## What is A Magical High School Girl?

The magic, it calls to you.

Get ready for an epic roguelike dungeon crawler where you get to make your own spells!

The only weapons you get are the ones you design yourself. Name every spell you get, and your name will decide what kind of spell it is. Elements, strength, effects, all of it hinges on the names you give your spells.

Level up your spells as you explore, and use the magicite you find scattered around to create new spells. You can even fuse spells together to further customize your arsenal.

An ordinary high school girl wanders her way into a world of magic, monsters, and mysterious witches! Whether or not you can survive in this harsh but alluring world depends entirely on your creativity!

*Game Overview
A Magical High School Girl is an isometric grid-based turn-based roguelike RPG. However, unlike normal roguelikes, the HP system, experience system, levels, UI, and almost everything else has been reimagined to fit the theme of the game.

And most of all this is the first roguelike to offer an enjoyable experience for even casual players. But this game has many layers, and even roguelike veterans will have something to look forward to in the diverse systems this game has to offer.

The same combination of words will always create the same spell, so tell your friends about the spells you discover and use the knowledge you've hoarded to beat others in time attack mode. There's all sorts of ways to play!

*Ending Theme
The ending theme was composed for us by the highly talented みみめめMIMI. The ending song, "1 Meter" can be heard in both the trailer and the demo version of the game, along with the main game itself of course.

## Key features

- Custom spell creation via naming
- Roguelike dungeon crawling
- Isometric grid-based gameplay
- Turn-based combat
- Spell leveling and fusion

### 5/5 — Meow

*2020-01-25*

Today, I just downloaded this!

Update
why do we have to restart a chapter if we die? Oh well.
Also, why is the last level on chap. 2 so hard? I can’t finish it.

### 5/5 — A cute rogue-like

*2018-04-06*

If you like strategic dungeon crawls and magical girls / witches, you’ll enjoy this one. The controls were intuitive and made exploring and combat effortless. Well done.

As others pointed out, you're buying a real game here, no ads or in-app payment schemes. A nice plus in 2018.

### 5/5 — Japanese is Overpowered

*2017-06-18*

I have really been enjoying this game so far. Even before unlocking the Witch Village, I spent hours throwing words at crystals to figure out what they would do. Haha. After that, I unlocked the Witch Village, and a whole new world was opened. I haven't gotten too far in the game yet, but I am satisfied with the depth and pacing of the content so far. Also, the characters and story are cute, and the light theme and atmosphere is done really well.

Now to talk about the title of my comment... In the time I spent throwing words at crystals, I realized that switching the language setting to Japanese allows you to use Japanese (technically English written in Katakana, from what I've found) for keywords like "Fire." In general, the Japanese equivalents require fewer characters than their English counterparts, so you can actually put far more effects on a spell with the language set to Japanese! In the end, I don't think it's a major issue, and I still name spells in English most of the time. I find it more comfortable, and it does have its own charm. In any case, I highly encourage anyone playing this game to do their own experimentation. It's really fun!

As for complaints, there aren't many. I guess there's that I keep losing the descriptions of items, and I'm not sure why. It's also difficult to tell how many items you have and when you are near full inventory (the number shows pages). Finally, there is no real indication of when you will meet a boss, so it is difficult to prepare beforehand. None of these are critical, but addressing them would certainly make the game a bit more comfortable.

Overall, this is still a very solid game with fun systems to experiment and play around with, and I highly recommend it.

### 4/5 — Curious little dungeon crawl

*2017-03-20*

Aside from a case of the cutes (try getting that theme song out of your head), what distinguishes this game is a very novel magic system. Magic spells are collected via crystals, and while some have defined effects, others are "anonymous" and take on the traits of whatever you name them when you first use them. For example, call your crystal's spell "earthquake" and you'll cause earth damage to all nearby enemies, while calling it "all laser" will shoot lasers both ahead and behind you. The novelty of the game comes from thowing words at the crystals and seeing what else sticks.

Beyond that, it's a 2D dungeon crawl on a Rogue-like square grid, but with graphics resembling something from the 16-bit Super Nintendo era. Not deep at all, but probably good for a five-minute fix when you have downtime.

Also, it's a REAL GAME, paid up front, with NO IN-APP PURCHASES and NO ADS. In 2017, that alone is worthy of praise.
