### 5/5 — A financial calculator that works!

*2012-10-13, version 1.0*

Simple and does the job! I'm taking a Finance course and wanted a financial calculator that will have the 'time value of money' functions, and surprisingly this app is the only one that fits! (amongst the free apps) Thank you!

### 5/5 — A treat

*2012-09-14, version 1.0*

Does its job. Thank you for not whoring yourselves out to advertisers. It means a lot to me.

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2012-07-17, version 1.0*

Perfect for simple interest calculations.

### 5/5 — Excellent!!

*2012-05-28, version 1.0*

I've been using a BA II for 20 years, but I keep misplacing it, or I find it with dead batteries. As the developer says, the basic 5 function keys are by far the most useful. Additional functions may be useful for some, but I always found they added confusion and just got in the way. I (mildly) disagree with the review that suggests a default payment frequency of 1 period per year. That makes sense for long-term investments, but not for repayment of typical real estate, auto, or consumer loans with traditional monthly payments. And this is all I use it for. Realistically, it would be OK either way -- the user can easily adjust the frequency as desired in the setup window. This app is a simple concept, executed to perfection. I now have it with all the time, and the battery gets charged every night. Thanks for a great (free) app!

### 5/5 — Better than the HP 12C!!!!!

*2012-05-17, version 1.0*

The HP 12C is a great calculator BUT when solving for "n" (working with PV, i, and FV) it rounds. This calculator saved me!!! It's simple but its better than the $5 apps out there for the HP12C calculator. Thank you so much!

### 5/5 — Finally!

*2012-02-06, version 1.0*

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I already own a financial calculator, but I don't carry it everywhere. Nor do I care to spend $25, just to compute monthly payments. This is exactly what I needed.

Thank you!

### 5/5 — Basic mortgage calculator

*2011-12-18, version 1.0*

This is a very basic mortgage calculator. It does exactly what you'd expect from a financial calculator without many bells and whistles to confuse you. It is easy to use

### 5/5 — Scaled-down HP 17bII

*2011-08-23, version 1.0*

This is the only thing you need to compute auto loan and mortgage and simple TVM. You can play with variables such as APR, monthly payment, or N or PV. Make sure you set C button to "Hit C twice to clear TVM" by pressing OPT button. This way pressing C button at least twice will clear precious calculations and stored values.

Functions like the HP 17bII and the calculations are spot on when compared with the HP.

The UI is simple and plain but I wish there is help as to how to use the other buttons.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed

*2011-05-17, version 1.0*

The app is minimalist and attractive. It doesn't have a ton a features, but that keeps it easy to use and allows for bigger buttons and faster calculations. I was looking for a financial calculator, and while this doesn't capture all features I could ever want, so many financial calculations can be derived from simple TVM. It will keep a place next to any other calculator I have as the less-hassle go-to app for simple problems.

### 5/5 — It works!

*2011-04-12, version 1.0*

Great tvm app. Just be smart and ensure right settings-number of periods and decimal place on interest rate.

### 5/5 — Simple

*2011-02-28, version 1.0*

Default settings are to 12 periods per year. This might trick some people, as it did me. I would recommend making the default 1 period as this is the default of most TVM calculators that I work with. It's nice to have a simple and free TVM app for the iphone. But if all it has is the simple five key format, I don't think it has much to compete with other full functioning financial calculator apps should this ever cost money in the future. Recommend if all you need is I, N, PV, PMT, & FV.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn't calculate negative/positive correctly

*2014-06-17, version 1.0*

All calculations for FV come out negative, irrespective of whether or not the PV amount was negative (standard) or positive.

### 1/5 — Cant get a payment

*2013-08-12, version 1.0*

Waste Of time

### 1/5 — Software developer

*2013-01-29, version 1.0*

This app gives wrong answer?! Fix it or remove it from the App Store!

### 1/5 — TVM

*2012-11-18, version 1.0*

The calculations are wrong. Tested it against excel and BAII PLUS. Tried beginning of period and end of period, and I couldn't get the app to tie to my calc.

### 1/5 — Real Review

*2012-10-19, version 1.0*

This app is horrible. Yes it's easy to use and free, but when the answers are incorrect none of that really matters...

### 1/5 — Horrible ui

*2012-09-06, version 1.0*

Needs ui improvements and an in-app manual. No, I won't go to your website. Ui is counterintuitive.

### 1/5 — Doesn't calculate correctly the tvm

*2011-03-22, version 1.0*

I have compared to my financial calculator and this one does not calculate the correct amount. I would recommend the tvm one for 4.99 as it works a lot better and more user friendly. With this app, I always end up with -inf or the incorrect information, which is inaccurate.

### 3/5 — Button stop working

*2024-03-03*

Used to be a fantastic little app, and a few OS upgrades ago it stopped working saying it was “out of date” was very happy when I saw the developer create an update but ever since then buttons do not work, so you can’t input any information. Every couple months I check back to see if there has been an update to fix the input problem; so far nothing.

### 4/5 — Not working!

*2023-07-26*

I’ve used this app for years. Please fix it.

### 5/5 — Perfect. I’d pay for it! Just tell me how!

*2023-03-16, version 2.1*

The simplest and easiest to use of any financial (TVM) calculator. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the developer for updating to the current version of iOS!

**Developer response:** I am glad that you’re enjoying the app. Sorry that it took some time to come back on this. Let me know if you find any bug!

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — An App worth saving

*2021-05-15, version 1.2*

Excellent App. Hope you will be able to rewrite the App to work with the latest iOS.

### 5/5 — Wish there was a paid version

*2020-05-10, version 1.2*

Simple calculator with only the most essential functions, but I’ve used it for years and find it perfect for a quick calculation. Developer deserves to make a little from it!

### 5/5 — Great APP- Easy to use

*2017-04-15, version 1.2*

Fabulous app! We use it in our financial coach training classes and it works beautifully. Easy to teach, easy to use. Many thanks to the developer!

### 5/5 — Great free app!

*2017-01-12, version 1.2*

Bravo!!

### 5/5 — Stop. Read the "how to" and love it!

*2013-04-12, version 1.0*

Great app. Thanks for putting this together. Contrary to my nature, I read the instructions first and it works great. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2013-04-03, version 1.0*

App is easy to use - just be sure all of your settings are correct before computing anything!

### 5/5 — Just what I was looking for

*2013-03-07, version 1.0*

I was looking for a financial calculator that could calculate the Time Value of Money. I was hoping to find one that was (most importantly) accurate, (hopefully) cheap or free, and (preferably) simple. Accurately was a perfect fit! Contrary to a few bad reviews that other users have written, I find this calculator to be 100%, well, accurate. Make sure you know the function of the OPT key to make correct calculations in terms of time, and consult the online user manual if you have questions (like I did about the storage - by the way, this calculator stores up to ten numbers!)). The website is in the description. It's not hard to use at all.

### 5/5 — ALEXPOINT

*2013-02-24, version 1.0*

Buddy, it looks and works great. I just have a small request: can you add a semiannual period as an option? Thanks.

### 5/5 — Great app after a small tweak.

*2013-02-21, version 1.0*

Works well AFTER I changed the periods to 1 per year. Not sure why, but it doesn't work for me with 12 periods per year. Gives the wrong answer.
