### 3/5 — It is just ok

*2025-01-09*

I got it not knowing what to expect but I believe it useful in case you forget you library card plus you can renew from your app that’s nice. but the other options on the app I don’t find useful

### 4/5 — So helpful!

*2024-06-24*

I love that I can renew things at home, search through the catalog and make hold requests, and see what’s due soon. This is great to manage my card and my kids’ cards all at once.

I love that we can search our current check outs.
I would love to be able to search by series or author though. Sometimes I don’t know the title.
Also, a way to search recent check outs would be amazing, but I don’t know if it’s possible.

Thanks for such a great library system and making it easily accessible at home.

### 2/5 — It Needs To Be Face ID Capable Or Keep Me Logged In

*2024-05-14*

In this day and age of 2024, the app needs to either keep us signed in or be Face ID enabled. It’s not always easy access to my library card in order to sign in.

### 3/5 — Glitching when trying to review my saved lists

*2023-08-21*

I’ve had a few bugs with this app but normally signing out and signing back in fixes them. However, I have found a bug that isn’t able to be fixed by signing back in. Every time I want to view my saved lists (which is a lot of lists of books I want to read) I can’t scroll all the way to the bottom. Every time I try it will kick me out of the app after a certain amount of books. I have probably over 50 saved lists and I cant see past the first 10. Please please fix this!!

### 2/5 — App fail!!

*2023-01-07, version 4.36*

January 5,2023
App doesn’t provide working access to “hold feature” or “library map” (There be more lost features?)
ACPL App is currently unusable!!!!
I did call library -to discover numerous features inoperable within all libraries 😢

FYI hope returns to excellent tool for patrons soon

### 4/5 — Solid

*2021-10-05, version 4.30*

Sometimes the app is glitchy but it’s mostly pretty solid. I use it a lot to renew books and check for new releases to borrow.

### 2/5 — My reading list has disappeared!

*2021-04-30*

I have (had) a list of over 90 books that I wanted to read, and when I went to check it today...it was gone, disappeared, vanished! Apparently, one of the last updated did a number on this feature, as I can’t even create a new list to add books to. I am sick over this! I will never be able to recall all of the books on that list. So frustrating!

**Developer response:** The update to the app was necessary because the library moved to a new system. We had some issues over the first week, but everything is working correctly at this time. If you're still having trouble after updating to the latest version, please reach out to us at developer@acpl.lib.in.us.

### 1/5 — Awful app!

*2020-06-14, version 4.20*

This would be a great platform if the library could get their terrible new website to agree with the app. The search function is barely useful since it won’t bring up anything remotely similar to what I’m searching for. My ACPL library username and password will either work on the app and not on the website or vise versa. Can’t recall how many times I’ve changed passwords. And now it won’t even load properly so I can see my holds/checkouts or renew online, causing me to gain late fees. And yes, I did email the developer as they mentioned in other reviews. Maybe they’ll actually fix the problems with this app/website.

### 4/5 — Pop up window fix needed

*2020-03-02*

I use this app and the digital libraries, like hoopla and overdrive, more than I interface with the brick and mortar. I truly appreciate the access you all have given us. I feel I have endless resources.

The only issue I run into is when a pop up appears that asks for me to choose between multiple answers. The text color and the background of the color are both the same shade of grey lol I’m literally selecting options in the blind. Please fix for a higher rating, and thanks for providing quality resources to the our community!

### 1/5 — Can’t even log in

*2020-01-29, version 4.11*

The entire ACPL system has been 100% useless since the recent change. This app is no exception. I can’t even log in, and I verified my login information.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2020-01-15, version 4.11*

I loved this app until they updated the system. What happened to overdrive? No more ebooks or audiobooks? Information on remaining renewals? And do all of my kids really now have to have their own username just for me to add their cards to my app?

