But it’s just plain unreliable and jittery, and the time-locked experiences I have with the free version don’t make me want to plunk down $10 for more of the same. Would buy if improvements to detection algorithm and output data streams were made. ### 2/5 — Good idea *2025-01-11, version 1.1.0* Like the concept but frankly I have found it rarely produces good quality translation of audio into midi even with simple input such as pads. With more complicated material I have never produced good quality midi . For Voice its very Hard and retriggers the Sounds often, so Short Sounds is Not really possible to send midi to. Using it with instruments that are keycorrect maybe works better. Also it Crashs allways when i try to Improve the quality I Hope it gets improved, ThumbJam did Great in that but i cant implement it as its iaa and Not auv3 ### 3/5 — Great but… *2024-05-28* The app is simple and doing its job fine. Slow tracking and the pitch recognition is good. But on my iPad Air gen4 OS 16 in AUM it crashes every 5 minutes. Pretty annoying and almost useless . Garage Band detects the MIDI Input, and the audio input level to A2M is perfect, but I get no MIDI output. Even MidiView shows no MIDI coming from A2M virtual port. In contrast, the MIDI Bass and MIDI Guitar 2 demo programs work perfectly with Garage Band. ### 1/5 — Funktioniert auf dem Mac M1 nicht *2023-08-06* Ich habe alles versucht. Die App neu installiert. Ich sehe den Ton hereinkommen aber die Midi Seite bleibt tot. Mit dem gleichen Klang auf dem iphone 7 läuft es gut. I would like my money back thank you **Developer response:** The app - standalone and plugin - has a built-in timeout that restarts each time it starts. It allows you to try out all the possibilities before purchasing. However, if you purchased it anyway, you can request a refund by clicking the "Report a problem" link in the email from Apple with the A2M invoice. ### 1/5 — times up *2021-12-26* wont allow me to pay or remove the times up in any other way, otherwise it worked for a few minutes. **Developer response:** We are happy you like the plugin so much you want to pay for it. So far, other users have had no problems with it. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — An amazing real time audio to midi tool! *2025-08-21* I needed to feed a midi converted pitches from my woodwind in order to feed a visualizer. This is straight forward, took me less then 5 minutes to configure everything and accuracy is very good! I used a small condenser microphone that fed input in A2M. In Ableton Live I just used provided virtual midi port and it works! These audio to midi tools aren’t widely available, but this one gets the job done! Thank you!!!! Other one I was trying was Doubler 2 but that is designed for a voice and on a woodwind it was making mistakes. ### 5/5 — best *2024-09-17* awwwwwwesome ### 5/5 — I love this plugin *2024-01-10* Like I said, I love this plugin. I used it to make a Pocket Miku sing to a Buddha Machine (check out the video on YouTube). It's also neat for creating interesting patterns on a drum synth (as kind of a "backing track" to an existing audio signal). And super simple. Mostly just get the gate threshold right. I downloaded the app today, and within minutes on my first use I got results that surprised me with their accuracy. ### 5/5 — This fixes the ‘lack of smack’ on my MIDI keyboard. *2022-02-03, version 1.0.3* I have a Novation Launchpad 61 - other MIDI controllers/keyboards are available - and it has no control over velocity curves or even really, a fine-tune enough on the impact force on the keys. I was looking for a fix - raspberry pi or other complicated ideas - but I put this into the FX chain in GarageBand iOS/iPadOS and crank the RHS dial up a bit - works. I don’t think it’s meant to work this way in GB, but it fixes the problem I have where I really would have to hammer the keys to heck and back, to get a decent MIDI velocity level inside GarageBand. The keyboard has Lo, Hi and Off for velocity. On Hi it’s still pretty low MIDI velocity comes out - eg 55? And by the time I hit hard enough to get it higher, it’s too much force I think. Plus, it loses all ‘feel’, I cannot put any controllable nuance in at that karate-chop level of force. And ‘off’ for velocity setting, has the obvious drawback of being 100% ie 127 all the time. Either I can modify it later manually, or use ‘settings’ inside GB song DAW, but that means I cannot get ‘WYHIWYG’ (!) when playing.
