Poor functionality. *2026-08-02, version 4.3.0* The app has a lot of interesting and useful information and resources. The functionality leaves a lot to be desired. It’s very glitchy and the navigation is not intuitive. I signed up for the 30-day fitness challenge and have to search for it every time I want to do a workout. Signed up for a free AI course— good luck trying to find and launch it! When I did find it, it didn’t recognize that I was enrolled — until I enrolled again and it said “it looks like you’re already enrolled!” Umm…thanks? On that note, it keeps the annoying “enroll in auto renewal”banner persistent and it often follows your progress down the page, blocking content. It should recognize that I’m enrolled and leave me alone. Lastly, you can add another member to your account, so I added my husband. Or tried to. When I submitted his info, I got a message saying the name couldn’t be the same as mine. Huh? Closed that window of nonsense and tried again next day — his name was on the account. Sigh…. All in all, if you can tolerate and navigate around the nonsense it’s excellent content and worth the membership. Some things work better on a desktop or laptop and I’m sure the app will catch up eventually. I just feel bad for those folks that aren’t tech savvy because it’s gonna get old fast — no pun intended. ### 3/5 — Too many ads *2026-07-31, version 4.3.0* The app works fine and has good information but has way too many ads ### 2/5 — Confusing *2026-07-28, version 4.3.0* So many misdirects I felt like I had fallen into a Click-Bait website. 10 minutes to find and hit the right renew button that actually worked. My Inbox LOOKS like it was designed to imitate your email inbox with a notification number at the inbox icon ~ don’t be fooled ~ it’s 100 of the same fluff articles you already ignored. And , the video games are not working properly on your phone or laptop. It’s just a gimmick to get your attention and force you to watch ads after each round of play. The entire AARP app has been designed to be a time-suck, making you think you’re productive; but you’re just stuck wasting time with pop up ads and unnecessary notifications. ### 1/5 — Not iPad Enabled *2026-07-05, version 4.3.0* App is definitely not iPad enabled which is ludicrous. Attempting to use app on an iPad is an exercise in frustration. Suggest updating this to both iPhone/iPad ASAP. ### 2/5 — Problems loading games ads never stop *2026-07-02, version 4.3.0* I have this app on my android phone and it works beautifully there. On my iPad I get endless ads while opening games and the games will not open. It seems to be stuck in a loop. The other aspects of app seem functional. Can track points and see benefits l. ### 1/5 — Poor *2026-06-27, version 4.2.3* While AARP claims to be a advocate for retirees and those of us who are older they create a app update that requires the latest smartphones and cannot be used for anything older. Not many of us (the people that they claim to care about) can afford to buy the latest phones. I have contacted AARP about this issue and have been just blown off. ### 1/5 — Lousy App and poor interfaces *2026-06-27, version 4.3.0* This app is beyond low quality. 1. I cannot use it in airplane mode. 2. The app wants to connect to the “mother ship”, all the time violating my privacy. 3. I cannot play games on it when my cellular data is off. The games retain no memory if you want yo catch up later. Even free games apps, keep up the memory, provide you opportunities for preventing ads. Unfortunately, the aarp app doesn’t allow any of that, despite sucking up membership dollars. 4. The app frequently logs me out, and after I log back in does not retain my settings, making me start all over again. 5. Many apps after you pay for services will not bother you with more advertising. Unlike them, even though one pays for AARP membership, the app strings in poor seniors who have already paid for AARP membership with more sucker ads. AARP is supposed to protect seniors from exploitation. Instead in my mind the AARP app appears to exploit the very seniors it claims to respect and protect. 4. App support is left to some stupid automatic response engine , whose responses leave the user frustrated. Enuff said. AARP is designed to be exploitative (why peddle ads to members through games who have already paid) , and frankly frustrating. ### 1/5 — Install *2026-06-25, version 4.3.0* Install doesn’t work when you click on the link. You have to keep going to the App Store to get the link and it only gives you an option to open the app, never installs. You need to update the install link so it actually works! ### 1/5 — This may seem petty… *2026-06-18, version 4.3.0* I open the app and get a pop up on that shows I have earned rewards for logging in. I click on “do not show this again” link in the pop up. The very next time I open the app I get the pop up again showing me how many daily log in points I’ve earned with the “dont show this again” link in the pop up. What is the point of offering to not show the pop up again if it just comes up again? I don’t like pop ups in general and the fact that the “don’t show this again” option does absolutely nothing taints my user experience. ### 3/5 — Rental car codes not working *2026-06-18, version 4.3.0* Keep saying code is wrong ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Updated right out my iPad *2026-08-24, version 4.2.3* Your upgrades have made your app useless on my iPad. And no options to choose a compatible version. I can't afford a new iPad. So I'll have to stop using AARP. Boo! ### 1/5 — Not as Advertised *2026-08-23, version 4.3.1* This app is not user friendly or easy to navigate. The pages take forever to load and often freeze the screen. The print is very small which I find ironic as AARP is typically associated with Seniors in mind. The settings menu was incredibly difficult to find and upon arrival it would not allow me access to customization options. In frustration, I attempted to downloaded the app on my iPad. That experience was even worse as the app has frozen within the initial setup sequence and I can’t access it at all. I was looking forward to enjoying the additional benefits offered with my membership but I have only wasted an entire afternoon without any real progress. Unless the developers make additional improvements, I don’t recommend wasting your time or storage space on this app. ### 1/5 — Severely Broken *2026-08-20, version 4.3.1* This app doesn't work. 1. It does not render correctly on iPad, the screen gets cut off in landscape orientation. 2. It keeps bugging the user to enter their phone number and says it is sending a code, but the code never arrives. Yes, I did double check my phone number was entered corrrectly. ### 1/5 — Horrible over complication! *2026-08-10, version 4.3.1* What should be a very simple process is made intentionally over complicated, and a major frustration! You have developed multiple applications with slightly different titles, which only adds to the confusion and unpleasant experience! Apparently, AARP Now, is the first place to go, but is almost impossible to locate! It crashes all the time, logged me out and then won’t let in, and many of the menus do not work.
