Fix up your description, it's misleading and add better information about its limitations. Buyer beware, research it first. ### 2/5 — not what I expected *2011-06-02* I bought this product thinking I could sync albums from my computer to my phone. But once I worked it out, it worked fine. ### 3/5 — Nice idea — flawed execution *2011-04-08, version 1.0* The idea behind this app is great. Provide an easy way to sync files from your computer to the device without going through iTunes, and leverage rsync to do it efficiently. Unfortunately it suffers in reality. * First, it requires initiating the connection from the device. I was under the impression that I could connect from the computer to the device but this was not the case. * Second, you cannot sync individual files, only complete folders. * Third, it fails rather badly at syncing a single large (550MB) file, repeatedly stalling out with no errors and requiring a relaunch of the app to close the stalled connection. * And fourth, it behaves rather badly when attempting to display Bonjour services, to the extent that this functionality is unusable on any network with a sizable number of ssh services advertised. If you're on a small network and you want to transfer a folder of small files, this app may be fine for you. But it simply won't do what I bought it for, which was to transfer a very small number of large files. Caveat emptor. Edit: After discussion with the developer, I've raised my rating to 3 stars to reflect appreciation for a reasonably prompt response. I hope to be able to raise the rating again after the next update is released! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work *2025-12-02, version 3.1* More than 10 years old and just doesn’t work. Shouldn’t even be on the App Store. Total ripoff. ### 1/5 — Broken App *2024-03-26, version 3.1* Does not work on Linux for ssh or rsync. Robbing people blind! This app should be banned! ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work anymore *2024-01-05, version 3.1* The app hasn’t been updated in years, and is not compatible with newer SSH servers, because it relies on insecure encryption settings. Even if you figure out how to enable the insecure encryption on the server (which is a security hole), the app has other random errors that are impossible to debug. Also, since it hasn’t been updated, it’s not compatible with multitasking. You have to keep it in the foreground to transfer anything (when it even works). This app shouldn’t be for sale. ### 1/5 — Didn’t work on my iPhone 8 *2020-02-13, version 3.1* This app wouldn’t connect to rsync.net on my iPhone 8. I contacted tech support, but their answer was essentially “it works here.” Well, my rsync account works with Linux rsync on my office computer and a Rackspace server. Acrosync doesn’t use the Linux rsync though: they wrote their own. Maybe that’s a good place to look for a problem. Uninstalled. ### 1/5 — Gave up. Avoid *2017-09-13, version 3.1* Couldn't get this product to work at all. The UI on an iPad is really really horrible. Looks like it's stuck in the pre-retina days, horrible fuzzy red and ugly huge fonts. Also keeps forgetting passwords. But since it didn't even work at all, just kept producing huge delays followed by the same meaningless error messages, it hardly matters. Must try a lot harder. And some actual real-world testing would be a start. ### 1/5 — Worst *2016-12-06, version 3.1* Too expensive for limited and frustrating features, can't sort by date, can't sync the whole photo album I have to select the photos one by one, what if I have hundreds of photos?! And I have to add files from other apps to its "private" folder to sync?? Cmon! Sorry dev but this really irritated me this late at night, this app should be no more than 50cents! ### 1/5 — Very poor documentation or help *2014-12-17, version 3.0* Downloaded this app to try Rsync on my iPad to my QNAP nas which this product claims to work with. After several attempts it failed to connect. Thinking I had done all I could on my own I tried to look for support either through online documentation or a forum on setting this app but "the cupboard was bare". There is an old sketchy setting up a beta version for windows but that's it. Sorry chaps you must do better... ### 1/5 — Advertised Feature is a known bug *2014-04-23, version 2.0* 4enzy April 22 Edit I am able to authenticate and select a folder using port 88. When I click the Sync button, this error displays over AT&T or other Wi-Fi networks which allow this exact connection (rsync to the same server/port): Sync Error Failed to connect to 'SERVER.FQDN:22: connection timeout For some reason, the error indicates Acrosync is attempting and failing to connect to port 22, despite the Advanced Options being "On" and set to port 88. This app would be great if it would sync to port 88, but I will not be able to use it otherwise. gchen April 22 This is obviously a bug. Will be fixed in the next update. ### 1/5 — Doesn't resume transfers *2011-05-10, version 1.1* I only need this app to rsync+ssh to my server in America on a reliable link 100meg files from china over their woeful network. I thought this app would be able to store partial files like the "--partial" switch on the original rsync application, but it does not. I only need that feature. I don't need delta updates to files, just to be able to transfer the file and resume the transfer when the link goes out. Only issue is you have to manually download or upload but that's no big deal for what I'm using it for since most changes are made on the server. Rsynch without tears (or man. pages) A simple to use, logical implementation of the Unix utility Rsync that lets you setup your own virtual cloud (well yes all Clouds are virtual). Works nicely to to uni or bidirectional synchronization of file or directional either unencrypted or with ssh tunneled encryption. Has all the bells. and whistles in a simple functional interface ### 4/5 — so far, so good... *2014-10-17, version 2.3* So far, the paid app is working well, like the older, free app. ### 4/5 — Great with Linux *2013-12-09, version 2.0* This uses SSH and therefore works great for transfering files (pictures, videos, PDFs, websites) from a Linux PC to your iPad. Just install an SSH server on your PC and you can connect and sync any folder directly from your iPad.
