### 4/5 — really useful

*2020-07-30*

Really good mind maps and insightful cue cards. I just wish that you could have the option to answer with the definition on the tests instead of the terms

### 3/5 — Decent if you struggle with recalling things

*2020-03-05*

Decent but not worth £2. All multi choice questions. Had problems where it only had one answer and the rest were just numbers instead of other answers. Would be nice if you could choose to do 20 questions and at the end it tells you which questions were correct l.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. Sorry you feel £2 is not worth it, but it is far cheaper than any other A-level Sociology app, and many students have said much better. A feature of choosing a set number of questions is something that may be considered in future. In regards to the problem you had, this is the first time this issue has ever come up despite extensive testing and thousands of downloads. Please send further details to info@gradegrowers.co.uk.

### 4/5 — Not bad

*2020-03-03*

It’s really good and it helps quite a bit! Main issues are that when u press try again after doing the questions and u answer one, it doesn’t continue and says you scored 1/18 so if that could get fixed please! Along with some additional key words like beanpole family or pivot generation. Other than that it’s a good app!

**Developer response:** I’m pleased you’re finding the app helpful! Thank you for spotting the issue when selecting ‘try again’. I have now fixed this (Apple usually takes a day or two to approve and release the update). In regards to the other key terms, AQA don’t provide a definitive list of key terms for the A-level, so I had to draw the line somewhere. However I have added in beanpole family for you! Good luck with the rest of your revision!

### 4/5 — More fun than revising from books

*2019-06-05*

Reasonably priced and makes revision more fun than constantly looking through notes. The 20 question quizzes are just that - 20 questions, not drawn from a larger bank although overall there are a lot of questions when you take all the topics into account. Had a slight problem with app but impressed to be contacted by the developer and the matter was quickly resolved.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. There are over 300 flashcards in total on both key terms and theorists, so the content has been condensed to make it manageable. Perhaps it's too condensed at times, and that can be changed! In regards to the app crashing, that's been checked and it's not a fault on the app itself. If you email info@thesociologyteacher.com, I'll reply with the pdf versions of all the mind maps, and you can have the Theory and Methods one in time to help with Paper 3 next week. Best of luck with the rest of your exams!

### 1/5 — Not worth the money

*2026-05-09*

Considering the fact that you have to pay for it I’d expect it to be more in-depth; it only has 20 flashcards for the general themes of Education which aren’t broken down enough!!
Can likely find better notes online for free
Would at least expect exemplar essays+
Mind maps are okay, not the best -> comes with a sociologist per topic

### 1/5 — Do not buy!!!

*2024-08-06, version 10*

Absolute waste of money not helpful at all for a level, do not buy!!

### 1/5 — Awful

*2024-04-14*

No where near enough content. There is little you get for your money as this is not up to an a-level standard as the content provided would only get you a maximum of a D. I would be suprised if this was even good enough for GCSE.

### 2/5 — Limited scope

*2025-04-22, version 11*

Basic revision app

### 2/5 — not worth the money

*2025-03-28*

honestly the app is just the basic sociology stuff. It doesn’t go into detail with anything at all, you can do flash cards of sociologists but it doesn’t tell you if they’re a marxist, functionalist etc. The key terms on the flash cards are useless as well, there’s not a section of gender, ethnicity; globalisation they look more like ‘material deprivation= answer ‘ it’s just standard terms there’s no further explanation to link them to other topics and has no explanation’s as to what the functionalist, marxist , neo marxist, new right think of education, families, etc. The mind maps are useless as well, it’s got basic information on and doesn’t go into detail really it looks rushed and doesn’t really give you an understanding of the topics. I would delete the app and not use but i’ve paid for it so it feels like i need to have it.

### 2/5 — Not worth it

*2025-01-29*

The concept of the app is good but it’s nothing that you can’t get for free on apps like quizlet and Seneca and even from teachers. I was expecting exam questions and answers but no. If I could refund my £1.99 I probably would lol.

