That said the students have disappeared from the app 3 times in one week. Also it would be nice if the app wouldn’t take the settings away when it’s gone out of. It forces you to do the voice again. Lastly it jumps to the next task even though you didn’t actually start the last one (I.e. I gave child a break before starting Noun Vocab but when I go back it skips the Noun Vocab and goes to function). ### 3/5 — Not working with 10.01 upgrade *2016-09-23, version 2.6* The app is not working with the 10.01 upgrade. I used to love this app. HELP ### 3/5 — A good start, but... *2013-07-13, version 1.5* There's a lack of customization options. For example, the speech rate cannot be slowed, the reward sound cannot be changed (the current one is startling for some clients and childish), and the therapist cannot choose where to begin in a section (repetitive and frustrating, especially for those with short attention span). MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, THERE IS NO OPTION FOR SAVING DATA WITHIN THE APP. I have multiple clients and have to return to the resource room following each one if I want to print out results. If I start a new client without doing this, data from my previous client is gone. This feature has been mentioned many times in these reviews, yet it has never been added. ### 3/5 — Sound/audio *2013-01-16, version 1.5* Is there audio on this app? I went through half of the vocabulary activities, and couldn't hear the targeted word, despite tapping on the sound icon. Is it a bug that needs to be corrected? The app itself is good; I only downloaded it 30 min ago & haven't had a chance to know it well to give it a great review. ### 3/5 — Some good ideas. *2013-01-10, version 1.5* I think this app has some great ideas but it still needs to become more user friendly. First, make the rate of speech and the rate at which the prompts are given adjustable. Some kids cannot process that quickly. Then, make the data save-able, even printable. I didn't know how to save it and lost everything the kid did. (Still don't, in fact.). I'm sure I'll think of mor suggestion but this is it for now. ### 3/5 — Crashes *2012-12-06, version 1.2* I really love this app. It's a great aid to help me determine what AAC devices would be suitable for my clients (what features they need). My only issue is that it crashes frequently in the middle of each assessment on my first-generation iPad. However, I have this app on three different iPads and it will not talk on any of them. I have looked and looked for troubleshooting info to no avail. I can’t find a phone number on Hump Softwares web page. I tried googling for the number and can’t find that. I just want someone to help me figure out why it will not talk. The reinforcing sounds after picture selection are no longer there. Also don't like that the app updated without my knowledge before hand. How can I can back to the previous version? Gives great information. ### 5/5 — Easy to informally assess *2014-04-10, version 1.5* I am a school slp who uses this app to quickly assess a child's readiness for a symbol communication system. Very well designed and great to have if you need AAC assessment but don't have time or resources to wait for a full fledged evaluation. Nicely designed. ### 5/5 — Systematic Eval of Basic Skills *2014-02-08, version 1.5* This app is an instrumental part of most of my (hundreds) of AAC evaluations. I use it to give me information about simple touch access, discrimination with distractors, quick receptive vocab skills, and language organizational knowledge (categorization, association, problem solving with symbols). I love that it creates a data sheet that I just screen shot and save after each student to print later. I don't see this as a therapy tool but an effective way to get quick, systematic information that relates to my AAC device decisions. ### 5/5 — The best app!!! *2012-07-31, version 1.0* I was so amazed. I'm an SLP and I can definitely use this for therapy :) this is so worth it. Can't believe this app is for free. Thank you for your tech support. Your team is responsive and supportive. My app works wonderfully. It would easily be 5 stars if the date on the results page would stay on the date that the assessment was finished, not the date it is opened to print. Or to have the dates listed each time it is opened under that student’s name. ### 4/5 — Great tool to assist SLPs with the AAC assessment experience! *2012-10-10, version 1.0* I have really enjoyed using this app to assist me in the AAC evaluation process for one of my students. Through the various subtests included in AAC Evaluation Genie, I am learning more about AAC and the feature matching process. I would definitely come back to give 5 stars if we had the ability to save student data for multiple students. Additionally, I would like to see the developers make the "Clear all current user data" button less accessible. I have lost data a few times due to mischievous fingers. Overall, great app! ### 3/5 — I want to love but… *2024-08-16, version 4.2* The response time when you tap a selection is quite slow, whether or not the feedback is on or off. I’ve had multiple clients get frustrated, trying to make it switch to the next prompt by tapping multiple icons, which, then inadvertently creates a problem when the system registers those taps as incorrect selections for the next prompt. I don’t know if the software needs to be updated to work with next generation iPads or if there could be a way to increase the response rate when targets are selected! Other than that gives great information needed for AAC assessments! ### 3/5 — Response feedback issues *2021-01-27, version 3.8.5* I love the information this app provides, but I’ve had issues with the response feedback lately. I prefer to turn off response feedback because it makes the assessment take longer. However, when it’s turned off, there is no indication that I’ve selected a response at all when I select the correct response. It does, however, make a click sound when I select the wrong response. I would like there to be a quick uniform response regardless of the accuracy of the selection. ### 3/5 — Helpful, gives great AAC info, needs some fixing *2018-10-09, version 3.6* Hi, so excited about this app! I’ve started using it with my clients and I love the info it provides. I am having the same issues that another reviewer left in May, and I see there was a reply saying there would be an update to fix the bugs, but they are still there. Clients disappearing and starting at strange places if you accidentally exit and try to return. ### 3/5 — Love it when it's working *2018-09-12, version 3.5.2* This app is great and can provide very functional information, but I find that most of my clientele that I use this with get deleted somehow, which makes data comparison from administration to administration nigh impossible.
