### 3/5 — Nice app

*2026-08-16, version 1.0.7*

I like it so far but for the cost of the subscription its in a similar price tier as carrot and as of now does less than carrot. I wish it was easier to see a summary of the day/week and I’d rather have city location at the top rather than specific streets especially when traveling. Also would like to see a different app icon. Hopefully improvements are coming cause this has great potential

### 4/5 — Change the app logo!

*2026-07-31, version 1.0.7*

Everything else works as advertised but the logo is terrible.

### 2/5 — Just not accurate

*2026-07-25, version 1.0.7*

I really want to love this app. It comes with an amazing pedigree, it looks great, it has some nice ideas but…well, it’s just not accurate. Over a week it forecast rain more than half a dozen times when it was dry as a bone outside. Being pretty doesn’t count for much if it can’t actually forecast the weather reliably. A shame

### 3/5 — Amazing UI

*2026-07-23, version 1.0.7*

I love the interface, how everything is made very simple and easy to access. The only thing I feel disappointed in is the accuracy of the app. Sometimes it would say it would rain, but no rain many times. The maps are amazing

### 3/5 — Family

*2026-07-17, version 1.0.7*

While i like the app and it seems to be reasonably correct! I strongly dislike that apple family sharing does mot work and my wife must buy it just like i did! Apple says - : built-in sharing systems that let family members download purchased apps for free, and collaborative apps designed for family households.

### 4/5 — Now in Europe!

*2026-07-13, version 1.0.7*

Been waiting for this dark sky was a brilliant app and this is more of what made it so great.

That said not really overly
Enamoured with having to drop a years sub on a weather app before I can get a real feel for how accurate it is. Would appreciate a monthly option

### 3/5 — Welcome back, you’ve been missed

*2026-07-03, version 1.0.7*

Dark Sky was fantastic then Apple bought it and well did what big companies do.

Acme Weather easy and so far accurate. Community reports will be amazing once more user find and use Acme, it’s like Waze reports but for weather.

But, visually it looks dated and the strange beige accent colour reminds of a 1950’s American home and Claude AI, it’s not a nice choice.

Then it’s the subscription price. £25 a year when your competitor Carrot is £29.49 a year and providers significantly more. Maybe once Acme has established itself and has more features they can justify the price, but I can’t yet.

Most importantly it’s made by the same people that made the original Dark Sky app, so we know we’re in good hands.

What I’d like to see:
- Better value for subscription price or a subscription price that matches the apps features
- Little bit of customisation would be nice. I dislike the accent colour used in dark mode
- More modern feel to UI
- Decide what is shown on the Home Screen map. It’s fixed to temperature which I find useless. Cloud and rain radar would be more useful.
- Better lock screen widgets
- Lighting for Europe. If Carrot can do it, Acme must be able to
- and of course the return of the vertical weather view that made Dark Sky so visually amazing to use.

### 5/5 — Finally a weather app that works!!!

*2026-06-27, version 1.0.6*

Finally an app I can rely on again. Hasn’t been one this good since Dark Sky.

### 5/5 — Like old Dark Sky, but better

*2026-06-23, version 1.0.6*

I’m on the water five days a week and this is the only app that provides accurate data without looking like MS-DOS

### 5/5 — Darksky Reborn. Back and more powerful

*2026-06-23, version 1.0.6*

To say this is just Darksky reborn would be a bit of a miss. The spirit of the team who brought the world the best weather app to grace humanity has done it again in a whole new flavor that serves the same purpose, inform you of the weather as accurately as possible.

Two stand out features:
I love setting up a custom wind/rain alert for my town to know when the flag should be taken in.
Also, the alternate predictions for the day has saved my behind more times that I can count.

15/10 for this no nonsense weather app.

### 5/5 — Great forecasts, and visualizations

*2026-06-08, version 1.0.6*

Great forecasts, and visualizations. Been missing this since DarkSky’s run ended.

### 5/5 — This is the standard

*2026-06-06, version 1.0.6*

I’m lovin’ it. Sorry about all them haters.

### 5/5 — Lots of info

*2026-06-03, version 1.0.6*

This has a great overview with tons of information at my fingertips. It is hyper local and has helped me avoid bad storms in time when the others had a vague blob on the radar.

### 3/5 — Not Dark Sky

*2026-06-01, version 1.0.6*

I bought a subscription for this because I loved Dark Sky before it was bought and buried (I believe by Apple). I dunno if it’s the federal cuts to funding for weather predictions in the US. But I’m writing this standing in a rain that Acme says isn’t happening. This is quite frequent. I don’t see it any more accurate than the many free options out there. I want Dark Sky back!!

### 4/5 — Ok but needs work

*2026-05-30, version 1.0.6*

Great app but needs better widgets and the watch complications are weak. Needs a “conditions”.

### 2/5 — Interface

*2026-05-29, version 1.0.6*

It’s a lot of work to quickly find details for the day. The graphs are nice, but you have to change what you’re looking at for each detail and scroll to the time to get details when there are times I just want to see a quick table of all the details for the day by hour

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bug in precipitation report

*2026-07-19, version 1.0.7*

Every morning I open up the app. Every morning it says it’s going to rain for the next hour. Same report, even if there’s not a cloud in the sky.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2026-07-16, version 1.0.7*

Someone commented “Dark Sky is back”. I strongly disagree with this statement. Accuracy of this weather app is extremely low, notifications for weather alerts are turned on but never actually come through and there have been no improvements during my time of use. Unless the app dev team truly dives into fixing the issues, I’ll call it a waste of time and money and discontinue my subscription.

