Catawiki for Canadians

With no notice I received a heavy handed and rude email that I had somehow breached their obscure rules. My offence…. I was Canadian. Even though I had already bid on, paid for and won two items, I was now banned. I Asked for an explanation and got a lot of nonsense about data they collect and how they want to make it a good experience for everyone…..everyone except Canadians I guess. Avoid the app and Catawiki. They make it up as they go along and have a deep bias against Canada. Strangely, the U.S is ok.

Experts

To try and put an item forward for auction seems totally dependent on some ‘EXPERT’ ( I use the phrase loosely), to decide on a derogatory reserve ( for all we know they are setting you up with some gallery to steel you item at a low price to flog on later at an inflated price? Who knows?

If my reserve is higher than you think is correct for an item …… what have you to lose?? I sell .. you get the commission … if not then no problem we all move in 🤷🏼‍♂️

It is our item WE DECIDE THE RESERVE !!!! Thank you

Dear Sir/Madam, Thanks for your review, sorry to hear that you are disappointed. We always aim for a suitable RP. If it is too high and not met, the item will end up not sold and it will be reauctioned again with a revised/lower RP. This also means it will take a longer time for your item to be sold. Please know that RP does limit the final price once it is reached. If your item gains a lot of interest, it can go as high as possible, as long as there is a bid.

If you live in Canada, then don’t waste your time with this App. For some unknown reason, starting this week, Catawiki has blocked all Canadians from bidding. Unfortunately, I could not give a negative star rating.
This site is not like eBay you will pay a commission even if you do not receive the item. Read the fine print.

App is FUBAR

Alert system does not work. Interface that was once easy to use has been changed for the worse.

The App is not working on ipad

Everything was working very well and I bought somevery good items on it. Since a couple of weeks the app is no more optimized for ipad. Some screens are not set up as for a phone format and not an ipad which make very difficult the evaluation of the item you want to buy.
Wang it will work again I ll put a better grade.

Bad customer service

I bid on an item which I won, I know that in general Thailand not supported by app but the seller has Thailand listed in his deliver options (I am currently staying here fir work) m. I wanted to send seller a msg but was unable to so selected Thailand to check what price was quoted. My account was immediately blocked and I was unable to pay for the goods or change back to UK address. Customer service would not help. Very disappointing. I use other auction sites regularly to buy art, antiques etc without issues.

Nonexistent customer service

Be careful of what you buy because if you have an issue you’re on your own. It took a significant amount of time to find a way to email them and it took forever to get a reply. The reply I got was incoherent and completely unrelated to my issue.
App doesn’t even give you a customer service option.
I never got an item I won a bid on and all I got was crickets. I was on my own.
