### 2/5 — Feels half assed

*2026-08-28, version 2.1.0*

There is no way to get an actual piano diagram, the time is very annoying to control, I feel like they were so close to making a super fun and useful tool to capture ideas they are just missing some things

All in all kinda fun but super annoying to use

### 3/5 — Need Piano Roll input!

*2026-08-22*

I really need piano roll midi input method rather than realtime rec with pad or keyboard.

### 3/5 — Decent but needs major fixes

*2026-07-21, version 2.0.1*

Had a good time learning how to use this. Not the smoothest tool, but it helps get ideas down. Built a pretty good track but all of my progress was lost the next I opened the app. Very unfortunate. Maybe it needs a save function.

### 2/5 — Be aware of the cloud syncing

*2026-07-01, version 2.0.1*

Make sure you open the correct version of your track on the right device before syncing deletes your new project with an older version. Screwed up projects by opening older sets. Was digging a track I was working on a while back. Listened to it earlier in the day on my iPhone, then decided after work that I wanted to work on it that same project again but from the iPad instead. When I opened the project it was an older state and was confused so I linked WiFi and when I opened the project from my iPhone it synced with the older project because I had just opened it and linked to the the internet. Damn I hope there’s a way to view various renditions of projects because that sucks if all my work just got erased from a stupid error like not opening the correct one first. How many projects has this happened with I think now.

*2026-06-30, version 2.0.1*

### 5/5 — Crashing

*2026-06-29*

The last update broke the app to me.

### 3/5 — Drift Restore Purchase Bug Persist

*2026-06-28, version 2.0.1*

Once the in-app purchase for Drift is made, you have to constantly restore the purchase. If you are away from wifi or cellular data, it shows as if you haven't bought Drift. Then after restoring the purchase, the bug persists occasionally, but often. I already reached out to support via email months ago. They said that is not the way it's supposed to go. They said you do not need internet to keep using Ableton Note or the Drift in-app purchase once you have made the purchase.

I don't always want to be connected to the internet, plus if you are on vacation and you don't have internet everywhere you are going, then the Drift in-app purchase bug is not acceptable.

Other than that, Ableton Note is EXCELLENT, but it will take some time to trust that i can use Ableton Note & the Drift in-app purchase offline. They still have not fixed it and it's been a bug that has persisted for months & with other people too. That's not acceptable.

### 5/5 — Wow! From a big mobile studio user

*2026-06-23, version 2.0.1*

Im a huge mobile music studio user and I gotta say that I love what Ableton has done with Note. They’re definitely carving out their own niche in the game.

6/23/26
Best version ever! The scrolling instrument menu at the top of the current instrument allows users to choose established tracks without having to back out of the presented instrument view…big time saver.

### 5/5 — Sehr intuitiv und umfangreich!!!

*2026-06-16*

### 5/5 — Have to wash but its ok

*2026-06-11, version 2.0.1*

Sometime I use this app while using the toilet and I end up with the residual material dry making it harder to clean.

### 3/5 — A Five Star Experience With A Glaring Issue

*2026-06-08, version 2.0.1*

A melodic rhythm struck me late into the evening, computer powered down and bed calling, but I had to jot it fast or it’d be gone with the wind—Ableton Note’s (reasonably priced) selling point. So I purchased the app, impressed with the sounds and options for creativity except… the rhythm in my head was in 5/4. I’ve scoured the internet, searched Note’s manual, and yes sure I can switch the met off and play it but I needed to see it in a grid to understand the counter rhythm to the beat. Changing the time signature is like surely the most basic function a DAW can perform so I’m still questioning myself, wondering if I’m overlooking something obvious—flabbergasting nonetheless when I can choose from every scale known to humankind for the digital instruments but there isn’t a little dropdown menu in the metronome tab for different times. Hope to update this to five stars soon if Ableton can correct this.

### 4/5 — A améliorer

*2026-06-05*

### 5/5 — Interesting app

*2026-05-31, version 2.0.1*

Interesting, but no support for aum and audiobus. Planning?

### 3/5 — ?

*2026-05-30, version 2.0.1*

Why isn't the Drift Synthesizer showing up after purchase?

### 3/5 — This was my favorite app, now midi stopped working

*2026-05-25, version 2.0.1*

For the longest time this worked flawless with external midi keyboard, then suddenly midi functionality seams to stopped working. I tried a different keyboard, still not working, however my controller works perfectly fine in garage band. Not sure why this functionality stopped working….

### 5/5 — Beauty

*2026-05-23, version 2.0.1*

It’s beauty I wish it more beauty

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Constantly annoyed by additional paid download

*2026-08-20, version 2.0.1*

I bought note years ago and they have slowly improved it over time. Until they added a new device, which they charge for: no problem, I just won’t use it. BUT IT IS CONSTANTLY ADDING IT TO MY SETS in a trial capacity, without the ability to adjust the sound. Please add a preference to not include devices I don’t own - even if you do there are already sets which are tainted.

### 1/5 — UPDATE THIS APP COME ON

*2026-07-10, version 2.0.1*

not even compatible with voice memos?????? ITS AN IOS APP WHAT ARE YOU DOING. so many missing midi features that it's honestly getting unusable at this point. it's been two years and there's been no substantial updates. Come on.

