### 2/5 — Critical Design Flaw in Aadhaar Lock & Biometric Lock Recovery

*2026-07-26*

I appreciate the effort to modernize the Aadhaar app, but there is a critical design issue in the current implementation.

If both Aadhaar Lock and Biometric Lock are enabled, the app creates a circular dependency:

* Aadhaar Unlock requires Face Authentication.
* Face Authentication fails because biometrics are already locked.
* Biometric Unlock cannot proceed because Aadhaar remains locked.

This leaves users with no recovery path within the app.

The previous mAadhaar app allowed recovery using OTP, but the new authentication flow has removed that fallback. As a result, users who enabled both security features can become locked out of managing their Aadhaar security through the app.

I have already reported this issue with detailed technical information and screenshots to the UIDAI support team. I hope the development team reviews this regression and provides a recovery mechanism such as an OTP fallback or another secure alternative.

Until this is resolved, users may have to disable important security protections just to continue using the application, which defeats the purpose of providing these security features.

### 3/5 — Auto Brightness to be Disabled - Several other options to be included

*2026-06-06*

After opening the app, while entering the pin, the app automatically increases the phone brightness level which is very uncomfortable

Hence auto brightness may be disabled or restored to phones normal settings. It is Highly recommended

As enlisted in maadhar, several other options are also to be included in the app to facilitate users for accessing the options

### 4/5 — Face Authentication phase needs improvement but the ability to change your mobile number is amazing

*2026-05-30*

You no longer need to wait in long queues to get your mobile number updated, you can do it from an app now. That's great, but the face authentication phase needs an improvement. I did it on second try though.

### 3/5 — Limitation on adding Family Members

*2026-05-23*

The Aadhaar app is a convenient platform for accessing and managing Aadhaar information. However, I encountered a significant limitation - it only allows adding 5 member profiles.

As a family of six, I'm unable to add the sixth member to the app. This restriction seems unnecessary and causes inconvenience. Many families have more than five members, and this limit should be reconsidered.

### 1/5 — Worst Government App

*2026-05-10*

As a user of this app its frustrating every time, each time it’s asked for registration if once done why need to login registration again and again,
I added aadhar of whole family but after logged in everything gone every time i have to register my self and have to add family members aadhar ,
Even had to make attempts to register many times and most of time it shows failed , this app is not useful at all when we need to show as ID to someone its asked to register first 🤯
Worst “ Digital India “ 😡

### 1/5 — Face authentication does not work

*2026-04-26*

The Aadhaar app experience is extremely frustrating. I have been trying for 2 days to complete face authentication while changing my mobile number, but it keeps failing with repeated errors.

This feels like an unfinished product. A basic flow like face registration should be properly tested across devices, lighting conditions, and real user scenarios before release. If this feature is mandatory for users, then it needs to be reliable, clear, and supported with meaningful error messages.

Right now, the app is wasting users’ time and creating unnecessary stress. Please fix the face authentication flow, improve error handling, and ensure proper QA/UAT before pushing such critical features to production.

### 1/5 — Very poor experience

*2026-04-01*

Face authentication does not work at all. It fails every single time, making the app extremely frustrating to use. Overall, the app experience is really bad, with frequent issues and unreliable functionality.

Before focusing on UI or design changes, the developers should first fix the core functionalities.

An app like Aadhaar needs to be stable, accurate, and dependable, which unfortunately this app is not at the moment.

### 4/5 — Updated My Number in 5 Minutes

*2026-02-18*

I went to an Akshaya center to change my Aadhaar mobile number. I waited almost three hours, felt exhausted, and left without completing the process. Later I found the Aadhaar app. Within five minutes I updated my number successfully. The fee was only ₹75.

The app saved time, energy, and unnecessary travel. The process was straightforward and efficient. Much better experience compared to visiting the center.

### 1/5 — For IOS devices not supporting

*2026-01-27*

The application doesn't works properly in ios devices if we start the process it will complete all steps of verification but when comes to the last step of verification it doesn't complete the process it will start showing facing technical issues try again try again. This issue I raised since two months but still nothing resolved and developer is not responding still now. For iOS devices this app is useless

### 5/5 — Extraordinary!

*2026-01-01*

For a Government of India owned app, this is more than you can ask for. Extraordinary in functionality and purpose. A masterpiece in style and execution. Others like the SBI Yono should learn from the developers of this app. However, I would like to see it open with Apple’s inbuilt face ID instead of the old-fashioned PIN, which is not secure anymore. Hope the developers add that feature in future updates.

