  • How do you even use it?

I was really excited to download this app. However, when I opened it, I can’t find any instruction page on how to use it. For exactly, there are various colored lines…I don’t know what they mean.

I wrote an email to the developer to ask, but haven’t heard back. So the time for my free trial is ticking away, with me having no idea whether the app is helpful or not.

Plus the cost. Apple really needs to be more upfront BEFORE downloading on what the associated costs for apps are. This has gotten really annoying, that you have to own the app to be told. Let’s go back to transparent, informed decision making, please.

Hey there. Would you mind emailing again? I’m not seeing any unanswered emails in my inbox at the minute aside from a couple with bounced responses. Can use feedback@alpenglowapp.com. I’m working on v10 and plan to add more details about various features in the app. The lines on the map indicate the direction of sunrise and sunset. The yellow line is the direction of the sun at the selected time. The colors of the sunrise/sunset lines match the icons at the bottom alongside the slider. As for the cost, it costs money to retrieve the forecast data and Alpenglow offers a generous number of features for free and I believe the price points are fair given the time spent developing the app. Of course this could be more transparent and I’ll think how to make it clearer in an upcoming app description update. Hope this helps answer a few questions. Feel free to drop me an email with anymore. I’ll also check my spam folder to see if anything slipped through.
  • Inaccurate

Every time it says good sunrise it’s been poor with no sunrise but when it’s been poor there has been a sunrise and missed it. Absolute inaccurate to rely on.

Sorry to hear you’ve not had a good experience with the forecast accuracy. It’s something I’m actively working on. Just like any other weather forecast it can have good days and bad days especially as sunrise/sunset forecasts are forecasted from weather forecasts so if they are wrong it can throw things off. If you’re able to submit field reports, these are being used to improve the forecast accuracy

So useful and well thought out app. Highly recommended. Also fantastic that if you dont want to pay for a subscription you can buy the pro version forever. Apple watch support is great too.
  • A functional & beautiful app

I really appreciate apps like this, that do one thing well and in a beautiful way. This app is a great way to stay on top of sunset and try to not miss the most beautiful ones. Thanks to the developer for being so responsive and making such a lovely app.

Sorry about the error here. I've been digging into this and believe the current version requires Precise Location. This is an error which will be resolved in the next version of the app and is an unfortunate issue due to the documentation not disclosing this requirement with the way the app is currently fetching the location.

Thanks so much for the kind review.
  • Apple Watch complication has never worked

The complication has been buggy since its inception. In all the years I’ve been a paying customer of this app, the developer has never once acknowledged the issue or responded to support requests.

(Update in response to developer comment below: yes, I’m a lifetime subscriber and yes, I’ve reached out to the support email address multiple times like you’ve suggested and have never once received a response. No other third-party Apple Watch complication I use has any problems staying current, so this is an Alpenglow issue, not a watchOS one.)

Sorry to hear James. I'm not able to locate any emails under your name unfortunately so perhaps they've not come through successfully. If you'd be up for emailing me at feedback@andydev.co.uk or via https://alpenglowapp.com/contact I'll see if we can get to the bottom of the issues.
  • The absolute BEST app of its type

I have used multiple different sunrise/sunset apps, and Aplenglow is by far the best one. I can honestly say, that without an ounce of doubt, that if this app says that it’ll be a good sunset, then it will absolutely be a good one. Since I travel extensively for my job, I have used this app to try and find out when there will be a beautiful sunset that I can photograph, and share it with my wife so that we can “share” the experience via FaceTime. Thanks to this app, when I was working out at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego, I was able to choose the right day to head out to Sunset Cliffs National Park and share a West Coast Sunset with my wife in Florida. I HIGHLY recommend this app for anyone trying to track the sunrise/sunset

  • ISO bug

Eveytime move my account to a new device ALWAYS forget I bought the lift time version
  • Ok but take with a grain of salt

I use this app to gauge photo shooting times. I like sunrises and sunsets. I’ve gone out on a day that states 15% or less and had spectacular days…. And days it’s been 75% it’s been questionable…. I don’t know how they rate the quality for a global platform…. But you have to take it with a grain of salt…. I have the tip version which gives you more days out…. But again I’ve had low rating days come out spectacular…. Sunrises and sunsets are very hard to predict
