## What is AcreScope?

Locust swarms travel 130 km per day. By the time you see them, it’s too late.

AcreScope tells you where locust swarms have been spotted, and where they could be going next.

What you can do:
Early warnings near you: Get notified when a swarm is reported within range of your fields.

Forecast: Our risk model combines swarm sightings with environmental data on rainfall, soil moisture, vegetation, and temperature.

See why: Explore your risk score with detailed graphs of what factors are driving it.

Your region: Browse recent sightings reported by other farmers and field workers near you.

Your community: Contribute to the early-warning network. When you see a swarm, add your own sighting.

Built for the field: AcreScope works in multiple languages: English, Swahili, Arabic, and French
Personal Risk Score: See a location-aware risk on the Home screen. Tap “Why this risk?” for a clear breakdown (distance, swarm type, seasonality, etc.).

Why farmers use it:
A swarm can destroy large portions of cropland in a matter of hours. Knowing where locusts are can help you stay in the know.

Data & transparency:

This app has been accomplished thanks to the valuable data provided through the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)’s Locust-hub (https://locust-hub-hqfao.hub.arcgis.com/). The data is the appreciated results of field surveys and control operations on desert locust conducted by the FAO member countries. We wish to express our gratitude to FAO, its three Desert Locust Regional Commissions (CLCPRO, CRC and SWAC) and the member countries for the shared data.

AcreScope displays public locust observation feeds (e.g., FAO RAMSES) alongside user-submitted Community Sightings. We are not affiliated with FAO. Data availability varies by region and season.

UGC & safety:
Community submissions use structured fields (no free-text) and are pre-moderated. Sightings can be reported in-app, and abusive uploaders can be restricted.

Privacy & permissions
Location permission is optional and used only to show observations and risk near you.
