## What is A Day With A Difference?

Introduce your child to the comparatives (bigger, smaller etc) through this charming interactive story about Mr. Big and Mr. Small, two neighbours who, one day, have to call on each other for help. Your child will be required to assist during the story with tasks which will help them to understand the comparatives.

The app teaches your child the key comparatives that children are expected to learn in their first year of school. These include:

· Bigger and Smaller
· More and Less
· Same and Different
· Longer and Shorter

Throughout the story, your child will be introduced to the range of comparatives, and for each comparative they will be given the opportunity to practice what they have learned. Once they have completed the story, they can return to any of the practice parts again.

Then parents can configure how many questions they would like their child to answer, and the criteria for success. If required, the sound can be turned off so that the story can also be read by your child.

In addition, you are provided with a specially designed single or multi player game, which tests the child’s ability to use the comparatives they have just learnt. The game can be played against the iPad, by two children or by a parent and a child.

### 3/5 — Ok for little ones

*2013-04-02, version 1.1*

My 6 yr olds were not impressed. My 4 yr old liked it.

### 5/5 — Great tool to teach language concepts

*2012-03-26, version 1.0*

The language concepts presented (big/little, short/long, more/less, ect..) make this a great tool for speech therapy because I often target these areas with other activities. Also the sorting and matching tasks are great because you can see if the child is transferring skills learned to an activity .When I am working with language delayed kiddos, these are some of the areas I target. I love the simple story format that presents the concept...Mr. Big has a big house, Mr. Small has a small house (there is great visual representation of the concepts throughout (big man big house big items ect..) The comprehension games through out (find the big one, which one has more ect..) are great because they are within the story following when the concept is presented (this makes it more meaningful for the child). Even students with limited mobility can participate because answers are presented with big touch response areas. There is positive reinforcement when a child completes a task correctly that encourages the child to keep going! I think apps targeting basic concepts and skills for little ones presented in this type of story format with comprehension and activities embedded within is the way to go
