Times out very quickly, whole process has to be done again. Tried 3 times and have given up now. What is this horrible implementation?? Can I please talk to the dev working on this? Email me, I am a product manager and can fix this ### 1/5 — Ravi *2025-11-24* I keep receiving 9600 on my iPhone while trying to open scan from Jeevan Parmaan. This is so frustrating, was this app even tested ? I am not sure what to do with this , why do we published apps that’s are not tested. This one doesn’t work and there is no support documentation to troubleshoot also. It just wastes time. Keep getting Facebook RD app error 9600 ### 1/5 — Indian government app are ther worst *2025-07-11* Like almost every other government app, this one is not able to do the 1 job it was supposed to… first run doesn’t prompt for permissions to camera, got to do it manually. When it does click, it’s not able to authenticate. Why would you really get this app on the play store when it didn’t work, beats me…. ### 1/5 — Worst App ever *2025-06-09* I have never seen such a pathetic biometric app which I couldn’t even clock in in the office for a day. A message to the Aadhar authority from me, learn how to make an app instead of boasting about making AI technology in our country. Shame on you central govt. No matter countries like China has attained developed status and they are far better than us. I wish there was an option to rate 0 or negative stars. You don’t even deserve one star. ### 1/5 — Worst app *2025-04-09* What is the use for this kind of stuff when it doesn’t work cannot open it Government should concentrate on improving the stuff which is already there and not just opening 100 of apps with the same information every where ( m adhar, DigiLocker and now the new one) Old apps are not working properly and some times failing to work correctly. ### 3/5 — Not taking in exact GPS location without wifi *2024-10-08* The GPS location accuracy is poor or not programmed properly as without turning on wifi it rarely connects even when exactly at the gps spot on iphone 13 . ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Error 9901 *2026-08-06* This app is extremely frustrating to use. On iPhone, it never asks for camera permission, so there is no way to enable camera access. Every attempt ends with Error 9901, making Aadhaar authentication impossible. I have tried reinstalling the app, restarting the phone, and checking all settings, but nothing works because the app never requests camera permission in the first place. This is a government app used for essential services. Basic functionality should work reliably. Please fix the camera permission issue and Error 9901 as soon as possible. ### 1/5 — Not working with Umang app on iPhone 13 *2026-06-22* I’m trying to perform “Face Authentication for of already authenticated UANs” option under EPFO service of UMANG app and when doing so, the UMANG app redirects to AadhaarFaceRD app with a infinite loading icon and nothing happens. I’m repeatedly getting SMS from EPFO to complete this step, but this AadhaarFaceRD app does not allow me to do so. I have given all required permission to the app, still doesn’t work! Please help!! Thanks. ### 1/5 — Kk *2026-06-20* It is genuinely embarrassing that in 2026, a standard candidate trying to apply for a government job has to deal with an app this broken and counter-intuitive. Why is the government making it actively harder for students to access career opportunities? We are dealing with strict application deadlines, and instead of a seamless process, we are forced to solve a tech riddle. The UI is completely non-existent, the cross-platform compatibility is a joke, and trying to get a simple face scan to register feels like an IT exam in itself. Standard commercial apps run flawlessly, yet essential public services feel stuck a decade in the past. Fix this garbage. Applicants shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to submit a form. Absolute rubbish. ### 1/5 — Worst app *2026-06-11* Why is face verification mandatory via this app when the app itself is unusable? It crashes every single time it is opened and has never worked successfully for me even once. Forcing users to depend on a broken application is unreasonable. Either fix the app properly or stop making it mandatory. The current state of the application is a complete failure and causes unnecessary frustration. ### 1/5 — Face id not enabled *2026-05-12* Worst experience with the UMANG + AadhaarFaceRD app on iOS. The app permissions don’t work properly, face authentication keeps failing with errors, and the submission process doesn’t even continue after verification attempts. Very disappointing for a national-level government service app. The user experience, stability, and iPhone compatibility seriously need improvement. ### 1/5 — Re-Kyc with BPCL not working *2026-05-08* Tried multiple times, Re-Kyc stucks in this app after face scanning and shows processing which never completes. Till date not done!!! I don't know why mandatory with aadhaar when this document is not accepted as proof of DOB, address and doesn't contain father name !!!! I'm hating Indian system now who is permitting aadhaar kind of baseless things to work as mandatory ### 1/5 — WORST *2026-03-18* I have been trying to activate my UAN and it asked me to download this app but I keep getting error 9901. If you can’t manage the apps properly then why would you make this process so complicated? First, the EPFO website asked me to download UMANG where we have to