  • Pure Poetry

This is a wonderful game. I initially thought it would be just another a cute little puzzle game, but it is so much more. The puzzles are great, requiring just enough thinking to get you through them. However, the combination of excellent script writing and a very talented voice artist transform an otherwise unremarkable puzzle game into poetry. It plays like a children’s book, but with deeper themes that wrestle with depression, anxiety and existentialism. This is a must-play for anyone who has every been depressed or loves someone who struggles with depression. I wouldn’t be surprised if this game eventually makes its way into the cannon of middle school or high school curriculum.

  • Amazing

I pretty much never review apps but once I got to the end of this game I knew I had to. This is a wonderful little game with absolutely beautiful graphics. The puzzles are really unique and some of them were decently challenging but nothing too crazy. My only tiny negative was that I wanted more story but that’s just because I loved it so much! The story that is there is really compelling and heartfelt. However, even if you don’t pay any attention to the story, it’s still a great puzzle game. I found the movement of the character relatively easy to control except when moving directly towards the camera when it’s more zoomed in. Not hard but just a little bit of a pain. Otherwise, excellent game that I may just have to play again. Thanks developers!

  • Great puzzles

I really love the gameplay (just a lot of fun puzzles) and the beautiful graphics! Why one less star? The melodramatic pity party story. I get where they are going, sadness and depression are part of the experiences we sometimes go through in life (been there, done that) but geez, feeding into that is not how you get out of that. And since I chose to get out of that space, I’m not feeling it. But to each their own I guess. I just wish they gave an option to skip the cry fest, but you can’t; they make you sit through it.
Also, fun tidbit: the last animation, Ember is rowing but the devs forgot to actually paint in a paddle LOL

  • Beautiful.. would not recommend if you’re depressed

A very beautiful game, with a very deep meaning. I really don’t have words. It’s gorgeous artwork and the storyline is beautiful. It’s just a little hard bc is it entirely about death and accepting the end. It’s bc I am very sick and have depression that it’s left me feeling very numb. It’s not the developers fault it’s just my own things going on. But I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone struggling with facing death. I’d maybe recommend for someone who has recently lost a loved one. The game itself is an amazing game tho. Wouldn’t change anything about it. It’s absolutely beautiful. And the ending was perfect.

  • Adorable

This is a adorable game that gives the loving message that’s it’s okay to be sad and scared about what lies ahead, but that’s it’s not all like that and you will find warmth… at the next campfire!

I love all the cute little embers and the puzzles. I just beat the game and I needed to tell you how amazing it is! I could literally ask for nothing more! Well actually now that I think about it, maybe a little log of things you need to do and all of the forlorns you have to save. Because well I forgot to give the lotus seeds to the cook and I don’t like going all the way back to the campfire just to see how many more forlorns there are. But otherwise this game is wonderful and don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise!!! 😘

  • One of the best games I’ve ever played

I can not tell you how much I love this game! The art and concept of this game are well crafted and executed. You are transported to a world where you play as a little ember and help others find hope. The puzzles are exiting, hard enough to be challenging but not so hard you give up. The puzzles also change so you aren’t doing the same type of challenge each time. The story is deep and light at the same time. I would highly recommend this game for anyone who liked monument valley or even if you didn’t I believe you will still adore this game! I was so sad to see the end of the game approaching but it was ended beautifully and taught an amazing message about hope. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. I really hope you play this game.

  • Amazing!

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to write something about this game. The graphics are great. I only had a couple of issues with the joystick, but it wasn’t bad. The story is also just so touching! It felt rewarding to navigate through the embers’ darkness to find the light. With that said, I was also surprised by the puzzles—they were challenging and unique. Finally, I don’t play many games with characters, but it was refreshing to see gender-neutral characters. I really appreciated the use of they/them pronouns!!

  • Beautiful, impactful, well-designed

A wonderful game. I can't recommend it enough. Only about 3-5ish hours, depending on how quick you can solve the puzzles. And the puzzles themselves are simple enough that I don't tear my hair out trying to solve. And they are challenging enough that I feel clever when I do!
The narrative was quite impactful, a great meditation on after-life and/or moving on. The writers trust your intellect to gather the subtext on your own and draw your own meaning from it.
The narrator's voice is lovely and soothing in my ears, and the audio design was a delight to hear.
(& to whoever contributed to making the snake's sounds, those were AMAZING! What gorgeous work you/you all did!!)

  • Best on Apple Arcade right now

There aren’t enough good things to say about this game. I’m typically a casual/puzzle game player. This blends the best of both worlds. The animation, narration, story line, and colors drew me in fast and satisfied me after playing 30-45 minutes at a time. I never felt like the puzzles were too hard or too easy. If I was stumped I’d usually come back later and then solution would be obvious. My favorite feature is that it flawlessly and seamlessly synced between devices.

I made it to the end of the story in about 10 days, which I was sad about but still satisfied. I would definitely play through it again. It’s so great to play a mobile game this good without being bombarded by ads or in app purchases.

  • Such a beautifully designed game!

I started out apprehensive about this game cause it looked a little weird but I love puzzles so I gave it a try. I was hooked after the first few minutes. This game is so fun and the atmosphere is very calming. Ember is just the cutest! And the puzzles range from easy to difficult but if you maneuver the materials you’re given, you will eventually figure it out. Just enough obstacle to make you strategize but not to make you frustrated. The story is wonderfully emotional in a good way and there is so much to explore. I love this game and hope to see more like it! You should definitely give it a chance!
