  • Almost essential to get the most out of Zwift

Quite good but needs some improvements - often jumps to a different screen even though you didn’t ask it to; can be difficult to navigate / find certain functions once in a ride. Overall could be more intuitive, hence the 80%.
  • Love Zwift but Companion App constantly drops out

(update solution found to constant drop outs - turn on aero plane mode and then turn WiFi in. Works perfectly. Seems that iPhone switches between WiFi and mobile which causes companion app to drop out. Must be in same WiFi and WiFi frequency as Zwift game. Must also been logged in to same Zwift account in Zwift game and Zwift companion app).

My biggest issue with the companion app is that it constantly drops out and doesn’t reconnect. It’s very frustrating when in a group ride or event. Can’t chat or use power ups. I don’t understand why the companion app needs to be on the same WiFi as the Zwift game. Why? If the user is the same, the companion app should just work. Very frustrating. When the app works…..Select your events on this app ahead of tine and schedule the meeting directly in your calendar. Can view your recent activity rides and view your performance metrics. Great to text chat to others in game. Provides a good map that you can view at three different zoom. If you’re sweeping in a group ride, you can see nearby riders which helps when sweeping. I love Zwift and I love this app. Note you must have your phone and main Zwift (ie on computer or appletv) all on the same WIFI for the companion app to link to your Zwift ride.

  • Don’t Zwift without it

I love the Companion app. It puts me completely in control of my Zeifting experience without having to reach for a keyboard. Especially helpful with workouts letting me manage load, ERG and skip sections if needed. Also let’s you shower the ride ons via the map screen or individually via the Zwifters tab. When I’m not Zwifting I can see who is and plan my next event. Totally indispensable.

  • Good but needs work.

Really awesome app with great features but there are a number of issues that need addressing.

The first is that it desperately needs a landscape mode. I can only use my phone sideways because of my headphones or charger so this is extremely inconvenient.

It also needs a way to browse the workouts that are in the full app menu. Not having access to this is quite strange.

Community made workout support would also be greatly appreciated.

  • Dropout

It’s great when it’s working but after the last update it’s seems there’s a problem with the connection.
  • Apple Watch issue

Love this app but for some reason the Apple Watch app no longer connects to the iPhone app meaning I can’t see my heart rate. I’ve got the latest updates, tried closing and restarting the app but nothing seems to work.
  • Apple TV issues

I have a Saris H3 controllable trainer that works fine with Apple TV without use of the companion app, but since Apple TV has only had 2 Bluetooth inputs I need the companion app if I want to use more, such as using a Sterzo steering device. When using the companion app, you lose all of the resistance changes when encountering gradient changes.. the trainer goes from smart to dumb, which is dumb. I’ve tried everything to reset everything but cannot get it to work. In short, don’t bother using the companion app with Apple TV, it just doesn’t work as it should.

  • Why?

I use this app daily and what makes it really annoying is I have to. Nobody uses this app through choice. Why not just write the pc software properly in the first place so I don't need an app?
The functions it does have, it executes with no finesse or intuition.
1 star only because it works, zwift really do need to shake up the software development team
    :(
Edit: i cant even submit a review without thinking of a nickname that isn't taken

  • Great for planning and stalking my cycle buddies!

The perfect app for checking up on your cockle clubs mates rides! Knowing what they are going to be putting out when we return to group riding is a great advantage to have. I then know how much slower we I’ll be!

No this app is great, allows me to pan routes ahead of time and know when my team mates are riding so I can ride along with them too. I’d like to see the ability to select kit built into this for when I’m running low on time for an event so I can get the right kit equipped before starting the ride! But overall great app

  • Zwift’s Achilles Heel

Preface, I really enjoy Zwift and think it’s a great platform. However, the Companion App is rubbish.

My main Zwift setup is the latest generation Apple TV, iPhone 11 Pro, Apple Watch 6, Wahoo cadence sensor, and a Wahoo Kickr. I’m very familiar with using Bluetooth and what causes issues.

Since the Apple TV has limited Bluetooth connections I have to use the companion app. Using HR with the Apple Watch through the companion app works about 10% of the time. Generally in the initial connection the Apple Watch will connect, and transmit HR. When actually getting into the game the watch says pairing, and Zwift says no signal. For about a week I had ok luck if before each ride I deleted all the Zwift apps, power cycled all the devices and then reinstalled the apps.

I’ve tested just about every combination, the weak link is the companion app.

I’ve been using Zwift for 5 years now. If I was a new user going through this I doubt I’d stick with it out I’d frustration. At this point I’m hooked.
