### 3/5 — Please update the app

*2022-02-02, version 2.0.3*

I have used this app almost every day and like it for the most part however unstable updates have always been issue

### 1/5 — Horrible update!!! Ruined a great app!!!!

*2017-11-01, version 2.0*

This used to be the best app and the best way to stay up to date with new Chemistry. After the latest update, nothing loads properly, the abstracts don’t look as nice, and I can’t zoom in on full articles?!?!!? This is terrible!!! I want the old app back. Please fix all these bugs!

### 1/5 — A rushed update

*2017-09-27, version 2.0*

It seems the bare minimum was done to update the app for 64 bit compatibility. The interface is significantly less professional and the ability to use personal credentials rather than institutional ones to download papers is MIA.

### 3/5 — New update needs some tweaks

*2017-09-23, version 2.0*

Overall it looks like someone did the bear minimum to update to the new UI; doesn't look all that clean or professional. ASAPs weren't saved, but since they gave that notice ahead of time it's understandable. Biggest complaint is that you can't zoom in when reading the PDF - how else am I supposed to read the article on my phone?

### 1/5 — Terrible update

*2017-09-17, version 2.0*

After the update all saved ASAPs are gone and, I suspect, are irrecoverable. New version has no option of sharing saved ASAPs in bulk, only one by one. Why did you do this to us???!!!

### 1/5 — Needs to be updated to 64 bit

*2017-03-30, version 1.6*

Will stop working with next iOS update.

### 1/5 — Keyboard problem still not fixed

*2016-06-08, version 1.6*

Someone already mentioned this 3 years ago (have you guys given up on the app?). The Search option doesn't open up the keyboard.

### 2/5 — No keyboard? How do I search then?

*2013-05-16, version 1.6*

See title.

### 2/5 — Update for iPhone 5

*2013-03-28, version 1.5.1*

When are you going to upgrade the app to take advantage of the big screen on iPhone 5?

### 3/5 — Good when connected online. The bad is the app does not store or display abstract when my iPod is

*2012-11-27, version 1.5.1*

Offline

### 3/5 — Needs more work!

*2012-11-19, version 1.5.1*

Nice app! Keeps me updated with new literature. But the app needs more work. You can't save PDF's. Also it needs to be optimized for the new iPhone 5 screen.

### 2/5 — None of the share options work

*2012-09-18, version 1.5.1*

When I was trying to send a paper link to my twitter, it says unknown error, and the cancel button does not work. Then I tried to share by google reader, nothing sent out.

Also there is no way to export downloaded PDFs.

### 1/5 — It crashes

*2012-09-01, version 1.5.1*

Can't do anything in ipad ios 5.1.1. But works fine in ipod

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App started working

*2024-05-23*

Doesn’t work any longer and crashes out. Also you loose your saved and favorited articles.

### 1/5 — No articles

*2024-05-01*

App just tells me "no more articles", for all journals. Crashes when I try adjusting the settings.

### 1/5 — App has stopped working

*2024-04-20*

App has stopped working

### 1/5 — Stopped working

*2022-12-09, version 2.0.3*

The app stopped working on iOS 15. Please fix the bug

### 1/5 — App Crashes Upon Opening Every Time

*2022-11-05, version 2.0.3*

I cannot even use the app; it crashes every time I try to open it.

When I was able to use the app, it was not a user friendly experience.

### 1/5 — terrible

*2017-11-19, version 2.0.2*

I cannot accept a great and big scientific community like ACS can’t make a reliable app!

### 1/5 — Update ruined it

*2017-11-13, version 2.0.1*

This was a good app. I used it almost everyday. It was updated a few months ago and is now unusable. It is slow and the text is too small and the pictures load too fuzzy to make any sense. I hope they just go back to the old version

### 1/5 — One star for a big bug

*2017-11-07, version 2.0.1*

Why it clear all my ASAPs after updates. It’s getting worse and worse. Not about content but the app itself. :( :(

### 1/5 — please fix it

*2017-11-04, version 2.0*

used to love it. doesn’t work now. asaps no longer load.

### 1/5 — Bad experience

*2017-11-02, version 2.0*

Really bad than the old version，cannot loading the image and abstract！！！

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Thanks for fixing the bug!

