### 4/5 — Add gyro-sensitivity

*2013-04-21, version 2.0.1*

Great dictionary. My one beef is that it doesn't have gyro-sensitivity, so it cannot be used with the wider screen/keyboard.

### 4/5 — Great as a basic reference

*2012-07-09*

Excellent search engine often finds words when you have spelt them incorrectly (i.e. if looking up after just hearing a word).

Database is big - hardly ever can't find a word. Good for casual use (e.g. on holiday). However, it is not suitable for more complex translation (e.g. translating a novel) as it doesn't always contain all the different uses of a word or examples of how it's use differers in different contexts.

If you are doing advanced translation you need a more advanced dictionary.

Would like to see a way of storing user defined set(s) of words (rather than just a search history as now) to help with memorising a set of words.

### 4/5 — Used it all over France

*2012-01-07, version 2.0.1*

On a 3+ week trip to southern France and then Paris, this app was my constant companion. Provided invaluable help in deciphering signs and especially menu items. Only suggestion is to have it work in landscape.

### 4/5 — New

*2011-12-02, version 2.0.1*

I just got this app and it seems pretty good so far. Oh and for anybody who looks up "to ride" you won't find it because in French there is no verb that means "to ride".

### 4/5 — Good, but needs landscape mode.

*2011-09-16, version 2.0*

This is app is good as a French dictionary, especially because it can identify other forms of words and words typed accent-less-ly, redirecting them to the appropriate entry. I have found great use for it.

The one complaint I really have is that it only works in portrait mode. Working in landscape would make this app much more convenient as the case I use (and that which most others use) leaves it to rest on a table in landscape mode, NOT portrait mode. Please fix!

### 4/5 — It's good but

*2011-08-04, version 2.0*

Why not build it so it will switch to landscape mode?

### 4/5 — First Impression

*2011-08-02*

Only just purchased ahead of France trip. Looks quite comprehensive in terms of French TO English but, disappointingly, there doesn't seem to be the reverse, i.e. English TO French will be another purchase.

### 4/5 — Mr

*2011-07-05*

Found this app very useful keeping intouch with surroundings and obvious aid to conversation!

### 5/5 — Price is right

*2011-05-22, version 1.0.5*

Adequately comprehensive for the purchase price. Great tool for learning and fast enough to help in broken conversation where each party know a little English or French.

### 4/5 — Great App

*2011-04-15, version 1.0.5*

The only thing this app lacks is a pronunciation guide. If it displayed the pronunciation in IPA for each word, it would be phenomenal!

A verb conjugator would put it over the top.

The app icon and buttons in the app need to be re-rendered for the retina display. They look really pixellated, especially when compared to the crisp text.

### 4/5 — Great holiday refresher

*2011-03-30*

Having studied French many many years ago to A level, I wanted a dictionary to refresh my memory before & during a French holiday. I found this app fitted the bill exactly & recommend it to others with previous or rusty French knowledge.

### 5/5 — Lové it

*2010-12-31, version 1.0.5*

Inexpensive but great app.

### 5/5 — C'est bon

*2010-10-21*

C'est vraiment bon ça marche bien et se n'est pas cher

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No conjugaison

*2012-09-06, version 2.0.1*

It's a very very simple dic. You should not pay for it. Might suit for tourists but not for French learners. My money wasted!!!

### 1/5 — Very Dissapointing

*2010-10-18*

Terrible with many missing and misleading results.

### 1/5 — No good

*2010-10-07*

October is not in it. The directory is too small.

### 1/5 — No definition for ride?

*2010-07-16, version 0*

The first word I look up is ride, and it has no French translation except if by ride you mean "assault on horseback"? Nor translation of the noun form except if you mean "take for a ride" i.e. swindle? What a POS I want my money back.

### 2/5 — Missing a few essentials

*2010-06-25, version 0*

Apparently no translation (E to F) for days of week or months. How could a dict not supply these?

### 3/5 — Update

*2013-11-20, version 2.0.1*

Pretty useful app, but it would be nice if it was updated to iOS7.

### 3/5 — Pretty Good, Needs a little improvement

*2012-05-25, version 2.0.1*

This app is pretty good, especially for the price. However, I really wish it had landscape mode. Seems to have a decently large amount of entries and is very easy to search.

### 3/5 — Ardy

*2011-01-29*

It is so so

### 3/5 — weekdays and month

*2010-10-17, version 0*

no question that the app should have days of week and month translation, Would appreciate that updated app became available soon.

### 3/5 — Good but some critical things lacking

*2010-07-09*

This is very good, lots of words and expressions but it fails in some of the basics, for example there are no country names, days or months, which is a bit odd!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Please update!

*2022-01-25, version 3.2*

Please update this so it can work with newer versions of IOS!! I loved this app so much but now it doesn’t work

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2016-08-30, version 2.1*

This excellent dictionary is very easy to use. I use it every day

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2014-01-27*

Incredibly good dictionary - accurate, fast, neat and straightforward.

### 5/5 — Excellent Translation tool

*2012-11-01, version 2.0.1*

Having a basic knowledge of French I found this tool extremely useful finding the meaning of French words (on signs and menus etc.) when visiting French-speaking Québec.

### 5/5 — French-English dictionary

*2012-07-18*

I have found this app to be very useful for finding words whilst reading a French novel. It's clear and easy to use.

### 5/5 — Used daily in Paris

*2012-07-08, version 2.0.1*

My iPhone had no service in Paris, but everywhere I went I was able to use this dictionary on the fly. I used it to help me read menus and signs. It was also helpful for composing questions. The speed and simple interface made this app very practical.

### 5/5 — Great!!!

*2012-06-23, version 2.0.1*

I use constantly. It's really good. I love that it leaves a history of the searched words, so later on you can review what you have learned.

### 5/5 — Really useful

*2012-04-04*

I use this all the time. Works offline.

### 5/5 — ACCIO French English dictionary

*2012-03-28, version 2.0.1*

Just fine. Easy to use and quite complete.

### 5/5 — Perfect for my needs

*2011-09-23, version 2.0*

As a student learning French I find this dictionary an excellent choice. I'm at about level B2, and it is very rare that I haven't found the word i'm looking for. I especially like that it has the verb conjugations in the search function, including the rarely used (in conversation) passé simple. The history function is wonderful; as I read and look up words it keeps track, and then I use the list to make flash cards. My one critique: no landscape mode. But not a big issue.
