### 2/5 — App needs work

*2026-05-05, version 2.26.0*

My company used this app for a team challenge and has used it in the past. This time was very frustrating, there were so many issues with syncing and almost a full day when the app wouldn’t even load.

### 2/5 — Load Time still a challenge

*2026-04-29, version 2.26.0*

I like the overall function of this app and different themes available for team challenges. Every time I need to sync steps I have to wait through an extremely long load screen animation. Cool logo, I’m tired of seeing it change texture. Just let me sync steps and slay goblins/zombies/aliens.

### 2/5 — Not worth the hassle

*2026-03-06, version 2.25.4*

Their support team is completely unhelpful and rude. Don’t bother using this if you have Pixel or can’t connect a smart watch because your steps will either not be counted at all or only a portion of them, and support will not assist.

### 3/5 — Work Challenge App

*2026-02-17, version 2.25.3*

The app shuts down a lot and continued to log us out during a work challenge. Also the app doesn’t always sync with Health right away so it’s sometimes hard to tell how many steps you’ve truly accrued. It definitely still needs some work, but overall we enjoyed it.

### 2/5 — Not clear on objectives

*2025-12-15, version 2.25.1*

Didn’t understand this game most of time. Actions and rules were inconsistent. For example if you averaged 15000 steps it only counted 2000

### 2/5 — Fix the glitches

*2025-11-09, version 2.24.2*

Watch out because some of the games glitch and it screws up the whole competition. I’ve got thousands of steps banked and it won’t let me cash in or play. I’m just stuck at an obstacle which keeps hurting me. Need to fix the glitches.

### 3/5 — App needs work

*2025-10-31, version 2.24.2*

I do a challenge every year with my work team. I enjoy a lot of elements to the challenge. I will say having it surge up to 12k steps needed on the last week when we start at a goal of 5k week one is too extreme. We are working professionals! Also I do feel the zombies should lighten up a little during the workday. Again, working professionals doing this app mostly I imagine. Lastly, why does the app and typing in the group chat have to be sideways? This was my team’s number one complaint. As well, long term, would love to see more action take place for my character than just beating the zombies with a broom. But mostly, I love it! Just think some app features could be better in design and functionality

### 4/5 — Not very well thought out!

*2025-09-30, version 2.24.2*

Unless you’re putting in 1000 steps by breakfast and another 1000 Steps every couple hours the Horde catches you! Even though you could put in 4000-5000 Steps when you get of work!!

This doesn’t make any Sense for people that have Desk jobs or are tied up in meetings!

### 4/5 — Power points need to be adjusted

*2025-07-05, version 2.24.2*

I enjoyed the camaraderie of the team event that I participated in. I have to use my phone to count my steps since I don’t use a Fitbit or any other device. So, getting power points was extremely low just doing the steps per day. I think that should be adjusted so that when you reach your goal each day, that there is a bonus of power points. Outside activities should add points but they should be of less consequence, since the “game” is about getting your daily “steps” in and helping your team get to the safe house.

### 3/5 — Sync issues with Garmin Venu 3

*2025-06-30, version 2.24.2*

I had tonnes of sync issues, most days it was 10+ hours behind unfortunately so my team didn’t get the benefit of the steps.

### 2/5 — App loading time

*2025-06-06, version 2.24.2*

Takes a long time for this app to load. I would want to check in and add some recent steps and by the time the app loaded I was disinterested.

### 3/5 — Mediocre

*2025-04-01, version 2.24.2*

Game is okay, but I found it immensely frustrating that there was a cap on inputting steps. Also it’s beyond stupid that you can’t convert steps into power for healing or fighting obstacles. It makes the game purposeless and irritating rather than fun. I’m not likely to play this game again because of how dumb the rules were.

### 2/5 — Just Ok

*2024-11-18, version 2.24.1*

I used this app for a school wide contest. It was not fun, and the teams weren't even with the amount of people making it impossible to win. Also, there were many times it didn't count my steps. The way it is laid out is also very confusing.

### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2024-11-18, version 2.24.1*

Difficult to fight bots and be held back and unable to sync steps. Finishing five weeks only to be held back in the 6th week was also disappointing. We worked very hard and we didn’t finish.

### 3/5 — Fun with friends but the app is inconsistent.

*2024-11-04, version 2.24.1*

We enjoy the competition with our group, but our steps count on our fitbits, etc, NEVER matched what the game would pick up. The help feature is not helpful at all.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horde covering team members

*2026-06-26, version 2.27.0*

I can’t click on any of my teammates when the hoard is in the same spot as us and it’s really frustrating.

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2026-06-18, version 2.27.0*

A terrible app that will constantly remind you that you have not allowed it to send you annoying notifications. Only used it because our company uses it.

### 1/5 — This game sucks

*2026-05-09, version 2.26.0*

I was looking for a free walking app that plays like a game but every time I turn around, they’re trying to charge me. I was finally able to get the joint code but now they want to charge me for a game ticket as well. I can only imagine that once I pay for the game ticket they’re gonna find something else to charge me for. This is not a free app like they advertised. It’s an absolute lie.