*2017-12-13, version 2.0.2*

App is so helpful!

### 5/5 — Keyboard Issue Solved

*2017-03-16, version 1.6*

Really a nice and useful app. For anyone having issues with the keyboard for searching, try double-tapping the search form. That made a keyboard show up for me.

### 5/5 — Info on the go

*2013-08-24, version 1.6*

I love this app because it keeps me updated on the new researches that are being done anytime!

### 5/5 — Outstanding App

*2010-03-26, version 0*

As a military officer I want to remain current on all news, including the latest in science. This app has become essential to my daily commute. It allows me to scan through the latest news and articles with a very clean, user friendly interface. I wish that more app developers took this clean approach to app design - its an absolutely superb product. ACS has hit a home run - again.
One complaint though - I'm not sure why ACS is charging for this app? I see it as a tool for ACS to deliver paid content. That content is worth far more than this $2.99 app. It allows me to "see" an article that I may end up buying later for $30 that I wouldn't even see if I were not using this app. I'm guessing that there are potential users who won't pay for the app just on principal since they already pay to access ACS content.

### 5/5 — Great! The Latest Research Reports

*2010-03-16, version 0*

This App is well done. As advertised, it brings the latest research reports (ASAP articles) from the ACS journals to the palm of your hand, as abstracts, with the option of retrieving the full text as well (if you have a subscription or by purchasing an individual document.) It is not a means to read the reports that have already been published. The ACS did a good job of making this easy to use, and behaving as expected: graphics are provided in an appropriate resolution for viewing on the iPhone, the normal ways of expanding and rotating the article work as expected, and (at least so far) the article intros and abstracts load quickly.

### 4/5 — Update WAS horrible, works now!

*2017-12-07, version 2.0.2*

12/7/17 - Newest update works! I don’t see anything better than what it was before the new interface, but at least it’s back to a very useful app.
11/14/17-Latest fix to the update is still awful! Yes, emailed abstracts are back to a useful format, but very often no abstracts even load. Blank page for ASAP’s. Zero stars until this gets fixed. What was the point of this update?

Problems with this update are non-trivial: images associated with abstracts load slowly or not at all, and when an abstract is shared by email, the awkward, long URL to the mobile acs site is the title and text of the message, rather than the much friendlier format of the email from the previous version.

If this isn’t fixed, the chemistry community has lost a valuable tool for quickly viewing abstracts on a mobile device. I used the old version nearly every day, and sent myself useful articles 2-3 times per week. I won’t be doing that with the current version of this app.

Would rate it zero stars if possible

### 4/5 — Quick fix

*2017-09-21, version 2.0*

Great app. Very efficient to keep up with articles. One complaint is that during update you changed the format when sharing. It used to have a link and the title. Really want that back when I share by email so I can search the emails later.

### 4/5 — Great app!

*2013-06-01, version 1.6*

I love this app it's great and extremely helpful staying up to date on recent publications. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the most recent version has no keyboard when you go to search. I believe this is just a quirk with this version but it still is a very poor feature of the app now.

### 4/5 — Decent app, would recommend

*2013-03-16, version 1.5.1*

This is a pretty cool little app, it's nice to have all these articles at your finger tips. Very easy to use. Very clean cut app. The only complaint that I have is that it is not working with the iPhone 5 large screen. But besides that, it's a solid app. I highly recommend it anyone that is a hard core chemistry nerd.

### 4/5 — Awesome but bulky for small screen

*2012-07-01, version 1.5.1*

I really love this App, even more then receiving the emails. I can browse through titles just as soon as they come out and I don't need to be in front of my computer to do it. I can review them anywhere at anytime! My only complaint (reason for 4 stars) is that the icon buttons (ACS Apps, C&EN, My ASAPs etc) get in the way. The buttons allow less room to read the article title/abstract, sometimes I click on the buttons by mistake b/c they are in the way. As a result of this, sometimes part of the title is cut off and cannot be read unless you click to open the abstract (the title gets cut off whether the iPod device is held vertically or horizontally). I would suggest that the icons be apart of a drop down screen, like a projector screen that can be pulled down when needed. Aside from this, I love this app and use it more than any other app I have at the moment.
