### 2/5 — Postscript to my previous review

*2021-01-25*

I have to agree with Mr 1. After playing it, in an hour, i think it’s too easy, too short, and not worth 2.99. Too bad.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. Getting the right balance for the length of a game is something I am still working on as some people finish really quickly and some complain that they never finish the game. I will endeavour to get that balance perfect in the future, thank you again for trying one of my games!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Warrole

*2023-11-19, version 1.0.4*

I don’t usually bother to write a review but this is too expensive for an incomplete game and some of the puzzles make no sense at all.
The vision is also unclear and I must admit I used a walkthrough for most of it
I would like a refund if possible

### 1/5 — Skip it

*2023-05-02*

This game took 15 minutes to play. The puzzles were simplistic and not worth the money.

**Developer response:** It's interesting that it only took you 15 minutes, as most players usually enjoy several hours of gameplay. Did you happen to use a walkthrough?

### 1/5 — Where is the menu?

*2022-02-12*

How do you get out of the game? Where is the menu? Where are the settings? I will revise my ratings when I get answers.

**Developer response:** Use ALT+Return to toggle full-screen mode.

### 1/5 — Too short

*2022-01-17*

This game took me 20 min to play. Its too easy and short. I do not reccomend it

**Developer response:** 20 mins? That must be some sort of record. I'm guessing you enjoyed the game to complete it, but would have preferred it to be a little longer.

I put a lot of time and effort into creating my adventure games and strive to make them the best I can. Without a walkthrough or guide most players would expect a good few hours of puzzle fun.

For half the price of a coffee these days I don't think is a bad deal.

### 1/5 — Not any good

*2021-01-09*

This is a 10-minute game with easy puzzles fir $2.99. I’m not a fast solver either. Skip it.

**Developer response:** Hi there, sorry to hear you didn't enjoy my game. There is definitely more than 10 minutes gameplay. Maybe you followed a walkthrough? If you didn't then you are a wasted talent playing games :)

### 2/5 — Very short

*2023-10-05*

I finished this game in less than 25 minutes.

### 2/5 — Too short and some very obscure puzzles

*2022-01-27*

The game is far too short for the price and it could be improved in so many ways. Each area you enter only has one puzzle to solve giving you a key to the next area. A bit repetitive. This breaks the feeling of exploration.

The save system needs to be refined so you don’t have to repeat your steps if you don’t complete that particular area.

Telephone puzzle is just ridiculous and I would be surprised if anyone solved that without a walk-through.

Then a totally abrupt ending.

The games by this developer have the potential to be so so good as the graphics are there and so is the atmosphere, but the actual content of puzzles and storyline are lacking.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the constructive feedback. It's refreshing to read!

A Simple Mistake was one of my earlier games so I fully accept the shortfalls in the areas you mentioned. Although the game I feel still offers a fun challenge to people that want to solve puzzles and go on an adventure.

The save system is totally fixed in newer games for example. But sadly I haven't managed to retrofit it as the code behind the scenes is totally different and adds more bugs than it fixes.

According to reviews the telephone puzzle was quite easy and the whole game could be solved within 3-20mins - I assume these people were either exaggerating or using a guide. So it is nice to hear someone actually stuck on one of my puzzles, else I could have continued to created some rather obscure things in the future!

It's nice to hear the graphics and atmosphere are up to scratch. Might I recommend you try one of my newer titles where hopefully you'd see a lot of the improvements you have mentioned.

Thanks for playing!

### 2/5 — Not worth paying for

*2021-04-24*

I've played sample games that lasted longer. Really annoyed I paid for a game that I completed in 20 mins

**Developer response:** Hi there, sorry you didn't enjoy my game. As a solo developer I endeavour to create an equal length adventure games as larger studios with huge budgets, sadly sometimes this can fall short of some expectations. I take all feedback and put this into future adventures, so thank you for trying.

### 2/5 — Has potential but...

*2021-03-10*

Very short for a paid game. I get that we all have bills to pay but I've had much better value for the same price from other developers. I might have given an extra star if the puzzles were more satisfying (the last one was particularly disappointing) and if the gameplay felt more interactive (everything is very static, the buttons don't move when you press them). That said, I think this developer has the potential to grow into something much better.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for playing my game and giving an honest review. It's a shame only to receive 2 stars, but I'd like to think trying my newer games things have improved. Sadly the price has to be fairly high as the development costs outweighs any income, the niche is quite small, but I adore the genre. Thanks again for the feedback!

### 2/5 — No key

*2021-03-08*

Reasonable game but however many times I tried the key would not appear from the keypad in the dining room, I even copied frame by frame from a cheat/help source and nothing,

**Developer response:** Hi there, if you reach out over email I can help out getting you past this tricky puzzle!

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Another great

*2021-10-18*

Love these games…love this developer 😻😻😻😻😻

**Developer response:** Thanks for the praise and thank you for playing! 😃

### 5/5 — Oooh … good ending

*2021-07-31*

Loved it! I see someone complained that it’s too short. It’s really not for the price and the experience. I think it’s fair. Really good with nice puzzles. Totally worth it.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the supportive review! It's difficult to convey that I'm just a solo developer working on these game alone so competing with large game studios is tough, but I will always try to give as much game content as I can. Thank you again for playing!

### 5/5 — Short but good

*2021-02-10, version 1.0.3*

Great game!

### 4/5 — Good but short

*2025-05-09*

This is a good game but it’s too short. It’s got all you expect from a P&P game and it’s not too difficult. However, it’s too short a game to rate with any decent review. I’d be glad to play a longer version and then give it a proper rating.

### 4/5 — Enjoyable and challenging ...

*2020-12-30*

... but no hints. My beleaguered brain has got as far as it can without outside help. Will have to wait until a walkthrough is available to get me moving again.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for playing my game, if you need a hint please email through my website and I'll be glad to help. I don't like posting hints here as it spoils the fun for everyone else.

### 3/5 — A Simple Mistake

*2022-04-15*

The title says it all… paying for this game was truly “A Simple Mistake”. I never give a game less than 3 stars, no matter how much I may dislike it, and the reason for that is because the developer spent a lot of time to create a game (something that I could never do) and whether I love or hate it, I have to remember that someone made this from nothing and is proud of their work. As for my opinion, it was INCREDIBLY short, but ended up taking 10x longer because I spent the ENTIRE game clicking endlessly all over the dark (and incredibly hard to see) screen trying to figure out what to do next. There are no hints, no prompts, no nothing. Just VERY dark rooms with furniture along with random zoom in objects that have no use in the game. I would not recommend this one.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the respectful feedback. I guess my game isn't for everyone, but I try my best to improve and take input from players so thank you for trying!

### 3/5 — Hmmmmm

*2021-08-10*

Took way less than an hour to complete. Loved most of the graphics, but some scenes are so dark it’s hard to find objects.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback, sadly as a solo developer the length of the game is probably shorter than games from large development studios but I will try harder! Thanks for trying.

### 3/5 — Very Short

*2021-07-24*

Not sure if it would be worth the money. It took me all of 20 minutes to figure out. And it seems to be just a part of a larger plot-no satisfaction at the end

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! Depending on a persons puzzle solving ability will dictate the length of the game I guess. For a seasoned player the game could feel quite short but the time and effort I put into the game I think the price is fair. Thanks again for trying.
