  • Just like Scrabble..with no adds or hidden costs!

Love it…no bells or whistles just a great version of a classic game with options to play against the computer or offline against a friend! Love it!

Love this app, worth the price to NOT have annoying ads pop up all the time. Really enjoying it. My only suggestion would be to leave the score of the previous play up on the screen longer. It disappears too quickly.
  • Potential

Love playing scrabble , I’m terrible at it by the way, I use to play scrabble as a way to learn American English. This game could be good, but the dev’s need to separate the English words from the American English, it just makes things confusing, and really doesn’t help people whom wish to continue to better their language, for more though this is a great English game, not much of a good American English, also way too many cheap cop-out words like od, id, os, etc… although some of those I guess words are proper, they aren’t proper words on their own, they usually require a fallow up, like unlike, instead of just un, which is not a word. Also can you please add a word limit, meaning the minimum amount of letters that can’t be used, I really love a challenge, and dislike when the AI uses two letter words, or when I turn on the hint assistant, and I get suggested two letter words, please and thank you.

  • Not quite the old Scrabble app but not too bad

I have been playing Scrabble with the original Scrabble app for years. I love it. I was very upset when it was no longer being supported. I downloaded Scrabble Go about a year ago and deleted it after a few minutes. I would rather play Candy Crush (which I also hate). I just wanted a version of the old board game that I could play on my phone or iPad. I kept the old Scrabble app, which I loved, until today. It was messing up my iPad too much. I downloaded Scrabble Go again thinking that in a year they may have listened to all the reviews asking for a basic Scrabble game that would be good for adults. I was wrong and within 5 minutes I deleted it - again.

I hated Scrabble Go because I don’t want to play against another person. I want to play in a time frame that fits my schedule - not someone else's. I hate having to wait for them to make a move. I also hated all the video game extras. I just wanted my old Scrabble app or something close.

I found this app and read the reviews. It needs some improvement, but it is much, much better than Scrabble Go.

My biggest complaint - not able to use it in landscape on my iPad. I have a keyboard attached and using it in portrait is a pain. For that, it gets only 4 stars.

I also miss having the “teacher” show me what I could have scored with a different word. I’ll probably get over it though.

  • Refuge for real players!

I had been a hasbro pro player for years, but dumped them when they turned greedy and stupid. When they made a classic intelligent game into candy-cotton drivel, I searched for a place to flee. Found Word Master and gratefully paid the $3 for what I thought would be a respectable refuge. This provides a clean, clear, and consistent experience—just what devoted word games players really want! Come on board, fellow refugees! Two suggestions: 1. Keep track of my win/loss record. I took silent pride in my 98% score over 1000’s of games and 3,000 bingos. 2. Give the option to use a couple of “best word” gimmes with each game. I liked tapping the computer to get me over a stump, playing at the expert level. But if those requests are never granted, no worries; I’m still a true fan!

  • Finally, a real Scrabble alternative

Love this game. Spring for the paid version for sure. Only 2 small criticisms: I would prefer more accurate colors for the double and triple word/letter squares, and it would be helpful to be able to separate groups of letters in the letter tray to better visualize options. Otherwise, great game.
  • Love it

This app is great! Scrabble Go is truly a garish nightmare that has no appeal for people who are actually interested in Scrabble. Wordmaster Pro is a totally decent subsitute for the decommissioned EA app that we loved so well.

I like the quick and easy definition lookup, just for curiosity's sake.

One slight annoyance for me is that you can't change the colors of the bonus squares: the green double-letter squares throw me off sometimes because they remind me more of the TL than the DL color on a real Scrabble board.

I enjoy how you don't get to see the master's highest scoring moves until after you've made your play.

The only major thing missing is that you can't play against strangers online. Maybe that function is coming soon?

  • Almost perfect

I play this every day and it’s very slick and simple to use. I have just a couple of things which I constantly wish were features:
    1. The shuffle function disappears as soon as you place a letter. I often want to place a letter and shuffle the remaining 6.
    2. While the recall is handy, what I’d love is the ability to double tap on a letter I’ve already placed, just to recall that one letter, instead of having to drag it back.

That’s all, otherwise it’s a really top game. Well done.

  • Almost perfect...

I obsessively played the old Scrabble game from EA until it was discontinued. I found its replacement. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because of the word suggestion feature. The old scrabble game would give you a suggestion of not only the word but where to put it for optimal points. I learned how to play a better game from this feature. The suggestion feature on this game gives you a possible word but not where to put it. I eventually turned the feature off. The dictionary works well. If you don’t care about the dictionary just get an ad blocker and use the free version. I have the Lockdown app (iphone only) and I never saw an ad on the free version. I only upgraded for the suggestion and dictionary feature.

  • Serviceable scrabble app

If you want a scrabble game with no fuss and no gimmicks then this is the app. If you want excitement and addictive gameplay then look somewhere else. The one-off payment for the ad-free version is a big plus and well worth it. Different board layouts, definition checker and best word quest are good features. Personally I’d like the app to show the last turn’s score on the board, rate the words you play in Classic mode and be a lot less drab.
