Now way too expensive, and the automatic renewal feature makes you pay $318 annual dues before you even know it’s imminent. Really not an okay practice, to increase the price by over 20% and not alert the subscriber. 
Academia.edu is only moderately useful and no longer worth the cost.

The subscription cost for academia is getting more and more insane. These are greedy people who only care about gatekeeping knowledge. 

You can find most of these papers for free online elsewhere. Use google scholar, JSTOR, or Research gate to access these papers.

Dark mode is free feature provided by Apple in the SDK (software developer kit) this has been industry standard in apps now for years. How are we in 2026 and you don’t have this free (copy & paste code)that Apple offers you, embedded within your app?