### 1/5 — Unreliable mess—resets every update and fails when you need it most!

*2026-07-30*

I managed to install and register, but that’s where the smooth experience ends. Every single time an update drops, the app completely wipes my progress and forces me to redo the entire registration process from scratch.
This time around, I am completely locked out, endlessly stuck at the SIM binding step. My network connection is rock solid, and my active SMS pack has plenty of balance, yet the app stubbornly throws the exact same error: "unable to send an sms."
It’s an absolute tragedy because the core concept is genuinely useful. But thanks to shockingly amateur design and profoundly incompetent maintenance by the development team, this app is utterly untrustworthy. It always bails out and abandons you right when you need it the most. Fix your engineering!

### 1/5 — Stupid logic

*2026-07-20*

Biometrics lock/ unlock are disabled. For this to work you need to unlock aadhar /VID and so brilliantly when you try to unlock Aadhar/vid last step is face authentication and guess what it is unsuccessful as in the first place biometrics are locked. Great. Award to the app designers/dev. I miss the individual lock unlock functionality from the legacy app. This new app functionality makes no sense. Also if you have added your family members and unlock any 1 biometrics luckily then when you switch profile the same biometric timeline shows up on the other profile which you never unlocked. Fantastic. Please bring legacy lock unlock functionality.

### 1/5 — Unable to Complete SIM Binding

*2026-07-18*

I have been trying to complete SIM binding on the Aadhaar app for the last two weeks, but every time I get the same error: "Mobile Number Verification Failed. We're currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again."
The verification SMS is sent successfully, but the app fails during mobile number verification. I have tried multiple times on different days, with a stable internet connection, but the issue remains unresolved.
An app meant for such an important government service should be reliable and functional. It is very frustrating to be unable to complete a basic verification process for weeks without any solution or proper support.
Please fix this issue as soon as possible.

### 1/5 — Persistent Mobile Number Verification Failure During SIM Binding in Aadhaar App

*2026-07-08*

I have been trying to complete the SIM binding process in the Aadhaar app for the past two days. However, every attempt results in the same error message:

"Mobile Number Verification Failed. We're currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again."

The verification SMS is sent successfully, but the app consistently fails during the mobile number verification step. I have tried multiple times on different days using a stable internet connection, but the issue remains unresolved.

Considering that this is an essential government service, the app should provide a reliable and seamless verification process. It is extremely frustrating to be unable to complete such a basic requirement for weeks without any resolution or meaningful guidance.

I request that you investigate this issue and resolve it at the earliest. If there are any alternative methods to complete the SIM binding process while this issue is being addressed, please inform.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

### 1/5 — Really worst app, previous app is better than this

*2026-07-07*

Really worst experience with this app. Every government app has some other issues, specially the slow process as well as the so many steps and in this app, it’s really worse than every other app. The previous app was better than this. At least we can take the download Aadhaar Card and PVC card or Smart card. We can apply it and now they are charging as well. They are charging for each and everything small small product. Also we paying taxes and the other things whether it’s rude, the product quality everything it’s worst in India.

### 1/5 — Forcing citizens to install a useless app

*2026-06-21*

The app itself has lots of bugs and doesn’t work most of the time. They have also removed many simple features of mAadhaar app. Just look at other reviews by users.

Because this app is useless and people are not installing it. They are now forcing it on everyone. This is what peak incompetence looks like.

As soon as it asked for face authentication I knew that I will not be using this app, I don’t even use FaceID on my iPhone because I just like using a simple PIN. It makes no sense. What is the use of face authentication in this app?

Can’t secure the aadhaar data from leaking but trouble people in the name of security by asking for face authentication. This is just like how citizens of this country are harassed in the name of safety and security everywhere they visit as if we are 24x7 under threat causing delays, lost hours, etc. And even all that security doesn’t keep people safe.

### 1/5 — Hire me to fix this app

*2026-06-10*

Very poor user experience. The SIM binding process only worked on my second attempt. Face authentication failed all 3 times despite following the instructions correctly.

After that, the app suddenly redirected to the Aadhaar number screen and displayed random toast messages without any clear explanation. I had no idea what was happening or whether the process had succeeded or failed.