### 2/5 — Renewals Remaining

*2020-01-14, version 4.11*

Please bring back the functionality that showed how many renewals remain for a checkout. Myself and other parents relied on that information to get our kids to finish up their reading and find their books before a checkout was not renewable. Please bring this back.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2020-01-07, version 4.11*

Before they changed their system this app used to work.

### 2/5 — No Holds Allowed

*2019-12-23, version 4.11*

I can create an account, but the app won’t let me place holds for some reason

### 1/5 — Terrible “upgrade”

*2019-12-11, version 4.09*

Took about an hour of frustration before I figured out just how to set up my user name and password. The process defies all human logic.

### 3/5 — Frustrated

*2019-12-07, version 4.09*

I’ve reset my password a half dozen times but I can’t place holds, can’t log in reliably, and have no idea when my books are due. I’m trying to be patient but I’m frustrated. Fortunately I can still look up items and see events, so it does have some functionality.

### 1/5 — This is an improvement!

*2019-12-03*

This is the most worthless App that I have ever seen! I attempted to renew books that I had checked out. It showed that the books were successfully renewed. I refuse to pay late fees that have resulted from the use of this worthless and ineffective technology. It now is not letting me review my account details, such as check outs or holds.

I loved the old App. It was easy to use and sent me updated notifications on due dates and holds that were available for pick up. What does this App do besides take up memory on my devices that could be better utilized by a functioning App? If it isn’t broke don’t fix it! Improvement my *ss! Worthless!!!!!

**Developer response:** Please contact us at developer@acpl.lib.in.us if you're having trouble using the app. We will be happy to assist you.

### 1/5 — Never responds

*2019-12-02, version 4.08*

How to use if it doesn't respond? I did all the troubleshooting. Emailed the developer with no response. Hate it when they "upgrade" system.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — The only app that does not offer push notifications

*2025-05-12*

I find it so bizzare that you refuse to offer push notifications. It is literal insanity. I will never understand it. Every other app offers it. I don't think it is even remotely a big ask. Theres no legitimate excuse.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2025-03-03*

When I try to log in, the page goes blank. I haven’t been able to use this app since it launched. 😡

### 1/5 — Bad

*2024-05-17*

Bad

### 1/5 — Awful

*2023-12-06*

This app frustrates me regularly. Adding books to lists often backfires. The book covers are so blurry. Too many books have “no preview available,” so of course those don’t show up on my lists…Which leaves a blank spot on my list, which I can’t choose even if I know what is supposed to be there. It looks so much uglier than our last app, and works so much more poorly. Sometimes it brings me to tears out of frustration.

### 1/5 — Frustrated with list feature!

*2023-08-31, version 4.36*

I’ve ignored PROBLEM Please please FIX THIS!!

This app has a wonderful list feature, but it’s totally unusable. Every time I try to access any of my LISTs….. I’m thrown out of the app!!!!!!

This glitch needs your immediate attention or please remove feature.

I appreciate your help, thank you.

### 1/5 — Hold issues

*2023-01-10, version 4.36*

The app does is not working and will not allow holds to be placed.

### 1/5 — Unusable a Fail update 1/2023

*2023-01-06, version 4.36*

This application no longer works,
cannot putting any books on hold ??

### 1/5 — Needs Fixed

*2020-12-31, version 4.24*

At first I used it all the time and it was great. Then it got updated and now it won’t even let me sign in. I would give it five stars if someone could just help me actually use the app!

### 1/5 — Please fix

*2020-07-27, version 4.22*

Please fix this app! I miss the functionality of it!!

### 1/5 — Needs Fixed!

*2020-07-22, version 4.22*

This app used to be amazing and very useful before they made adjustments to it. Now, the app does not allow me to place holds. Terrible app now and very frustrating! I hope that they make it usable again

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works well

*2025-12-16*

Works perfectly well in my experience! I appreciate that it lets you access your barcode through the app, so I have a way to check out books even when I forget my library card.

### 5/5 — Update

*2020-08-19*

Edit: I uninstalled my original 4.22 version and reinstalled it and regained former functionality. I’m able to check on my materials, renew, and place holds again. This makes me so happy. Changing my review.

