Tactical Grid Based Masterpiece!

Darksouls level of challenge. You will be engaged and mentally stimulated.

An excellent game. I’m glad it’s still here on iOS! Worth the price and some.

Features:
• Excellent campaign w/ voice acting & art
• Online PvP
• Player vs. Ai
• Hot seat (pass & play)

Multiplayer question

I’m wondering if you can still play this game online?

Not bad

Not bad, it seems to be the board game all there just without the extra hardware such as actual dice throwing.
But there’s no save function for mid battle and battles can take half an hour.
That’s just a no go for mobile for me so unfortunately it’s a delete.
Also hasn’t been updated for latest screens.

Enjoyable but slow and occasionally glitchy

The game is generally fun to play, but there’s no way to expedite opponents game speed in campaign mode and, without being able to save progress on half-played campaign levels, the game will occasionally turn off forcing to restart from the beginning of the level.

Good but unbalanced

Well made game with good production values. Enjoying single player but multiplayer has a problem. Whoever plays the bad guys can just spam 6 demon lords making them almost impossible to beat. This concentrates their force into fewer units meaning they can move a greater percentage of their army and attack with a greater percentage each turn. It also means that when they are hit they are less likely to lose a unit. There is no advantage to fielding an army with more units spread out. We have played each game type and in each case 6 chaos lords defeats whatever is sent against them. The roc warrior is not as strong. I have the board game and it only comes with one chaos lord. This should have been the limit set on the app too.

Great game for board game lovers

I love tabletop war games and Fantasy Flight, so I love this app. People complaining about the game taking too long are clearly looking for a different kind of app. For iOS games it takes a long time, but for board game lovers it's what you'd expect. The balance didn't bother me, as the AI isn't the best, so it seems fair that it would have certain advantages. It's funny to me that some people think it's too hard to beat. Again, they're probably not tabletop dice game fans, as this is part of the experience for me. When so many games are dumbed-down these days, I like the potential to lose and refine my strategy. I beat the game the day I got it and continue to play. It's too bad no one plays online, but solo gamers can play both sides or the AI. I'm hoping for more content to be released!

Great game!

Interesting and compellingly deep turn-based tactical combat, with excellent campaign mode. It is very challenging and even if you are making good decisions, the AI will win from time to time, but I wouldn’t say the virtual dice are rigged as some others suggest. With randomness, improbable results do occur and good strategy helps to mitigate that over time. Would be nice to see better set-up for online multiplayer - e.g. like Lords of Waterdeep, Terra Mystica or Through the Ages, but this is worth it for the single player campaign alone.

Too small on IPhone 5s

If you have a small screen like on the iPhone 5s or earlier it's not worth playing this without a magnifying glass. It will ruin your eyesight. It is much better on an iPad mini or higher. Some zoom capability is needed for smaller screens or you need reading glasses. The game combat is frustrating. I play the he board game so I’m disappointed that the combat doesn’t reflect probabilities provided by the board game dice.

Like it but ...

I like it a lot but there should be a way to get expansions on the app to BattleLore.

Terrible.

Terrible. Not worth the money.
