## What is Abacus Farming?

Abacus Farming helps South African farmers organise crop plans, production budgets and grain marketing records in one place.

See your farm’s projected financial position, compare crops and understand how changes in yield and price could affect your results.

YOUR FARM AT A GLANCE
View projected portfolio profit, direct production costs and marketed tonnes. Identify incomplete budgets and review planned crops from your dashboard.

PLAN CROPS AND PRODUCTION
Manage farms and seasons, record land or field names, and enter hectares, expected yield and delivery silos.

BUILD YOUR BUDGET
Choose a combined cost per hectare or itemised production expenses, including seed, fertiliser, lime, pest control and fuel. Enter known costs per hectare or calculate costs using quantities and unit prices.

COMPARE SCENARIOS
Explore pessimistic, expected and optimistic yield scenarios. Use the price and yield sensitivity grid to understand how different assumptions affect projected profitability.

RECORD GRAIN CONTRACTS
Keep contract references, tonnes, locked prices and delivery silos together. Review marketed progress alongside your production plans.

COMPARE FARM PERFORMANCE
Use the Summary matrix to compare selected crops side by side. Filter by farm, field and season to review costs, expected tonnes, marketed tonnes and projected profit.

VIEW MARKET INFORMATION
Review available commodity quotes and their source timestamps. Calculate a farmer pocket price where supported silo basis data is available. Saved plan prices remain unchanged until you explicitly replace them.

RECORD RAINFALL
Enter farm rainfall observations and review recorded history and seasonal totals.

ENGLISH AND AFRIKAANS
Switch between English and Afrikaans within the app.

An account is required. Market information depends on data availability and may be delayed. Internet access is required for market updates and cloud synchronisation.

Financial results are estimates based on your inputs, saved prices and available reference data. They do not guarantee actual yields, selling prices or profit.
