Within five mins of downloading the app I had ten new ideas for stories, and the creative juices are still flowing. This app is well worth it. I'm rating it four stars instead of five only because the app has a tendency to cut out when I try to view the news articles, which is a little annoying. ### 4/5 — Refund! *2012-04-26* I just purchased this one by mistake. Some of the content inappropriate for this age range however and not many inspiring headlines to get them thinking. Would give 5* for less American headlines and more to get their creativity flowing. :-) ### 5/5 — The Best Prompts I've Found *2011-10-26* I love this App for the wide variety of prompts it offers. I purchased it in the hopes of finding some fresh ideas of starting my writing sessions. Right off the bat, I loved my first writing prompt and found my pencil flying. I especially enjoy that I can mark some prompts as "favorites" - I use this function to indicate the ones that I've done. I haven't used all of the various prompt categories, but I like that the App offers so many choices. If I'm in the mood to do a quirky headline, I can. If I want to use a variety of words, that's an option, too. With so many options, I've found that I look forward to starting each writing session with a prompt from this App. I'd recommend this especially to educators who want something fresh to use with their students. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can’t access app *2026-02-28* The app is broken!!!! It’s a great idea and right from the start it worked, however as soon as I hit “News” it fails with a parse xml error. You have to uninstall, restart your device and install again. Save yourself a couple of quid and buy a coffee instead. Developers, when do you think you’ll make the app work? ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work :( *2024-05-13* I paid £3.99 for this app and upon opening it, it just crashes :( I don’t recommend this one :( ### 1/5 — News feed locks me out *2018-03-17* I tapped News and an xml parsing error crashed the program. I can't now get back in at all as it always defaults to news and immediately crashes. ### 1/5 — For kids *2017-01-07* This app is a complete waste of money. I could have typed up some words, added them to a fish bowl, and acquired the same the same random result they give 'for your creative inspiration'. Unfortunately I wasted money on the entire bundle. I emailed the developers the same day I bought it requesting a refund. They don't actually have a support email (no surprise), so I emailed a page setup to solicit advertisers. They ignored the request. Stay away unless you're buying it for your eight-year-old. And even then, stay away because they are only interested in your money. Seriously worst app I've ever been tricked into purchasing. ### 1/5 — Does not work with VoiceOver!!!!!!!!!! *2015-12-31* I just purchased this app and found out that it does not work with voiceover. I do not recommend this app if you are a voiceover user. ### 2/5 — Good app when.. *2026-05-18* I love this app and have had it for years. I’d use it more if it worked more consistently. ### 2/5 — Crashing *2017-08-12* For whatever reason the "news" icon crashes the app. App then needs to be deleted and reinstalled. The cycle continues. Can I suggest user-orientated search words for the news headlines and as the other reviewer mentions, country setting for news searching as returning only US news. Also would be good to be able to add and remove words from the words prompt.
