## What is A?

The easy and fastest way to analyze the 2D-Truss problem now available in iPad. This version is tailored specifically for the iPad device.

Featuring:
    • Standard Truss Templates: with the standard truss template (19 types of truss for initial version) , you can easily create and config your truss as required.

    • "Custom Truss"; If the built-in standard truss template doesn't match your requirement, "Custom" your own Truss is also easy to create due to the Node & Element generating features.

    • Unit Flexibility: very flexible in Units system, you can choose any units at your convenience without the requirement to restart the application and the unit system is saved per your truss's project. For example you use m. as node coordinations while you choose mm.  for the deflection of the nodes or you can even choose in. or ft. for nodes's deflection (if you really need).

    • PDF Reporting: All result information of your truss are shown in PDF and also you can email this result.

This would be a great application if it worked. It provides no moments in members, crashes frequently, limited constraints, has limited results. I have no idea what this ap is good for if you can't constrain nodes or calculate moments

This app is very buggy, which is disappointing because it has a lot of potential. It would also be nice if it had US wood and steel sections built in. There are a lot of different truss profiles built in. The app crashes at random times frequently. This needs to be fixed for this app to be worth anything.

First, it isn't supper stable, but not so bad as to be terrible. The calculations are good and that is definitely helpful when you are wanting a quick look. However, there are some glaring issues with this as a really useful tool for an engineer.

First, and the biggest in my mind, is the fact that the program doesn't account for the distributed load of the truss itself. I designed a truss that shouldn't have been able to support itself, but the program doesn't account for the weight of the truss materials and because of this it told me that it was just fine with a very small load, which wasn't true. This wouldn't be quite so bad if it allowed you to add distributed loads, but all that you can do is add loads at each node. This means that you have to run some load calculations by hand and then add approximate loads at each node for the weight of the truss itself.

Second, is the lack of an undo. Again, this wouldn't be a big deal except that all changes are accept once you click out of a field. This means that if you accidentally click in the wrong field and make a change there is no way to cancel or undo the change.

If they were to make these changes, along with adding the capability to more easily make numerous versions of a single truss. For instance, adding the capability to make a copy of an existing truss as a starting point for a new truss. This would easily be a four star program.

To get a five star they would have make these changes and address the many stability issues.

Too much bla, bla and not enough information about the app use. Very difficult to edit the information. It is not possible to get out of edit mode when using the calculator, must use the iPad exit button since there's no way of returning to the working model. A very poor program, certenly not worth the 10 bucks

The setup of a truss was fairly easy once you get the hang of the quirky approach required.

I have three hangups with this app.

First, and this is the most serious.  You can't create a new truss by copying an existing truss and then modify it.  Trying different design variations of a concept is what structural design is all about. 

Second, the available units needs to include Kips and Kips/sq-in.

Third, there does not seem to be any way to add section properties from another country than the South Africa default.

Without these capabilities A-Truss is $9.99 toy rather than an engineering tool.