### 1/5 — Hit boxes

*2026-04-13, version 2.25.5*

How am I supposed to heal my team members when the hoard is at the exact spot? I can’t click on my team members when it’s constantly hitting the hoard members..

### 1/5 — Awful Customer Support

*2026-03-13, version 2.25.4*

The app stopped tracking my steps for our challenge and when I messaged support they took 2 full days to respond and responded with a very unhelpful response and no regard to help resolve the issue. I’d think twice about choosing to use this app for your step challenge because if anything goes wrong you will not get any help.

### 1/5 — How do you even play this?

*2025-12-07, version 2.25.0*

Downloaded the app expecting it to be playable. Turns out you need some sort of code to even play. It’s unclear how the code is even obtained. All this should be stated upfront and clearly. My best guess is that companies or organizers go through some sort of process online (outside the app) to create a code (which costs a lot of money) which can then be played by others. Once again, very unclear. Is this game not actually meant to be played by those who find it on the App Store but rather through organizations/companies who are doing team building or clubs creating an exercise regiment ?

There should be a free version that doesn’t require going outside the app to play.

### 1/5 — Glad it was free

*2025-02-17, version 2.24.2*

In addition to all the reports about it being “slow”, the gameplay is demoralizing from day 1. The “horde” is upon you and taking health before you have even had a chance to meet your first day step goal. And the “team step” dynamic inherently favors small teams with the minimum number of participants.

### 1/5 — No mission recap

*2024-11-29, version 2.24.2*

The concept is fun but similarly to a past comment: at the end of the mission, on the day after it finishes, there’s just the invite screen where you input a mission code screen. So, no recap, no final ranking, everything disappears into oblivion.

### 1/5 — Thought I was joining a walking challenge.

*2024-11-24, version 2.24.2*

I thought I was joining a walking challenge. To see how many steps me and my team could get together and racing other teams to the end and to avoid zombie things…

That wasn’t it.
Week one- we started out walking. Some of my teammates weren’t walking - we needed to remind them that they joined the challenge and start walking.

We came across our first obstacle of K.A.R.E.bots. This stopped us from uploading steps. We needed PowerPoints to beat the bots. Well week one we don’t need a lot of power points so we could easily beat the bots and move forward.

Well each week, we needed more steps- no problem, it’s a walking challenge, makes sense. Well each week the value of power points needed to kill the K.A.R.E.bots also increases. I don’t think any of us figured out how to get more PowerPoints, but we definitely got annoyed and frustrated because we couldn’t add the steps we earned because we were stuck at the K.A.R.E.bots and couldn’t move until they were defeated. So we would end up stuck in the middle of the course getting best up. You also use the PowerPoints to heal yourself if you get best up, so in order to survive you heal yourself before killing bots and your just stuck. So you have 1000s of atps that don’t get tracked as your just stuck. And if your teammates don’t do their part there’s nothing you can do.

Due to the stupid cycle of K.A.R.E.bots and needing to defeat them before being able to log steps AND the Increae in the instances of K.A.R.E.bots in the path for each week do the challenge, had my group not even finish the course after the first week.

Instead of tracking my steps, I ended up just trying g to try to earn PowerPoints to survive the obstacles to say I finished the challenge.

It took ALL OF THE FUN out of the challenge. Instead of encouraging each other to keep walking track those step, it turned into… to hate this app, stupid bots, I’m giving up. Half of our team dropped out because the fun of the challenge was lost to the K.A.R.E.bots.

I’m very disappointed. I never thought my team would win, but some of use spent the first two weeks walking together, which was the coal of joining. By the third week we were just frustrated to be bothered. We are stuck at bots and would be able to track the steps anyhow.

I do NOT recommend this app unless you are someone who already walks/runs a lot already and you want to show off how much you exercise and be rewarded for your hard work.

### 1/5 — It is hard to get it work

*2024-10-01, version 2.24.0*

This is the kind of app that you have to reinstall several times, read the help, go through hoops, and it still doesn't work.

### 5/5 — Motivational!

*2025-07-11, version 2.24.2*

I needed something to help me get moving. I was like zombies! I did a searched on the interwebs and found a review about this app. It seemed like it was right up my alley. I have been getting my 5k steps in and then some. And I started jogging. This app is fun and easy to use. And the challenges fit my budget. I look forward to completing my first challenge.

### 5/5 — Loved the game

*2025-06-05, version 2.24.2*

We did a 4 week challenge and it was difficult getting others to participate, but we came in 7th out of 9 teams. I’m just glad we weren’t last.

*2024-10-29, version 2.24.0*

### 5/5 — Uploading issue

*2024-10-01, version 2.24.0*

Each time I open the app I have to read through all the little instructional statements. Is there a way to stop that? It say “loading complete” but still slowly displays the information.

### 5/5 — MJ

*2024-05-07, version 2.23.2*

I play each spring through work and love it. I pushes me to get steps because I want to try to make it to the safe house first. It’s a great motivator.

### 5/5 — Great motivational game to get in shape thriving off of your peers

*2023-06-10, version 2.21.3*

This game has kept me competitive if I notice I was short on my steps before bedtime I would go for a night walk just to make it up started wearing my phone during soccer basketball or any of my activities to get my steps in everything counts great game.
