Nothing short of Exceptional

A great app with SO many options. Purchased two pieces from app and received them timely.

Incredible poor response

I have had nothing but horrible responses to inquiries about lots before bidding!
On thé few contested lots I purchased, which were incorrect and borderline fraudulent, I was refunded my bid and a token credit for my trouble and returning the item. Overall some interesting lots, but it is most definitely buyer beware.
The real issue is horrible communication from the sellers, and catiwiki “experts

Be careful! Very careful!

I purchased a lot of items on Catawiki and most of the times the transacrion happens without a glitch. But when it goes wrong it really goes wrong. The service has some real crooks operating as sellers. I had an instance of buying an “antique” rug that turned out to be a fake. And recently I was sold a Keith Haring “original” limited edition poster that turned out to be a digital copy. The worse is that Catwiki acts as if they care but in gavt they drag their feet. In the one ends up having to deal with the crooks directly! Shame, because it could be a good business model. But it is badly managed with poor customer care!

Dubious

I would say that around half the things labeled authentic, old or vintage are fake, counterfeited or falsely represented. But the other half are sorta okay. I’ve bought a bunch of things, and yeah, many are wrong.

Buyer watch out

Very sketchy website. I’d avoid. The items aren’t great or unique and the prices are bad plus the shipping is always outrageous . Try Design Addict or stick to eBay and Craigslist . This place is a rip off. The five star reviews seem fake. Lots of spelling and grammar issues in them.

Unfair

Do not order on this platform in this period of COVID-19 pandemic.

People are in quarantine and lots are not going be shipped. Despite this critical situation, Catawiki is still asking payments to be done as soon as possible with no guarantee the package will be delivered within the pre-established delivery times.

In short, the platform is asking immediate payments for a service that cannot be guaranteed. The risk is to pay immediately and wait months for the packages to be delivered. In my personal experience, I have been waiting 2 months for a lot that still has to be shipped. I asked for a full or partial refund but, I have been told to stay still and wait because nothing can be done.

Rather than offering other solutions like competitors are doing, such as paying part of the lot in order to get the ownership and, when it can be shipped, pay the rest. They force you to pay in full, threatening to block your account and make you pay fees and penalties over the lots you have not paid.

One word can describe all this: unfair.

This is so wrong

The majority of the reviews are so bad. Looking through antique jewellery - and I know my gold from every country, (how can 10k be demanding such high prices 🤣🤣🤣, and I also know my diamonds, particularly the 3 C’s....therefore I’m potentially as much an expert as their ‘experts’....well if you are given an ‘experts’ opinion as to authenticity, value based upon what I can only assume is the experts view of an items authenticity yet then advised that it is at your own risk to determine what they are already advising you of from an expert perspective, then this in my opinion is some extremely questionable ‘expert’ advice! Also, how can anyone....even an expert judge the quality of a diamonds colour, clarity and carat from a few photos and be expected to bear the responsibility of their consumer opinion??

In what I have seen, what I have read and now based upon the reviews I shall say au revoir, goodbye, farewell to this online auction site and be thankful I haven’t purchased anything.

If it looks great, sounds great, is authenticated and valued as being genuine yet left to you to be the final ‘expert’ in respect of the items authenticity colour, clarity, carat and therefore the value then run while you still have your money in your bank 🙈

BUYER BEWARE should most definitely be advertised!!!

Shipping

Just try to send a message to seller asking some questions about shipping b4 u bid but u just can’t find that info that can contact seller, what a great app?

Terrible customer service

If no issue with your item its great. But if there is a problem; the customer service is terrible. No response after many followup.

I really really miss the red dots that described if a search had any hits, one of the most important features and it is sadly gone in one of the updates.

Now, If there I have a saved search and I want to know if there is an article matching, I have to go back to the search button and type it in and repeat this for each saved search...
