  • Indigenous Ancestry

Just seen the new update for indigenous ancestry for South America. Why doesn’t 23andMe do that for North America as well. My indigenous dna is from the southeastern party of the United States (North Carolina) to be exact is where my indigenous ancestors lived. Why doesn’t 23andMe do a better job of identifying that? Don’t tell me it can’t be done because it can! Thankfully to Ancestry DNA I know my Native American comes from Indigenous-North which is totally correct. 23andMe you need to do better with your regions. I’m sorry, but your company lags behind Ancestry when it comes to pinpointing regions and you should be able to do it with anyone that’s getting indigenous coming up in their results. I like 23andMe and I feel this company can be very great, but you need to start listening to your customers because you just don’t have enough features or added detailed information that makes it interesting. Kind of disappointed that only South American Indigenous got a huge update and not other regions.

  • This company needs a lot of improvement

I’m giving it 2 stars because it’s really underwhelming with this company. The only two things I’m happy with are my ethnicity results and my maternal haplogroup breakdown. Those were the most interesting, but other than that I’m bored with everything else. Compared to Ancestry DNA, 23andMe needs a ton of improvement. I’m able to see my parental inheritance, plus shared matches that are on my maternal and paternal side without having to have either one of my parents tested and sooooo much more. 23andMe has a vague relatives list that only shows 1500 unless you pay more. Why would I pay for a membership when I can’t even see HOW I’m related to my newfound relatives that I know nothing about? At least with Ancesty we can get an idea of which side our family comes from. I don’t mind paying for memberships when I’m getting so much out of them, but it doesn’t seem worth it with your company. Until you do better and add more features that make it actually interesting then I’ll consider. After getting our results it’s super boring and you really have nothing else to offer except health results for an additional fee. Not everybody is interested in health information. I think this company is good for DNA results and learning about your haplogroup but that’s it. I really hope to see changes in the near future because as of right now it’s disappointing ☹️

  • Stupid app

The App used to be simpler to follow. Every time they move the information and it is hard to navigate
  • It seems like nobody is taking responsibility.

After my test results came out, I was unable to download my own raw data. Despite attempts to contact customer service for assistance, calls went unanswered as no one picked up. Left with no other option, I communicated via email, where I was asked to provide proof of purchase and shipping documents for the kit. Subsequently, they requested my ID information, which I provided.

According to the written communication from customer service, I was supposed to receive my raw data within 1-3 weeks. However, it has been over two weeks now with no feedback. Calls to customer service still result in a busy signal.

  • Terrible app

It’s awaful how there’re participating in the erasure of Palestinian people and denying people genuine answers about their heritage.
  • Palestine erasure

Deleting this app. Won’t be back until you recognize Palestine.
  • They do not recognize Palestine

They are practicing erasure of the Palestinian dna. Do not support this company. Shame on 23/me
  • Does not recognize palestine as a country

Shame that they would take out a whole plot of land on earth. What reason is there for that?
  • Do not recognize my identity

They refuse to recognize Palestine in their testing.
  • Does not recognize Palestine as a country

This test does not acknowledge or test Palestinian DNA and has been labelling Palestinians who take the test of having ancestry of nearby countries like Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria. This is extremely misleading to those users as they are not being provided with accurate results from your product for no justifiable reason (other than erasing Palestinian heritage). Whether it was the intention or not, that is what you as a company are contributing to. Extremely reprehensible behaviour from a global corporation.