With older versions of this app I could place holds and renew materials. This version won’t even pull up the what materials I have checked out or allow me to place a hold or renew. It either needs to be rolled back to a previous version or rewritten completely. I used to love this app.

### 5/5 — Best app ever

*2019-07-20, version 3.42*

Dis is da only app I am aloud to have lov its

### 5/5 — Good app but an AMAZING Library

*2016-05-06, version 2.15*

This review is more about the Allen county public library it's services than the app, with that said the app is very well made and does make it much easier to manage my acct. and browse the catalog. I am 28yrs old & fortunate enough to have a career that provides the means to support my upper middle class life and in todays world that includes having every new device or piece of tech on the mkt. so of course i have every content subscription available right? Prime(just got AMZN fire tho), NFLX, Audible, kindle unlimited, smh & even hulu. I dnt mention any of this to brag (wooo wooo upper middle poppin' bottles.....of stella), but to make a point by illustrating that even in our digital content filled world that even someone like me with all the content i could ever want a few finger taps away, the membership that i most use by far is still my good ol' trusty Lib. card!! I can say with complete confidence the reason why is because how insanely awesome the ACPL is, and we are soooo lucky as a city to have such a valuable resource available to us. The motivation behind this ridiculous review was A conversation that coworkers of mine were having about how unnecessary libraries are today because the only ppl who have any use for them are the homeless and teens without Wi-Fi access at home so they use the library to update their FB status and check their TWTR feeds. I am living proof that The library is far from obsolete, if anything it is more relevant today as a vital resource that is needed more than ever in a time when our schools education model is broken and totally ineffective in preparing students for the rapidly changing future economic landscape where a prerequisite to be part of the workforce will include a solid understanding of IT & software. That makes an organization like the ACPL key in a time when schools are leaving students so ill-equipped for the future and also adults who are watching as their careers are being eaten by rapid technologic advances that make their jobs obsolete, so to survive they must adapt themselves and to do that you must learn a new skill by acquiring new knowledge and to be successful at evolving with the times you have got to be a self educator. That makes libraries especially ones like we are so lucky to have the life blood of the city's educational ecosystem. I work at a buyside financial firm that relies on receiving the fastest and most accurate information available. For that privilege our firm pays incredible amounts of money so that teams just like mine around the globe access the same platforms that provide us with the "best" data research & analysis. For instance I sit in front of a Bloomberg terminal all day(a bank of "computer screens" usually between4-8 screens & a special keyboard for traders and investment professionals) they sign lease's for the terminals and contracts for the Bloomberg professional software. For my bloomberg terminal (a bank of 4 separate screen's) that i basically live my life infront of costs my firm over $23,000 annually, yes just for mine, and there is an army of ppl who have those terminals within the firm I work for and for each one they pay over 23 grand a year all for access to information and analysis tools. And the funny thing is that I do most of my research using the library and it services for free😂😂🤑🤑🤑 basically ACPL YOU ROCK

### 5/5 — It's back!

*2015-03-18, version 2.11*

I can access my account again! Back to being a great app.

### 5/5 — Thanks for the update!

*2015-03-17, version 2.11*

I can open my account now and it's great! Thanks for this great app!

### 5/5 — Update fail

*2015-03-10, version 2.10*

After update can no longer access account.

### 5/5 — Oops

*2015-03-09, version 2.10*

Since update cannot access Account information.

### 5/5 — Seriously, it's perfect.

*2013-07-26*

The ACPL app is streamlined, so it's easy to navigate and fast. I can check when items are due and renew them within seconds. I can search the catalog and place holds almost as quickly. I can set the app to send push notifications to my phone, letting me know when an item is due soon or ready for me to pick up. It also has library hours and events schedules, which are easy to view by branch.

### 5/5 — Nice. : )

*2013-07-22, version 1.25*

Nice design and easy to use. I was able to renew my materials quickly and easily.