The app needs significant improvements in reliability, error handling, and user feedback. For an important government service, users should not be left confused about the status of their authentication process.

### 1/5 — Mobile Number Verification Failed. We're currently experiencing technical difficulties.

*2026-06-10*

I have been trying to complete SIM binding on the Aadhaar app for the last two weeks, but every time I get the same error: "Mobile Number Verification Failed. We're currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again." The verification SMS is sent successfully, but the app fails during mobile number verification. I have tried multiple times on different days, with a stable internet connection, but the issue remains unresolved.

### 1/5 — Unable to Complete SIM Binding Since Last 2 Weeks

### 1/5 — Core design principles is so weird app is only for people who use one sim with poorly designed auth

*2026-06-07*

App don’t allow to do simple register with mobile otp and wanted to verify by sms bind by sending message. How does people who Uses multiple sim(regular sim for normal purpose and different sim for service like this) to be more secure and safe will use this app. Engineering team and application team who develop these kind of apps need to think through before solving an problem and not creating new problem

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Mobile number update

*2026-07-24*

When you do mobile number update option. Otp comes to le number which you put but after otp system automatically pick the mobile number you are using in the mobile as old number. Also, payment error always comes. Please check

### 5/5 — Highly recommend

*2026-07-22*

I’ve been using the Aadhaar App, and it’s a wonderful application. The services are easy to use and save a lot of time. I no longer have to take leave from work for routine Aadhaar-related services, as most tasks can be completed conveniently through the app. It has made the entire process much faster and hassle-free. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Log out option

*2026-07-18*

The Aadhaar app has a major usability issue. Whenever I log out, the app completely removes all saved data and device authentication, forcing me to set everything up again the next time I log in. This is very inconvenient and frustrating, especially for users who need to access the app frequently.

Logging out should simply end the current session, not erase the app’s configuration or require the device to be authenticated again every single time. This adds unnecessary steps and makes the overall experience poor.

I hope the developers improve this behavior by allowing users to stay registered on their device while still providing a secure logout option. It would make the app much more user-friendly without compromising security.
Thanks

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for the feedback, we understand the frustration.

Logout clears the locally stored Aadhaar data and device authentication because, per UIDAI's security guidelines, this sensitive identity data can't be kept on a device outside an active authenticated session.

### 5/5 — Does not start at all

*2026-06-15*

I keep seeing the “Begin Journey “, and it does not respond to the command press, very very frustrating when you are at a KYC session and want to unlock your biometrics. I was embarrassed, and caused inconvenience to many people waiting in the queue. I later learnt that once you log out of the session, it resets your phone number association. You should not log out. Simply close the app without logging out

### 5/5 — Feels like, “they do care how an app should be”

*2026-05-26*

App is easy to access and intuitive. Request placement and UI is minimal, simple and to point. Love how fluid everything is, and can’t believe it’s a government app. Updating personal information never been more easier. Interactive layout and approach. Great job team!

### 5/5 — Great app, but please add an email update feature!

*2026-05-25*

This app is really convenient for managing Aadhaar details and handling demographic changes, but it is missing one crucial feature: the ability to update our linked email address. Since we can already handle other updates directly from our phones, allowing users to change or link their email through the app would make it a complete, one-stop solution. It would save so much time and avoid unnecessary trips to an Aadhaar center just for a simple email change. I really hope the development team adds this in the next release!

### 5/5 — Amazing interface

*2026-05-23*

The app is pretty easy to use now. Biometrics locking and unlocking made very easy. It was a challenge before. I’m sure my parents would be able to easily use it who are not that tech savvy.

### 5/5 — Head of family change

*2026-03-26*

Visited branch to get head of family updated and waited for 3 months still details not updated and then i updated head of family through this app, couldn’t believe within 5 minutes details updated on adhar card. Simply amazing and outstanding. Highly recommended this app.

### 5/5 — Amazing updates

*2026-01-29*

Dear viewer/developer/authority. Excellent app and amazing update and truly digital. Eagerly waiting for name update feature. Please bring it soon. Many people including me face name issue, spelling mistake, missing middle name and such update using app is very much required. Please bring name change update soon

### 5/5 — Useful App

*2026-01-29*

Was able to update my phone number online. Request was completed and number updated within 15 mins saving a lot of time. Thank you for adding this feature.
