## What is Accessible Travel Simulation?

This concept demonstrator Accessible Travel Simulation “serious game” has been developed to support disabled people to better access rail travel on Northern.

This project was funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) and Connected Places Catapult Transport Research and Innovation Grant – Accessibility program.


Chrome Angel Solutions and Totem Learning are collaborating with partners Northern, Community Rail Lancashire and Angel Trains Limited to work with users from Northern Accessibility User Group and Community Groups. This concept demonstrator is for testing the approach to help support securing funding for further development for the many enhancements and ideas that have been identified.

A number of bug fixes, character voice over, additional information content.

+ Total conversion of art style (station models, characters, etc) and animations to bring in-line with COVID Secure Travel (Network Tales).
+ Many extra art assets were added over the first release to improve art quality.
+ More efficient asset loading at runtime to improve performance on mobile devices.
+ Restricted camera viewing angles and implemented a “Back” button for returning to waypoints behind the player.
+ Improved Crowd system implemented in Large and Small stations with vertex animated NPCs.
+ Updated ambience audio and several sound effects.
+ Updated UI for Info Panels for clarity & readability, and added videos to info panels.
+ Updated UI for player Objectives.
+ Added Credits screen to the Settings menu. Removed from Help Desk screens.
+ Added Intro sequence on first launch, and Replay Intro button to the Settings menu.
+ Updated Links page with up-to-date URLs and page titles.
+ Various minor bug fixes.