### 1/5 — Block behind paywall

*2026-07-15, version 1.0.7*

No

### 1/5 — Where is Cambridge?

*2026-06-28, version 1.0.6*

The app keeps switching to showing the weather in someplace called Cambridge (which one? England, Massachusetts, ?). I want it to show the weather where I am. I already set my location as a favorite but that seems to have no effect.

### 1/5 — Priced itself out of the market

*2026-05-15, version 1.0.6*

I like the way they break up the day into segments it seems more relevant to how I look at my day and the impact of weather to it. Their color scheme isn’t the best, the burnt orange in dark mode was a bit much and the weather graphics were mid. Unlike some reviewers I actually like their logo. The latest version it looks like they tried to address the issue with no family sharing but what a disaster. Simply doubled the price for a yearly subscription. $25 a year was already overpriced considering what I can get from Apple’s stock app for free. $50 for family just seems like robbery. I was an original DarkSky subscriber but it’s going to be a hard pass on this one at the current pricing model. There is a reason it is consistently ranked in the 100 range in the weather category. A far cry from Dark Sky of old.

### 1/5 — Solid but pricey

*2026-04-29, version 1.0.5*

### 1/5 — Trial is Two Weeks. Can Cancel Day 13.

*2026-04-05, version 1.0.4*

Seems a weak effort, do we need another weather app? I don’t. Weather is not accurate more than 2-3 days out anyways. Go with Environment Canada. Nothing unique here. Cancel day 13 for no charge if it’s not for you. I’m in Canada.

### 1/5 — Not user friendly

*2026-04-05, version 1.0.4*

Not impressed at all. Awkward to navigate. Expected more are reading press releases but disappointed overall. Signed up for annual subscription but will not be renewing.

### 1/5 — Radar and forecast

*2026-03-18, version 1.0.3*

Doesn’t have a live or future radar. Useless during storms. Was a huge fan of dark sky, but they have ways to go. Don’t get until they make it weather worthy.

### 1/5 — It’s not accurate

*2026-03-17, version 1.0.3*

Don’t mind paying for an accurate weather app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Dark Sky is back!

*2026-08-13, version 1.0.7*

A very well-rounded, clean and informative weather app.

Brings back the aesthetic and feel of Dark Sky (we all miss you!). A very welcome new weather app.

Kudos to the devs.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-08-03, version 1.0.7*

Acme Weather is a great app. Perfectly location-specific and providing a plethora of great information. Definitely an app I’m happy to pay for.

I was very sorry to see Dark Sky go. Its team has developed a VERY worthy successor.

### 5/5 — Dark Sky is back! Thank goodness

*2026-07-30, version 1.0.7*

Making a weather app that really is useful, day in and out. Welcome back!!!

### 5/5 — Seems Accurate

*2026-07-23, version 1.0.7*

I’ve been using Acme Weather for a few days now and it seems to be spot on as far as predicting precipitation, temperature, etc. It seems to use the NWS API for weather data. It remains to be seen if the $25 subscription price is warranted considering Apple Weather is free.

### 5/5 — Favorite Weather App & I Have Tried Many

*2026-07-21, version 1.0.7*

I truly appreciate this weather app. Quickly supplanted my other weather related apps. Just this past week, the AQI maps were very helpful when deciding to take our pup for a walk. I also like that by default, Acme Weather will show other models to give you a good idea about what other models are thinking along with their own efforts. A very transparent mindset. Loved Dark Sky and love this service even more by the same team. BTW, I have used it on macOS Tahoe and earlier macOSes and have never had a problem with it. Your experience may vary but it has been great for me.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2026-07-18, version 1.0.7*

You won’t be disappointed. Best weather app I have ever used.

### 5/5 — Excellence

*2026-07-17, version 1.0.7*

This is the freshest weather app in so long from some incredible developers; it’s already great and I can’t wait to see where it goes. This is my main weather app—speaking as a weather and app nerd who has spent too much on apps. This and Carrot for alerts are all you need. This app has the info you need easily visible instead of buried like Carrot. It incorporates uncertainty which is SUCH a fresh idea; every other app either pretends it knows everything or gives SO much data that you need to be a meteorologist to read it. Just get it already!

### 5/5 — They’re back - and now in the UK/Europe too

*2026-07-13, version 1.0.7*

I’ve missed Dark Sky for a long time, and now it’s reincarnated as Acme Weather.

Feels instantly familiar and based on the team’s past performance, this is a new app to trust.

Love the alternative forecast lines that help show how close the apps own forecast is to the data sources the algorithm uses is genius.

Lots of weather data available if you want to view it too.

Big thanks.

### 5/5 — Thank goodness

*2026-07-11, version 1.0.7*

Since Dark Sky, I have not been able to find an accurate weather app. Very happy

### 5/5 — Beautiful, fast, well thought out

*2026-07-01, version 1.0.7*

Nicest weather app I’ve used since dark sky went away (same devs). Easy to read at a glance, fast to load and loads of detail if you want to drill down further. My only request would be the option to have a white background option for the widget as the tint messes with my homescreen setup!
