Glitchy app
The app is very glitchy.
This morning I had to reenter my card details, even though they are saved in the app. For some reason it doesn’t allow me to use Autofill, so I had to go back and forth from my banking app to input the details as I usually rely on my Apple Wallet.
I also had to reset my password to gain access even though i have the password saved in the phone. I tried entering my details and it kept rejecting them. Not sure why this was the case but happened another time too.
The mapping options also direct you from the wrong set of docking stations really odd.
Needs a bit of work.

App won’t accept Non-U.K bank info
I just called Santander cycle customer service, they specifically said if you do not have a UK bank account and UK phone number, the app will not work for you. Please make this clear when someone downloads this app.
However, I can still use my physical credit card from the US at the kiosk by the Santander cycle rentals.
Again, developers, please make this information visible to people who just download the app. Or push to change it to accept U.S Credit Cards in the app.

cannot get even the registration right
Just after registering I was greeted with both "Welcome, Joe" and error box "The login has failed". An attempt to kill the app to re-auth was brought even more fun: now "Index was outside the bounds of the array at line 5 ... etc ... at line -34 of ProcessLogin" -- so even the error handling is broken badly here :) If the bikes are as reliable as this application, I am a bit afraid to trust them with my safety. (update) Gone through password reset (and why did they asked the maiden name of my my first pet's school or something? e-mail is enough for recovery), set the same password, got to "welcome! you are now signed in" screen with big stupid "continue" button at the bottom, carefully designed to produce "Error: the login has failed" dialog box -- so apparently being "signed in" does not imply the ability to "log in", thats why "Continue" screen is required. Great job, guys!

Worst cycle hire in the world
I cannot put into words how much i despise using their app. The ui is atrocious, nothing ever works. Their physical hire machines are also rubbish. I hope someone acquires the company and runs it into the ground.
Improvement needed!
Almost every time I call the customer service, the person on the other end don’t know the answer to my basic question and they ask me to wait to find out the answer and they disappear for a very long time without any sign to let me know they are still there .. complete silence!
Almost every time I use the app, the page just vanishes and I need to reopen it again .. this is annoying!
Not enough electric bikes out there and many of the existing ones seem to be often broken or out of charge! Clearly there is a need to invest more. I hope to see an improvement soon.

Mobile confirmation after charging
The app is a scam. After you create an account and pay for your hire (daily, monthly, etc) the app THEN requires a mobile verification that doesn’t work with a foreign number (i.e. if you’re using data roaming). So the subscription you already paid for is unusable. Do better TFL!
If you’re visiting London forget the app and just use your credit card at the bike terminal, save yourself the strife.

Very glitchy app
Have found this app so hard to use. Consistently exits mid booking of ride leaving me with no way to proceed with a booking.
Not for tourists
The app account requires a text message which won’t work for US phones. The stations won’t complete a rental with a US card. Wasted an hour
Worst public bike rental ever
First of all logging does not support iOS password manager. Address look up is not working because of internal mongo DB failure. Does not support Apple Pay or PayPal, and my credit card payment got rejected for no reason.

Trying to use this app for a few years, can count days when it was working as expected.
First of all, adding payment details is paintful, as it requires full billing address match (the funny bit that one of updates made requirement for digit in adress first line, so if it is something like 'flat a' it will not allow to proceed, however I did not check if it was fixed already). Also why it does not support apple/google pay which will provide better user expirience?
Second, I am constantly having issue with loging in. The app accept my password and then shows welcome screen, and when I click 'continue' it fails with "The login has failed - please try again." message. I had this problem in the past, then something was fixed, but now I have it again.
In general (when it works) app is quite slow, simple bike renting process has redundant steps and not userfriendly at all.
Unfortunatly alternatives are not great too - using card payment on station (also not the best user expirience) or bying a key, which you have to carry with you
