However, I share the road with younger and less watchful drivers; I often have to accelerate quickly to get into traffic or get out of the way and the app penalizes me for each instance. Perhaps the location and length of acceleration should be taken into consideration? The app works quite well and fits the bill nicely. ### 4/5 — Great product *2025-11-13, version 3.0.4* Been using SafeTrip for a couple of years. Great way to assess driving habits. Unfortunately, my driving score has been over 85 for months, but my rewards never increase, even after being promised 450 each month I’m over 85. I can load the AARP app from that page but that is all. ### 1/5 — Useless *2025-11-02, version 3.0.4* Useless period ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2024-11-23, version 2.1.0* I don’t really know what this APP does or if it is useful, as it will not let me past the login screen. The screen asks me to review all the terms and then press the confirmation button when it turns red. After 3 hours the button has not turned red. There are links to other sites … but none of these cause the button to turn red. I really don’t know what this APP does, but I hope the designers did not spend much money building it as it is totally non-functional. Great thing to have … if you want to stare at a screen. I’m offloading it to make room for apps that actually work. ### 1/5 — Won’t one *2024-11-19, version 2.1.0* Can’t get the app to open once I downloaded it. Keeps saying error ### 1/5 — Poorly designed *2024-05-23, version 2.0.0* After I downloaded the application and log in I get an error about my browser had add blocker on it or it was set to not support cookies. I have both of there enabled to protect myself and my phone. Need to redesign your application, I don’t have issues with any other application complaining about them being enabled. ### 1/5 — Nope on location to Always *2024-05-01, version 2.0.0* There is zero reasons to have the location set to Always! ### 1/5 — Punishes Skillful Driving *2024-05-01, version 2.0.0* After two weeks of perfect scores I narrowly avoided a major accident by a brilliant swerving and breaking maneuver. I was so relieved and, at my age, a bit proud. Until I got home and saw this app hammered me for breaking too heavily and cornering badly. Are you kidding? No good deed goes unpunished with this app. That earned a DELETE. ### 1/5 — Location ALWAYS a no go *2024-02-21* Gas buddy has/ had a similar safe driving feature, but it doesn’t need to be always on This is an invasion of privacy deleted. And if someone can’t click when it requests you for location when using then they shouldn’t be driving to begin with. So giving an answer it’s so you don’t forget, is giving forgetful people a pass to be in the middle of nowhere when they don’t know where they’re going. ### 1/5 — Could not get past the privacy setting. *2023-07-28* I was not able to get past the privacy settings for this app. The developer collects quite a bit of personal information along with usage data to sell to other parties. The captcha algorithm failed several times when I tried to establish my privacy settings relating to that data. Not being able to even get past that I am deleting the app. Seems to be very poorly written and does not favor user preferences which attempt to reign in distributing personal data. If you don’t mind having all your personal data commoditized, then this could be an okay app. I, however, was never able to even experience the app core function. **Developer response:** Hello, Wstd1mt. I use another app for insurance reasons, but I think SafeTrip is a better tool for driving improvement. I have changed my habits on breaking cornering and acceleration because of this app. I highly recommend it. ### 5/5 — Promotes safe driving habits *2026-05-21, version 4.0.0* I turn SafeTrip on every time I use my car and check trip results after returning home. First of all, it is not tied to any insurance program and you can use it to to get used to safe driving programs (Truelane, GEICO) without getting penalized. It gives accurate feedback on your driving and recommendations on taking safer routes. Certain privacy advocates may not like it, but for me the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and it can also be useful in court to establish that you are in fact, a safe driver. I use this program in conjunction with TrueLane® by The Hartford, AARP’s recommended insurance partner, and so far they match. In my case, I just had to modify my driving a little bit, and yes, it is a bit safer. ### 5/5 — Great for seniors *2026-02-14, version 3.0.4* I’m a senior. My father was legally blind and drove when he shouldn’t. A cousin was legally blind, and drove when he shouldn’t. My husband is legally blind and drove when he shouldn’t. I will never drive when I shouldn’t. My eyesight is great, but is my driving? I use this app to see how my driving is and when it gets bad, if it does, I will quit driving. ### 5/5 — Very Helpful *2026-02-12, version 3.0.4* I really like the app because it gives me incentive to drive safely and carefully. Screens and items being scored are identical but overall scores vary by 35 points! 65 on Hartford and 100 on AARP.
