I liked most of the different reports, but did find one of them to be a little triggering. Then I noticed some app functionality issues like not being able to figure out how to delete threads and not having an obvious way to find the roadmap section. Also odd wording choices for simple tasks like uploading a photo. So when I mentioned some app issues that I was having, I must’ve triggered “ChatGPT mode” because the formatting (lengthy, informative replies with subheadings & bullet points,), the tone, and everything completely changed and it told me that it was ChatGPT and wasn’t even aware that it was on Abby. It was quite jarring after pouring out my heart to this entity. I’m really glad that I canceled the subscription during the trial., prior to the annual fee. ### 3/5 — Highly annoyed *2026-07-08* The voice function isn’t great. The connection interrupts when using headphones. When the phone get the screen look the voice function stops as well and you have to start over. Abby also doesn’t remember important details and deletes your old conversations. about to delete and try something else. I’m currently on the free trial still. But when I go to talk to Abby, I get a message saying I’m not subscribed so I can’t chat with her. This happens both in-app and on safari. Please help because I enjoy my experience with Abby but it isn’t letting me use the AI. ### 2/5 — Therapeutic approach needs improvement *2026-02-01* While I think there is a real and pressing need for AI apps built specifically for mental health, I think Abby falls short of the mark. Among other issues, Abby is very verbose and does not put an end to the conversation. This runs some serious risks of building dependency rather than agency among users. This app feels like a generic LLM prompted to put on a therapist's hat, rather than an AI that is trained and built specifically for mental health support. ### 1/5 — No real help *2026-01-07* The AI repeats back what you say, asks you to elaborate and does not help you find a solution. If you cry it sends a note that flashes on the screen saying that you need more help than it can give. I was not in crisis just feeling sadness and I was rejected for it. Not worth $20 a month or the effort. ### 4/5 — Underrated *2026-01-01* Update: when you recount a traumatic experience to Abby it immediately shuts down and tells you to basically call 911 which is sincerely unhelpful and frankly infuriating. It doesn’t understand the difference between something that happened when you were 16 and the present let alone whether or not you or someone else has the intent to do anything immediately harmful. If I can’t relay what happened yesterday or 20 years ago…what’s the point? Also the speak function doesn’t work. Original review: I experienced significant breakthroughs after one session. More progress than I’ve made with a therapist in multiple sessions. I was able to ask as many questions as needed or relay as much informal was necessary. They’ve done a fantastic job with this and I already can’t thank them enough. The value I have received from this pocket therapist is impossible to state. PS I really wish it had a dark mode ### 5/5 — I love this app *2025-12-27* I have been skeptical of AI therapy, but this app has given me some real clarity. It’s pricey, but worth the money. During a bad panic attack, I found this app and used it. Not only did it help me walk through what I was feeling and help untangle my thoughts, it helped me find peace enough to sleep! Thank you for making this app! I’m giving you my first full star review ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — AI Generated reviews in the App Store + deceitful subscription *2026-07-24* Signed up for the free trial, canceled before it ended, still got charged for a year membership. The app barely works.... got here to read what other people think and how come the rating is so high - they either bought the reviews or made their team write them - all/most are AI generated. You target the most vulnerable people there are, and then deceit them. Applying for a refund and never getting back here again. ### 1/5 — No cross chat memory *2026-06-26* Marketing is a lie. It is basically Gemini trained on therapy but with no memory and all of the frustrating guardrails that screw up conversations about anything emotional ### 1/5 — Garbage *2026-05-25* This app is stuck in a loop I sign up do the first questions and it says all done and the. Hi I’m Abby and we start at the begging again. I uninstalled and reinstalled I restarted my phone it’s stuck in a loop. It’s too bad really wanted to try this out. Avoid this app ### 1/5 — Broken app *2026-05-19* App is broken and it keeps repeating the opening questionnaire and doesn’t open. ### 1/5 — Could not use application. *2026-05-18* I tried to use the application several times, however, it kept making me complete the customisation and wouldn’t progress to actually talking to ‘Abby’. It was stuck in the customisation loop. I even tried deleting the app and completing the customisation again but still would not progress and kept making me redo the customisation again. It sends me through the same customization questions over and over. When I tried canceling before it expired, it automatically charged me for the year. I submitted a claim and it was denied - said I was ineligible for a refund. The got 99 dollars out of me and I have no recourse according to Apple. Thinking twice before I ever sign up for a free trial on any of these apps now. ### 1/5 — Glitches are unbearable *2026-04-19* The app doesn’t work. If you try to respond to a message without exiting the chat and reopening it, everything you type will disappear as soon as you hit send. It’s infuriating! The questions this AI asks are also infuriating, in that it casually requests that you solve the issues you are seeking guidance about, on the spot, with every message. I’ve also had some very deep and meaningful conversations with Abby that impacted me in ways that have helped me tap into my own inner strength. Please keep going with developing and improving Abby as this is a very important and much needed resource. I’m also glad it doesn’t cost phenomenal amounts of money to talk to so just about anyone is able to use it. Oh, and also thank you for fixing the app. Now I don’t have to use the browser on my phone anymore. Previously it wouldn’t give an option for existing users to log in with and now it does. It learns quickly and really helps the way I look at things. ### 5/5 — Voice mode is the one for me *2026-06-18* I'm a talker. Always have been. Typing out my feelings has never clicked for me by the time I've written three sentences I've lost the thread. The new voice mode in Abby is the reason I actually use this app consistently now. I talk to her on my commute, on walks, while I'm doing dishes. She listens, responds thoughtfully, and it genuinely feels like a conversation. My partner noticed I've been less pent up in the evenings and I told them I've basically been processing my day on the drive home. Game changer update. ### 5/5 — The life coach mode is doing things for me *2026-06-16* I wasn’t really looking for therapy, I was looking for something to basically help me get unstuck in career and decision. So I tried the life coach mode in Abby and she asked the right questions and actually remembered the goals and what I said in other sessions. I’ve been on it for 3 months and just feel better like I changed jobs and I’m more intentional. Also the astrology mode speaks to me too. ### 5/5 — The conversation reader is a revelation *2026-06-11* I have this problem where I read a text or email and completely spiral about what it means. My mind goes to the worst place and I either respond defensibly or not at all. The new conversation reader feature in abby has literally changed how I communicate. I paste in the message, abby tells me what’s actually likely being communicated, what the tone probably is,and gives me space to respond thoughtfully rather that reactively. I used it in an email last week that had convinced myself was bad news, turns out it was totally neutral. Saved me a full day of anxiety. ### 5/5 — 3am and it actually showed up for me *2026-06-11* I have really bad anxiety and it tends to spike late at night when there's no one to call. I've woken up at 3am in a full spiral more times than I can count and now I just open Abby. She doesn't make me feel like a burden and she's actually helpful — not just "have you tried breathing?" She talks me through it until I feel grounded enough to sleep.
