## What is Aava?

The way you talk to others is not the way you talk to yourself.

Aava is for people who are kind to everyone but themselves. It treats self-talk as a skill — something you practise, not something you're stuck with — and it uses the one voice your brain can't dismiss as someone else's opinion: your own.

You're patient with your friends. Generous with your team. The first to say "that's not a big deal" when someone else slips. And then you make one mistake and the voice in your head sounds like a code review with no line breaks.

HOW IT WORKS

Write the sentence you'd say to a friend in your situation. Record it. Listen back — at night, on a walk, while you work. The words don't change. The voice reading them does, and that turns out to matter.

You'll hear it in your own voice, in your own words, with the option to layer binaural beats underneath for sleep or focus.

WHAT'S INSIDE

Your Voice: record beliefs in seconds, one take at a time, and build them into playlists
Guided writing prompts: "how would you talk to a friend who just…" — made a mistake, feels behind, got criticised, is comparing themselves, can't start. Say it to them, then say it to yourself.
Your Path: nine structured programs — Foundations, Boundaries, In Your Skin, Healing Era, Magnetic, Abundant, Steady, Momentum and Switch Off — each one a warm-up that gets you into a better state before you record
Ready-made beliefs across confidence, work, body, relationships and sleep when you don't have the words yet
Binaural and ambient layers, sleep timer, background playback
Days you've shown up, not a streak that punishes you for missing one
Reminders, home screen widgets, and a Switch Off path built for bedtime

WHO IT'S FOR

People with high standards and a harsh inner narrator: engineers, designers, PhD students, people who build things alone. If nobody reviews your work before you judge it, this is for you.

If you're looking for manifestation, vision boards or affirmations read by a stranger, there are good apps for that. Aava isn't one of them.

WHY YOUR OWN VOICE

Hearing a recording of yourself is uncomfortable for almost everyone at first. That discomfort is the point: it's the same reflex that rejects compliments and accepts criticism. Aava walks you through it in the first two minutes, and most people stop noticing by day three.

AAVA PRO

Aava is free to download. Aava Pro unlocks all paths, unlimited recordings and the full belief library, with a 3-day free trial. $4.90/week or $49.99/year, billed to your Apple ID. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings. Any unused trial is forfeited when you purchase.

Your recordings stay on your device.

Built by one person who talks to himself worse than he'd ever talk to any other human.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 2.0.1 — 2026-09-09

"you are" is now Aava.

Same app, sharper purpose. Aava is built for one thing: learning to talk to yourself the way you already talk to the people you care about.

New onboarding that shows you your self-talk gap before it asks for anything
Guided writing prompts: what would you say to a friend in this exact spot?
Your Path: nine structured programs, each one a warm-up before you record
A new bottom bar — Today, Your Voice, Your Path, Explore, You
Warmer, brighter inner app for late-night use
Bug fixes, including a crash when editing your name

Your existing recordings and playlists are untouched.

### 1.9.0 — 2026-09-03

Your playlist no longer stops when your phone does: Background Play.

Lock the screen, put it in your pocket, or fall asleep with it on — playback keeps going. Unplug your headphones and it pauses instead of blasting the room.

The playlist is one screen now. Press play and the cover becomes a slow-breathing orb, the line that's sounding lights up so you can follow along, and the controls stay with you as you scroll. Press back and the mini player comes with you.

Also in this update:

- Real track lengths instead of estimates
- The sleep timer is reachable without leaving the player
- A calmer playlist list — fewer buttons, more of your words

Everything still happens on your phone. No account, no cloud, and your recordings never leave the device.

### 1.7.0 — 2026-08-26

No release notes.
