I switched back and forth through commentary and no commentary. Sometimes the commentary would work but the main never works. Very disappointing. ### 2/5 — Unusable and frustrating *2026-07-27* Upon buying a backrooms blu ray today, I attempted to watch it over on the app and had the WORST experience trying to airplay it onto a TV (despite the app literally telling you it supports the features) the encryption makes it almost impossible to enjoy a movie. Not only that but audio issues are all too common when trying to play a film. Unfortunately a waste of time and you’re better off just getting the physical copies in person, lesson learned. A24 needs to look into this because I’ve seen way too many reviews with the same issues. ### 2/5 — Love a24 but this app is a little embarrassing *2026-02-11* Not being able to airplay in full quality or sound is no good. Plus constantly having sound issues where the audio won’t play and I have to swipe out of the app to try and make the movie play correctly. Overall this app looks good but is functionally really questionable. ### 3/5 — Fun app, only had one issue *2026-02-06* I’ve been a member periodically for a few years now. It’s a great app for A24 fans and film lovers. I really love the gifts and perks. I’ve also purchased some merch. I only had one issue recently. I had a few family members sign up on the app to receive a few free months. I forgot one of these family members (months ago) had given me their card to use as payment. They cancelled their A24 account in Dec but were charged for the membership last month. We forget their card was attached to my account. Long story short, A24 customer service saw the card was attached to me and took liberty to cancel my account and without consulting me for a payment. My account was cancelled and my money based credit that had built up on my account was gone. I re opened my account and asked customer service if I could get my $15 credit back and they claimed it impossible to redeem that for me. I love this app but cancelling my clearly active account without consulting me and then not redeeming the credit I earned. Really rubbed me the wrong way. ### 2/5 — Disappointed *2025-12-18, version 1.6.23* App is meh, some buttons to external links don’t work. Lost me completely at adding Kevin O’Leary to the Marty Supreme movie. Not supporting a maga in any way or any company that supports him. I only downloaded to claim my free digital download of Eddington but when I cast it to my tv a green distortion takes up half the screen. ### 3/5 — Worst Place to Watch A24 Movies *2025-07-19* Unfortunately, as the title says. If you receive a digital copy of a film on this app and want to watch it on your TV, there is no good way to do so. Using Airplay means you don’t get Dolby Atmos or Dolby Vision. Instead it streams in SDR! Why would you push people to watch movies in a way that is inferior to streaming directly from Apple TV instead? If A24 wants to have their own app, then they need to release an Apple TV app that streams the movies in their correct formats. Very disappointed with this app. ### 1/5 — Great with one massive deal breaker *2025-06-23* I love being part of the aaa24 program. Cool perks, well worth it. The thing is, it is virtually impossible to watch your OWNED library on any TV. Black screen when casting, app not available for Roku, Xbox, Smart TV. It’s really a shame that such a great company makes it so difficult to watch the movies you’ve paid for. ### 1/5 — The all-time, undisputed, 1 most frustrating streaming app *2025-06-19* This is an astonishingly poor app. A convoluted sign-in process if you aren’t a aaa24 subscriber. And annoying as that is you’ll have to plan on going through it almost every time you open the app. Crashing more often than it runs successfully. And since there isn’t an Apple TV app available, this (via airplay) is supposed to be the one way to view a digital movie you’ve purchased. Except trying to cast a movie from the app to your Apple TV box seems to be nearly impossible. However, the application and the development of it is poor. I would LOVE to see some improvements of the applications. I have one gripe, I wish you could link the app to Apple TV like most other apps. That way you can stream and view your A24 purchase from Apple TV. Maybe a future update?? Why would you make your members download an app to access something THAT THEY PAY FOR MONTHLY only for it to not even work. Even when I finally got it to load the screen for my free ticket it said I didn’t have one and I needed to contact support. Ridiculous garbage ### 2/5 — A24: Good. App: Bad *2024-04-26* So I really love A24 movies. I plan on buying and renting them in the future. I am thinking of signing up for AAA24. I am this close 👌. However, before I sign up, I’d like to get this app working correctly. I’ve made a free account and it notices me and lets me log in… but when I look at my profile it tells me to log in. Then I try then acts like it logs me in, but it doesn’t. I’d like to watch all these extra things when I can, but until I can get this app working correctly I’m not signing up for my membership ### 1/5 — Scam *2024-02-27, version 1.0.17* $5 a month covers “bonus” content not actual movies or shows. Complete ripoff. Paid $5 and ended just going to prime and pay for the movie I wanted. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Joke of an app *2026-07-30* I’ve had nothing but problems with this app. Free tickets that are almost impossible to redeem, depending on what you’re trying to do. Try to redeem it for one day ended up with a different date completely and couldn’t go. Get text regularly for Free movie streaming on app, but the movie doesn’t have any sound if it even loads properly. I immediately regretted how much money I spent on this app membership that’s over $100 I’ll never get back. ### 1/5 — Used to love *2026-06-27, version 1.6.130* I had a membership for almost 3 years but cancelled due to A24 partnering with Google AI. Not interested in whatever slop they make in the future. ### 1/5 — Purchased content not usable *2026-06-18* I have several A24 blu rays bought through their store which come with digital copies in this app. However the copyright protection means that you cannot stream the sound to air pods, Bluetooth headphones or speakers, or literally any other device. Also if you try to AirPlay onto a TV or do screen mirroring the copyright protection also blacks out your screen so you get no video and no sound. I purchased this content and am trying to watch it through the official app on devices that I own. What is this protecting me from? Just an awful and very consumer unfriendly choice made presumably to stop piracy. Thanks to this stupid choice the content I paid for is unusable for me. ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2026-06-07* I purchased physical media and received a digital copy of the movie. It said I had to use the A24 app in order to watch my digital copy. I created an account on the app and attempted to watch the movie and it will not load. It either goes to a black screen, or it goes to a blurred out screen with the play button over top of the blurred out image. I have tried turning off my iPad and turning it back on, and it is not working. I’ve seen other reviewers say that this app is absolutely terrible. 824 seriously needs to address these issues. They don’t even allow you to download your digital copies to your device so I literally cannot watch this movie.
