iphone se screen size. Predictive text now too small and some predicted words can not even be shown. There is lots of wasted space on the right side of the predicted words that could be utilised.

There is one major feature missing. The two-finger trackpad which apple now has on its default keyboard is not in SwiftKey. Put that option in and you get 5/5 stars from me.

  • SwiftKey "We" problem

I find this keyboard app to be just what I need on my iPhone 8 plus. It is easy to set up and works pretty well. The only issue I have is writing "We" at the start of a sentence. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I always just end up with "E" instead of We. Apart from that annoyance, it's a great app and very quick to use.

  • Used to be much better

I loved this keyboard until a few updates ago when it forgot my writing style and vocabulary. Ever since then, it has actively resisted learning the words I frequently use. It honestly feels like censorship because these are words that adults use and I use them ALL THE TIME. I thought it was supposed to learn from ME . . . It always suggests something else. It's a miracle when it actually DOES remember. Which is only with words that don't have many potential replacements.

Today it began to make ridiculously loud click sounds, even near the lowest volume setting on my phone. I had to turn off the key clicks on it because it was too much. I'm on a 6s with the newest OS.

I really hope that this keyboard can be made to once again work with me, rather than against me. Some of the suggestions/corrections are just plain awful. Especially for names. They should allow us to add words if they can't fix this.

  • Needs improvement although best for me

I tried Word Flow and Gboard keyboards before I settled on this keyboard. Word Flow is deprecated so there is no point discussing it. Gboard has a couple of features that are nicer than this keyboard - example, searching emojis. However, the predictive capabilities of this keyboard are much better than Gboard or any other keyboard including Apple's built-in keyboard. This is why I keep using it. The negatives of this keyboard for me are:
    1) Inability to search for emojis.
    2) The predictive text bar doesn't show up in some situations but I can't tell what the reason is.
    3) The emojis move around - especially the first part and if you try to send multiple emojis of the same type you may end up sending some other emojis if you keep tapping in the same spot. It doesn't make sense for the frequently used emojis to move while you are using them.
    4) The period key doesn't have a single quote option. I find this annoying as I use it all the time. It would be nice to be able to customize what punctuation options are available on the period.

  • Only two languages

I gave SwiftKey a shot because the autocorrection of the standard keyboard especially for Finnish is absolutely horrible, and Apple provides no way to enable autocorrection per language. (It's absolutely necessary for e.g. Spanish due to have use of accents). However I regularly type in English, Finnish, Spanish, and sometimes German, and SwiftKey only supports two languages.... and makes it extra clumsy to switch to a specific standard keyboard. It's OK if it only supported two languages at a time, but it only supports two languages at all, having to go all the way to the settings app to change them. It would be good if I could e.g. fix English as one of the languages, and quickly switch the second language as with the standard keyboard. Why does the space bar only allow switched layouts and not between multiple languages?
