  • Huge drawback by limiting historical data access!

I wanted to love this app, but the company decided to make money by limiting your access to your own data. Their 2 stars are for the app development which is smooth. There is no justified reason I shouldn’t be able to access pictures that are taken by me and stored on the phone. The company should rethink their strategy on profit. A few ideas for you: cloud backups, advanced features such as goal coaching and advanced reporting. I’m manually moving my data over to another app. I’ll come back when you fix this huge flaw.

To people considering this app: I tested it out for 6 days and found I could access my previous days summary beyond 7 days which was a huge deal breaker for me.

  • Won’t keep using

Decent app aside from the fact that you only can keep a 7 day log w the free version. It removes past days to stay at 7, so kind of pointless if you’re trying to keep track of what you eat over a period of time for health reasons. And I can’t imagine any food app being worth $5.99 a month but esp not this one. I understand people might want to pay for extras but you should at least be able to do the very basics w the free version (save your meals w/o losing them. That’s the point of the app and the only reason I downloaded.) Won’t keep using it because it removes the days I’ve filled in anyway. The app also doesn’t work great w the iphone x. Trying to save a new eating time is impssible - would NOT be worth it to pay. Wish there was a similar app for free. (Lowering my rating because developer response didn’t address any of my points lol).

Thank you for your feedback. By upgrading to premium, you can unlock the missing history. And save your data as long as you want. We do offer a 7-day free trial to premium to get to know all the features we offer. The premium features are developed according to the wishes of our app users.
  • I like it, BUT...

I have to give this app the three stars because it’s been so helpful to me. Just taking that picture before I eat makes me much more mindful.

That said, I’ve been using the paid version for two months and the premium features just aren’t worth it. to me. It’s a pain to upload data every six days, and the pdf it creates is arranged with the most recent date at the top, which drives me crazy. It also doesn’t save more than a small snippet of my daily notes. What a disappointment! For this price, I’d expect it to save ALL my information, including the meal-level notes and information. No such luck, sadly.

Since I found myself usually using the phone’s regular camera and saving to my gallery anyway (to adjust image quality since you can’t do that in the app), I think I’m going to quit this and just make my own format for keeping the diary.

Hi Saltorian. Thank you for your good insight. We are thinking about changing the 6-day share date arrangement. You are right, it is not the most logical as it is now. We are soon launching updates for premium users, I hope there are some new interesting features that you might like too. To get some features in you are wishing for, please use the "give feedback" tap, so we'll have a chat with you about your needs.
  • Not very happy now that they have my money

I purchased the premium upgrade. My money was taken out quickly but there is no information about how to access the added features. It looks the same as the free version. Very disappointed . I sent an email and was told to contact the App Store, but again was never given any additional information or even an email address to send my inquiry to. I feel like I have been ripped off and discarded. Not a good way to treat a new customer.

  • I felt like I was bully

I Loved this app simplicity. That was all I needed at this moment in my work with acupuncture doctor who is healing my digestive issues.

But the was problem. Every time I log my food a friendly add will pup in middle of the screen. The only way to get ride of it is to press it, and that takes me to the next level/payed version app. I do not need the next level and I have no patience for mouving my screams back and forth 🙄🙄🙄😡 so after 1day I’m looking for different app.

Suggestion: I understand you need to pay your bills. So sell your simple version for $1 and take your add off. Then place links of your different option apps in my main page - if I need more support I will buy it. Thx.

There should be a white x-sign where you can close the popups. I am wondering could it be that they are not working for you, for some reason? We'd love to hear more about this and fix if there should be a bug. You can send us more details about your phone model and experience by using the "Give feedback" feature on the settings page. Looking forward to hearing from you.
  • Clever and unique

What a clever and unique app. I think it is very helpful for those of us who yo-yo diet. I use the paid version which really works as a coach rather than just a recording app. The people who developed the app use a very holistic and step by step approach to building healthy eating habits. I think it is clever how they translated the approach into a coaching app. Keep in mind, if all you’re looking for is a food recording app for your own diet (Keto, paleo etc...), this is really something different than that as this program is based on the balanced plate theory (1/2 produce, 1/4 protein, 1/4 carbs).

We are always grateful to hear this news - that someone has grasped the essence of our concept and benefited from it. Thank you so much for sharing this with us and opening it to others as well. Great to have you with us!
  • Well..it WAS great

I loved this app. But you have taken a feature away that needs to come back. The ability to adjust the time the meal was eaten is gone. The whole purpose of me getting this app was so I could take a quick pic and then go back later and make notes and adjust times. And sometimes I completely forget to take a pic but I always go back and make notes and adjust the time. The eating plan I am on, we have to eat every 3-4 hours. This app won’t work for tracking that anymore if I can’t go back and fix where I forgot to log my meals/snacks. I even paid for premium bc I lived it so much. Now I may regret that decision if the time can’t be edited.

  • Keeps me on track

This app is wonderful. I have committed to using it and bought the upgrade in order to have a photo record of four weeks of meals. Using this app has made me more mindful of what food choices I make - if I have to take a photo before I can eat it, I am less likely to make bad choices.

I need to reduce and have been using See How You Eat in combination with another app called Diet Coach. I have lost 13 pounds so far and am very motivated to continue.

  • adjustments needed

I just downloaded it today. I like the simple, easy way to record what I eat without having to record calories and nutritional data. One problem is that if I write on the picture, I cannot see the words. If there was a color option or we could space down to the bottom it would be nice. Also, I don’t like that we can only record a week. That is the killer for me. I’m using Foodility instead unless I see changes.

  • More options would be good

I wish there were more options to add additional snacks and modify times. I also wish you could print out a monthly or weekly views for better comparison and to help make changes over time. Lastly, I wish I could alter my start date so I didn’t have a bunch of blank days from when I downloaded the app to when I started using it.
