  • Simple and effective

I use this app for a few types of spending that I need to be strict with; coffee, work lunches etc. The app is laid out beautifully and is a breeze yo use.

The only thing I would add is the ability omit a certain amount of days from a budget when calculating the daily limit. For example; I like to use the daily view for my work lunches to know how much I can spend, however I do not use it at the weekend so technically I could have more for each work day.

  • So easy

I can now track what I’m spending and plan.

    Great tool.

    So easy to use
  • Can’t recommend enough.

This simple app turned my savings around. It’s fantastic and having it on my watch as well as my phone is great.

I’ve recommended it to a few friends, it has worked for them too. The only one it didn’t was one who got annoyed when it told him he had no money left halfway through the month.

Set a realistic amount and stick to it. The straightforward colouring makes it easy to stay on track 🙂

  • Not as great as it used to be

I have been using this app for over a year. It was always great, but lately it’s been misbehaving and I find it frustrating. It’s a little laggy. When I try to add or spend money, the app lags before it will move onto that operation. The iCloud syncing has been terrible. I have had to delete the app on my phone and iPad multiple times because they just won’t sync properly anymore. I’m not sure what happened. This app was awesome when I first started using it, but it’s going downhill. :(

  • Rarely write reviews.

I rarely write reviews, I think this might be my third one ever. But I love this software. It is absolutely perfect for my needs. I’ve been using it for quite a few years now. I like to keep my budget extremely simple, only two categories, non-variable expenses and variable expenses. And I like to track my budget by week rather than month. Pennies has been excellent for this. It has been a key part of moving my life from a life of debt to a life with enough extra funds to put a large chunk in savings in addition to doing a foreign vacation at least twice a year.

  • Pretty good but

I can see that a lot of the bugs are fixed even for Apple watch. I like that. The only thing that this app needs now is to have ‘fortnightly’ as an option since most people get paid fortnightly.
  • Simple to track in real time

Easy to use if you just want to track your spending on real time.
  • THE best app for a budget

I've been using apps like this for the past several years, to ensure I don't spend more than I have each week. I've probably downloaded 20+ similar apps and paid for five. This is by far the best that I've found.

It's dead simple. No useless categories. Set your budget at your desired interval. Enter your expenses manually, so that you're aware of your budget each and every time you buy something.

The only thing that could be improved is to reduce the taps required to enter an expense amount. Right now you have to click the New Entry button, and click the Expense/Income button. These could be displayed simultaneously to reduce the taps.

Also, cents don't really matter (at least for me, I just round up for each entry) so it would be even faster to have only full dollar amounts, which further speeds up entry by not having to click 00 for each entry.

  • Good app with a major flaw

I have been using this app for the past 2 weeks on both my apple watch and iphone, and for the most part I love it - just the general ease of use

However, I tend to use it way more on my watch because it just tends to be more convenient (and is the reason why I bought it in the first place, because this app is on the watch) UNLESS it doesn't sync up.

So after I input the day's spendings into my watch, more than half the time it appears nicely in the phone. However, quite a number of times I look at the phone app and nothing has been transferred over. I think ok, no big deal, I'll just give it time to sync. And this is where the problem arises: when it actually syncs, my phone data is the one used to sync to my watch! So from a day full of spendings, I suddenly have $0 spent and no records of any spendings.

This is the single crippling issue I face with the app. I'd give 5 stars in a heartbeat if this problem was solved. Otherwise, I'll probably switch apps because this issue makes the app unusable for me.

  • Convenient, Easy, Reliable and Simple

What’s great about pennies is that unlike other apps you can pull out and see at a glance how much money you have left for the day/month in your budget/account. It is not a complicated comprehensive analysis of your finances. It is great for a spending account. I love how the app adapts your daily “allowance” based on your spending. The app is beautifully designed and is very pleasant to use.

I would like to see an account sync version on the Mac with supported security. Sometimes I forget to enter my expenses so this sync feature would help correct my ways. For what the app set out to do the app has earned the 5 stars and has earned it in a beautiful way.
