## What is Acropolis?

Walk the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora with a guide in your pocket that works with no signal.

Tessera is an audio guide to these sites: 65 short stories, told out loud, each under two minutes — from the Theatre of Dionysus and the Parthenon to the Areopagus, the Temple of Hephaestus and the Kerameikos. Download it once at home, and the map, the photos and every story work offline.

• A plan of the site with your position on it — your location stays on your phone
• 65 narrated stories, each with a photo and the full text
• Four routes: Acropolis & Agora Highlights (12 stops, about 1 h 48), The Sacred Rock (14), Heart of Democracy (12) and The Complete Tour (65). The guide turns each route around to start at the gate you came in by
• Nothing plays by itself: the guide offers a story when you arrive, and you decide
• Search by name, number or topic
• Eight languages: English, Русский, Español, Deutsch, Italiano, Français, Português, 中文

Try it free: the introduction and four more stops — the Parthenon, the Areopagus, the Ancient Agora and the Kerameikos — are free forever. One purchase unlocks the other 60 stories in all eight languages, the routes and guided walking to any stop. No subscription, no account, no ads.

Tessera is an independent app and is not affiliated with the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, the Acropolis Museum or the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Photographs: Wikimedia Commons, with author and licence under each photo.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-05

• A new walkthrough on first launch: it shows the app in action instead of handing out tips.
• Walking guidance: a turn banner, arrival time, buttons to open your navigator, and a note when you arrive.
• Routes from afar: you see the walking line to the start, then choose to listen from here or start on site. The route takes over when you arrive.
• Routes now run from 1 to the end: from the gate you entered, then from where you stand, without doubling back. The counter no longer jumps ahead ("6 of 12" at the start).
• Bottom panels, the mini-player included, swipe away to the left.
• Location access now lives in Settings, with a prompt before a route. Tapping Guide me mid-route asks whether to finish the current one.
• The player opens as a sheet you can swipe away, with the map kept beneath it.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-23