### 2/5 — Not a lot for your money

*2023-12-06*

Only 20 questions per unit which are the same as the flashcard questions. Mind maps again have one key point per topic so definetly not worth the money

### 3/5 — Pretty good

*2025-03-17*

It has a few good flash cards in there but most of them are basic and won’t actually help you if you are trying to revise later on in the exams it could be good for beginners just starting sociology but lacks key theorists that should be added

### 3/5 — Mind maps

*2023-02-28*

App shuts down every time i try to load the mind maps

### 3/5 — Good!

*2020-10-21*

This app is good i like the quizzes although it would be good to add some which aren’t multiple choice allowing us to write in our own answers. However, i don’t think your essay assistant part is working, when i click random paragraph sentence or intro or for conclusion nothing comes up. Please could you fix this :) nice app though for quick simple revision !

**Developer response:** Hello Kate! Unfortunately I can't make a feature in which you can write answers in, as I'm just your average Sociology teacher and my coding knowledge is not expert! Thanks for spotting the issue with the Essay Assistant - I've now fixed this, so there'll be an update available very soon. (Apple usually take 1 - 5 days to process these.) Good luck with the revision!

### 5/5 — Making sociology revision enjoyable again!

*2024-10-02*

This app is a must-have for anyone studying AQA A-level Sociology! It makes revision so much easier with its flashcards, quizzes, and comprehensive guides. I love how it covers everything—from Education to Crime & Deviance and even popular options like Families and Media. The essay assistant is a game-changer, helping you write like a pro, and the question guide takes away the stress of exam prep. The detailed mind maps are super helpful too! Best of all, there are no annoying in-app purchases—everything is available right from the start. Highly recommend

### 5/5 — J

*2024-06-10, version 10*

This app was super useful, especially for such a low price!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2024-02-04*

App is very good value for what it provides. It saves me from making stacks of paper flashcards and mind-maps. I have just got a few suggestions to improve the user experience on the app:

After answering a question and getting it wrong there should be like a 10 second window to process the answer before moving onz

In each topic there should be subtopics.

Perhaps a bank of practice essays and questions could be integrated in the future.

Including a dark mode?

But overall I can tell that this is going to be a valuable asset in my revision.

### 5/5 — Great app (WORTH THE MONEY)

*2022-09-06*

I’ve been using this app for a while now and it is great! It has nearly all the materials u can ask for and is very easy to use! It costs as much as a pen so it’s definitely worth the buy.
If I could add one thing it would be having a way of typing your answer to the question instead of always having multiple choice as I think this would push you a bit further in having to learn the answers.

### 5/5 — Super helpful!

*2020-07-23*

Really helpful revision app, worth every penny! I especially love the Mind Maps, they’re super visual and colourful and just what I need to help me remember theories and their pros/cons. Thanks 😌

### 5/5 — Wet

*2020-01-07, version 7*

Absolutely wet

### 5/5 — AMAZING

*2019-01-31*

This is the best Sociology app I have ever used, worth every penny!! It has everything you could possibly need to revise the AS and A-level topics including quizzes, flash-cards AND mindmaps!! The knowledge is worded in a way that is so easy to understand, I literally can’t rave about this enough :)

### 5/5 — Worth £10 😱

*2018-11-18*

I was about to purchase a £6 app to revise my sociology A-level but I came across this one. It is so useful for testing key theorists from year 1 and 2. It has education, families and households, research methods, crime and media! Really worth the value 😊

### 4/5 — Good but could be better

*2023-06-19*

I like the app however I would like it if I could see a feature that shows me cards I have already completed/studied.
Also I would prefer if you could look at the answer after you select after it tells you if you are right or wrong as if I’m wrong I would prefer to read the prompt again to help my understanding
I do like the app in general but i think if it was set out more like the app keycards it would be better!

### 4/5 — Good

*2020-10-22*

It’s a very well designed app with good features. Only thing that isn’t so good is the essay assistant which doesn’t work - nothing displays when you click the buttons.

**Developer response:** Hello, thanks for spotting this - it's an issue when phones are set to dark mode. I've now fixed this, so there'll be an update available very soon. (Apple usually take 1 - 5 days to process these.) Good luck with the revision!