register and go through multiple verifications and be redirected again to AadharFaceRD only to crash multiple times. It’s always the same pathetic case all across the government websites. ### 1/5 — Unreliable app *2026-03-01* The verification process was very frustrating. After capturing my image, the app kept loading for minutes and then rejected my KYC due to what seems like a system error. Now I’m locked out and unable to retry the process. Fix such technical issues and allow users to restart KYC when failures occur. I think such app must be removed from appStore and only put back after rework. ### 1/5 — Face rd app error 9901 *2026-01-20* I am stuck to do my UAN activation from belgium for important residence permit document, am always getting this error 9901 and there is no help in anyway, i have tried everything from contacting helpline to writing email to in app chat but nothing works and nobody helped. This is worst app I have ever used. It is impacting my work because of this. ### 1/5 — Useless apps like these damage the face of the country and make us look bad *2026-01-13* Government apps are the face of the country. You falter in them, it damages the reputation of the country. This app being one stop biometric app for crucial services of Indian government, should work seamlessly. The app on the contrary should be a case study on how an app should not be designed. None of the government apps are good. NONE. Whoever the developers are, need to be either reskilled big time or replaced with ones who can do a better job. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — For online eKYC *2026-08-16* Indeed the thought of installing and authenticating the FACE RECOGNITION and synchronisation with addhar based data sounded too complicated n laborious process to me at start. But once I have installed this app and found that this app does not uses ur face by itself but only b activated using the AADHAR Based activation from third party applications and can be useful tool for doing e-KYC !!! One thought to all techies up there , are u all sick nuts ??? If at all I had to do home based and app based facial recognition why on earth govt of India has done UIDAI based adhar detailing??? I meant ONE APP (UIDAI shall b asked to b clubbed or ask for permission in app services whenever all other apps or device providers require for a adhaar based OTP OR UPDATE or eKYC !!! I mean it’s sheer stupidity and nonsensical of all technology stewards who ask a common man to install one app every time (coz it’s use is often one time based )for doing e-KYC updates . GOVT OF INDIA must take imitative steps to protect all personal data and for that we need to cut down all (3rd) part apps into one parent app !!! Common guys be more smarter !!! I felt like Elon musk is asked to first open an account on google then he wd open another account on facebook finally he has to open Facebook every time to make his twits !!! ### 5/5 — Quick & awesome *2026-08-14* I have completed my E-KYC for HPGas within 30 seconds and I received confirmation from them within a minute. Very fast and user friendly app. This must be enabled to update the Aadhaar as well if possible as we can avoid going to Center and update it manually. ### 5/5 — Installed smoothly *2026-03-30* Process is smooth. Confusion is due to clear direction. Simply installed Indane App and then this app. Of course being headless this won’t open on own. So, open Indane App that takes to this App and process of capturing face completed fast. In 30 seconds, Indane messaged confirming ekyc complete. ### 5/5 — Job done *2026-03-16* App completed the eKYC for Bharat Gas in a matter of seconds. It was simple and effective and made life easy by doing biometric (face) authentication sitting at home. Thank you for good work. Please note this works only in conjunction with ‘Jeevan Pramaan’ app. ### 5/5 — Very easy to use, ensure you have WiFi *2025-02-02* Just now successfully submitted digital life certificate for my parents . It was very straightforward and easy. If you are trying, please ensure you have good WiFi (I used stable WiFi), good lighting on the eyes to capture blinking eyes. This app will be called/automatically triggered by Jeevan Praman app. Great job by app developers! ### 5/5 — Smooth affair. *2024-11-05* Had read a lot of negative reviews of its usage on IOS devices and hence was reluctant to download and use. However to my pleasant surprise the entire process of downloading the two Apps and submitting the DLC was without a glitch. Apparently the bugs have been fixed. ### 3/5 — App needs fine tuning *2025-11-07* While performing the BPCL eKYC using the Aadhaarfacerd app, the process did not work as expected. It first redirected to the IndianOil app instead of proceeding within the BPCL environment. After uninstalling the IndianOil app, the process again redirected to DigiLocker. Only after uninstalling DigiLocker did the eKYC finally complete successfully. This suggests that the Aadhaarfacerd app may not be handling intent redirections properly when multiple Aadhaar-linked apps are installed on the device. It might be using a generic intent for Aadhaar authentication, causing the system to pick another app with a similar capability instead of routing it correctly. ### 3/5 — Serious issues with deeplink *2025-09-20* I was doing hp gas ekyc but after biometrics it was opening umang app once I deleted that it open digi locker once I deleted that app it redirected to hp gas app. Seriously do something about it.