### 1/5 — UPDATE THIS APP COME ON

*2026-05-23, version 2.0.1*

so many missing midi features that it's honestly getting unusable at this point. it's been two years and there's been no substantial updates. Come on.

### 1/5 — Disappointing update to pad layout

*2026-05-16, version 2.0.1*

Hope its a bug. Displaying larger range of notes on pad has ruined how I use the app. Less accessible now that there are too many buttons on the pad closer together. Hope they at least provide an option to get back to the old pad layout

### 1/5 — Charged me $38?

*2026-03-23, version 1.7.3*

Not sure why the app says $7 but it charged me $38.92

### 1/5 — Fiddly Unintuitive UI — Sequencer Incomplete

*2026-02-12, version 1.7.3*

Not a huge fan of the UI or the workflow. I think the midi-editor could use further refinement.

Wish there had been a demo-version with limited instruments / effects so I could have tested the app first. As it is, it feels like a waste of money. It’s just not for me.

### 1/5 — Decepcionante

*2025-09-24*

Espero q em próx atualizações adicionem o modo horizontal

### 1/5 — Wrong layout in note mode

*2025-06-27, version 1.4*

On iphone13 Only shows 4 by 4 pads in Note mode instead of 5 by 5. Not only that, but the 5th note is missing altogether. It seems that it uses the drum pad layout even for notes.
Useless until fixed.

### 1/5 — Woof

*2025-04-18, version 1.3*

They took a fun simple/easy idea machine and made it a complex mess. Can I get the old version back?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This is the best app ever

*2026-08-27, version 2.1.0*

Definitively. Hands-down. It is Ableton after a fashion, and it’s in my phone. Something about the way it’s set up is conducive to making fun music. And I can export not just samples, but basically project files into Ableton itself. I don’t even rate apps on the App Store; I’m rating this one. They update it more than is probably profitable for the company. I don’t know, maybe that’s not true… but it’s amazing nonetheless. I feel like I had to say something.

### 5/5 — It’s Ableton what can you say

*2026-08-15, version 2.0.1*

Amazing app to compliment the desktop version. Love sketching ideas and opening them up in the studio!

Add Track

### 5/5 — Fight doomscrolling by making music!

*2026-08-04, version 2.0.1*

I have personally benefited from Ableton Note being easy to jump into. I have made over 400 tracks (of varying quality) since the app first launched. It has helped me avoid social media when I am bored. I also bought the synth engine add-on and I haven’t come to regret either purchase. I like how limited it is. It’s a fun challenge to make a full track. I truly believe that you could make a full song, only moving into Ableton 12 for mixing and mastering. However, I haven’t done this more than one time. I just make stuff on my phone for fun. And fun it is!

Edit: They’ve also improved it with each and every update! This is a worthy investment.

### 5/5 — Best on-the-go music app

*2026-07-31, version 2.0.1*

This app is fantastic! As a blind musician, this app is one of the very few that is actually totally useable with VoiceOver. Hats off to Ableton for making this app accessible for us little guys. Extremely impressed. There are some very minor improvements that can be made to improve ease of use, like the macro labels being duplicated. Since the knobs themselves are labeled, I wish they would hide the text label, as it only adds an additional swipe to focus on the next knob. Nevertheless, this is a minor complain in an overall great app. Even the MIDI note editor is accessible, though not too useable, as it takes too long to use. Having a sequencer for the notes would be much faster, so first, touching the note you want to edit, then focusing on a step editor and moving through the note steps would be great.

### 5/5 — The Innovative Solution

*2026-07-27, version 2.0.1*

Very useful app for making a bank of found sounds on the go . It’s a very powerful tool / companion too Ableton Live Suite and because of its usability and simplistic nature it’s always available in your hand . I started on this on the week of its release and have seen it grow and change into what we have now . Pro :The cloud is great and uploading too it is very easy. Con : there is some hidden changes too the important aspects of Simpler as it doesn’t load in the same format. Pro: it has the ability to capture audio straight into each drum rack pad with some rudimentary edit and manipulation functionality. Con: as of yet there is no 32but float function which can make it challenging too monitor and record in real time .Pro: there’s a grid with quantise and nudge functions etc . Con : it’s a bit fiddly to get into could do with a latch /gate function on a single button for quick editing so you can monitor the other sounds and output while making changes. Pro : there’s a mixer that utilises touch strips and allows for gain structure. Con. It’s a challenge too see the level of multi touch fader movements on smaller phones while editing. I rate this app a solid 8/10 . For where it’s currently at with a few more granular and spectral functions and some au integration it will be a great daw on your phone . Well done and Thank you . Too everyone at Ableton excited and inspired for what you do next 🙏👏

### 5/5 — Wow! From a big mobile studio user

*2026-07-27, version 2.0.1*

7/27/26: wow! Beta version allows for landscape mode; a must fir implementing. As is the MIDI bouncing.

Im a huge mobile music studio user and I gotta say that I love what Ableton has done with Note. They’re definitely carving out their own niche in the game.
