New breathe feature is bad

Out of all the available known breathing techniques this is what you’re going with. I have to lay down and put my phone awkwardly on my stomach. And then the audio keeps cutting out every few seconds. This is incredibly annoying and the most frustrating breathing technique I’ve ever tried.

You shouldn’t have to lay down to do breathing exercises.

I’ll keep using my other breathing apps that aren’t just a gimmick.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback. The ⌜Breathe⌟ exercise we introduced is one way to practice Diaphragmatic breathing or deep breathing. It is not intended to replace other breathing techniques. What you get is the real-time detection and calming feedback accompanying the exercise. Occasionally, the sensing may not be totally accurate, if you restart ⌜Breathe⌟, put the phone on the lower part of your belly, and breathe deeply into your belly, it should work smoothly. We are at the same time investigating the potential sensing issue, will improve it ASAP.

Good, with Some Opportunities for Improvement

I have enjoyed using Pause for a while and have been very happy to see the feature set grow with new and very helpful additions. I have been considering subscribing, but have one major complaint: Pause does not seem to offer the opportunity to log mindful minutes in Apple Health. As someone who likes to track that metric passively, I would really like to see that added to a future update.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback🍃. Pause actually does track and save mindful minutes in the Apple Health app. It could be some settings issue in the Health app. You are very welcome to write an email to us at help@pauseable.com, we will be able to help you resolve the issue quickly.

Success

I’ve loved this app till it went silent. Wish I had known the fix was to take my phone off “silent mode.” All is well and I can now enjoy the app again!

Was great. Now....not so much.

Please please please please add a menu feature to turn off the haptic feedback if you go to quickly. It is incredibly annoying and completely takes you out of the flow.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback🍃. Yes, Pause has transitioned into a new payment model, but we do so by continuously adding value to both the freemium and premium parts. So the value of your pervious purchase will only increase. For instance, we just released a new function called ⌜Flow Timer⌟ where the core experience is for free. We will also add a setting so you can easily turn off the vibration.

Relaxing, lovely little blobs

If you’re having a hard time with stress, falling asleep, etc., I highly recommend the Pause app. I cannot overstate how much I love this app. (I’ve been using it for a few years now.) You basically guide a little blob around the screen - verrry slowwwwly - picking up other gently floating little blobs, as your blob grows and grows and eventually fills the screen. All while gentle, floofly, space age meditation music plays. It sounds weird, but it’s actually a lovely, relaxing experience! If this app ever went away, I’d honestly be bereft. It’s a big part of my relaxation toolkit!

One of a kind app – comments on the update

I bought this app a long time ago, and am happy my original features are still here, with the added bonus of new iOS and phone support. None of the core features changed; however there are new options that are “locked” which one cannot remove if not purchased, or not being used. (Your original purchase, or newly-downloaded app/purchase as the case may be, is quite similar to the original Pause app.)

Unfortunately, the “Pause Premium” is currently the cost of the original app purchase – but is monthly on a monthly basis. This astronomically increases the price, if one is interested in the advanced metrics, themes, and so on. (Subscriptions do enable developers to devote more time to apps, and not release “new” versions after abandoning the current app listing, as the App Store does not offer upgrade pricing. More on that later.)

Feature Requests: Adding an “advanced” screen in settings, which would allow all of the visual elements to be customized, such as removing certain functionality, if one is not using them. Alternatively, they could be “relocated” (in that “advanced” menu, or in general) so that the “Pause Home Screen” remains as singularly-focused as it once was: just place your finger… :)

My belief is that “metrics” for meditation has some degree of irony: I feel meditation is about the abandonment of intentionality, thought-movement, and willful doing. Not trying to do so, and trying to not do so. It has no “point,” and is the point. “How can I improve at no-thing?” Its relaxing, because it’s, in simpler terms: a break! If you’re reading that, please consider that question; if you find it funny maybe that’s the answer, it’s ironic, and a bit of a riddle.

However, not everyone holds this philosophy: the app authors have told me that some “objective” guidance can help one start on the right track to meditation. If you are interested in the metrics and believe it could help you, and/or like the neat also-included colorful themes, subscribing may help keep the app alive – aiding in funding further development!

Though, I feel the price of $4/month is too steep, as the app 1Password is less than that, for example. In my personal opinion, I believe $10/year is fair for the functionality I derive from it. (But the stress relief Is worth more).

——

Note: This is a much more thoughtful and revised review, since I received a comment from the app developers who read and said they will consider my original review. Consider this a more thorough, better one. (And I have upgraded this to five stars after thinking about it more.)

IAP not cool

sick and tired of the rip-off pricing

Contact us

Usually there’s a contact us for clients but this app doesn’t have one yet.
I purchased a new sound for my pause app but it’s gone because of the new update installment.

In-app purchase scam

Three months ago the developer added the option to purchase a new soundscape in the app. I purchased the soundscape, but now the developer has removed it from the app completely in favour of other soundscapes that you have to subscribe to access. I’m not against subscription models in apps, but the way this has been implemented is disgraceful. Previous purchases need to be honoured.

We just released Pause 2.0.1, where your purchased music Mountain has been restored. Please update and check. Enjoy!🍃

Love it

WOW tried few times. I love it. Very relaxing. Would be nice to have some features so you don’t have to open eyes to check if you are on track.

Response from developer

Thanks for you kind feedback 🍃. We are glad that you found Pause helpful. We are adding a subtle haptic feedback to support you while eyes closed. It will be launched in the next several days, look forward to hearing your feedback on that.
