### 4/5 — Great app but , there are a big problem

*2024-11-05, version 3.0.3*

I really liked this app and felt like it was perfect but i run across some serious problems, I am using it to play my favorite game on my pc as a keyboard but

1 - I realized that all of the keyboard letters are not working except some numbers and other symbols.

For me it’s was not a good sign but I managed to change the control input on the game to numbers and symbols so I can press them but

2 - I found that the buttons had a pressing limitations , for example (input button) you can press them and the input is immediately sent to the game but you can’t press the button fast and repeatedly ,( it’s not designed for a very fast based games ) and (Action buttons) you can surprisingly press them fast but the input will only go after you release the button which is also not a good option for me. So I couldn’t really enjoy my experience.

My recommendation for solving the problem are:
First of all, Fix the letters input, and for the second problem , they can put a toggle button on the action button sitting menu ( Tap to Act ) not after releasing the button or fix the repetitive duration limit for input button after each tap to make it fast .

I really hope the developers fixes this issue ASAP.

### 3/5 — If This Would send MIDI Messages Too, A Huge Market Would Be Captured

*2023-12-17, version 3.0.1*

Very promising! I’ve lowered my score a bit, because the version loses connection when ActionPad is arranged in the background. Have to reconnect every time I move it back to the foreground. Makes it very tedious to use, as I need to move apps ‘fore and back’ quite a bit.
Also, if you create a layout with many pads, and then decide to increase or decrease the columns in the layout, the pads are not properly redistributed, and many pads can be instantly lost. There is also no duplicate, copy/paste function for pad settings, or ability to edit multiple pads. Strange oversight that I hop is added. If these issues are addressed, I will certainly revise my review )

Also, If This Would send MIDI Messages Too, A Huge Market Would Be Captured. It would be massive for use with DAW’s Pretty Please!

### 4/5 — Very handy app

*2023-12-08, version 3.0.0*

I use this in everything gaming, Sony camera control, photo editing, car road tuning…etc. Just a fantastic app! I would like some more advanced functionality though! Such as more button feedback options and perhaps ways to animate. Even simple things like a countdown timer would be awesome.

### 4/5 — Very Promising

*2023-11-30*

Embryonic, but already very useful. The last update was a good boost.
Very reasonably priced.
Keep it going!

### 4/5 — Stuff streamdecks

*2022-01-14, version 2.1.0*

For £1.79 this is great. In one hour I’ve created an app that I can control a whole host of my stream setup with. Brilliant especially when you consider how expensive the alternatives are - fully appreciate a deck can do more however, my stream is mostly voice controlled so this is an excellent accompaniment

### 2/5 — Major bugs

*2021-02-27, version 2.1.0*

I spent hours setting up a custom panel for an editing package. Multiple crashes during the creation. Once done the panel scaled and I lost part of it off the screen.

I will have to completely redo this again which is a major disappointment and a waste of time. At this point I am regretting the purchase.

### 2/5 — Good, Except Stability

*2020-10-19, version 2.1.0*

I would love this app, if I could ever get to using it. Trying to make any changes to my panels is the longest, most frustrating process I’ve ever had with an app. There are bugs that will randomly change the text in buttons that you’re not editing, icons disappear randomly, multiple buttons will randomly be created and won’t go away until you quit the app. There seems to be no function to undo, which means each time a bug happens (every 10 seconds), you have to quit the app and go back in to do anything. If you use a pre-made panel, then this app is awesome! If you are like me and want to customize your shortcuts, have fun...

### 3/5 — I was a Quadro app user...

*2020-10-12, version 2.1.0*

Thanks for this. From the bottom of my heart. Seriously. Don’t abandoned this development please. Keep going

### 4/5 — Great with an issue...

*2020-05-15, version 2.0.1*

This is really useful but I’m having an issue. Shift and CMD modifiers have no effect preceding a mouse click. So, for example, I can’t press and hold an on-screen shift button while selecting multiple items in a list with my mouse cursor and have it highlight them all the way I expected to.

### 5/5 — What I was looking for! Thanks!!

*2020-04-13, version 2.0.1*

His site was down I emailed him and it’s back up, downloading the server now. Very fast response!! I look forward to playing with this app as it will be very useful!!

### 4/5 — Suprised they updated after so long

*2020-03-27, version 2.0.1*

This app has a lot of potential, I personally use it as an alternative to Wacom ExpressKey remote for Photoshop. Keep us updated.

### 4/5 — My life just got better

*2020-02-27, version 2.0.1*

There are lots of reasons why you might want an external keypad with programmable controls for your Mac. In my case it is all about streamlining workflow. There are nice hardware options out there, but they don't come cheap.

Instead, for two bucks and a free OSX server download my iPad and iPhone are now more convenient and powerful external control units than a spiffy piece of hardware. Fortunately I ran across ActivePad before hitting send on the $250 purchase I almost made.

Why four stars instead of 5? Simple. Everything about this has to be customized, and as far as I can tell there is no documentation. If you don't have some computer savvy, or know someone who does, you might find the experience frustrating.

It took a lot of persistence on my part to figure out how to make it work with the application I most needed to control. I came close to throwing in the towel. I'm glad I didn't.

### 5/5 — Having the crashing problem? Here’s the fix.

*2019-12-07, version 1.0.4*

The only panel that crashes upon opening is the most recent panel. If you create another panel that panel won’t crash upon startup.

Doesn't work. Wasted $. And wasted my time.

### 1/5 — All function lost, nothing works.

*2020-09-03, version 2.1.0*

Money spent for nothing. 👎🏼

### 1/5 — Simply doesn’t work

*2020-04-28, version 2.0.1*

Useless

### 1/5 — Powerful but restricted

*2020-04-10, version 2.0.1*

The possibilities of the app are quite impressive, but there is one big big drawback: it‘s impossible to assign foreign characters for the Keyboard actions. That means, a good bunch of functions on the target system can‘t be configured.
The author/support didn‘t answer to question about it.

### 1/5 — Definitivamente una pérdida de tiempo

*2019-02-17, version 1.0.4*

No se instala la parte de Mac en Mojave 10.14.13

### 1/5 — Crashes when I open Panels

*2018-08-15, version 1.0.4*

Love the idea of this! Please fix.
It crashes upon opening a Windows panel (haven’t tried the Mac panels yet).

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Must Have for Win/Mac Power Users ❤️

*2025-02-04, version 3.0.3*

The app works as intended is incredibly easy to set up and is reliable. The set up is very straightforward so it’s easy for new customers and it has enough powerful tools set up within that it is still functional and attractive for power users as a video editor, I have it launching applications and going straight to folders via window shortcuts, but the ability to choose a file to run means if you have any capability in scripting this app can essentially do anything on your device. 6/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

### 5/5 — Essential to my workflow

*2025-01-01, version 3.0.3*

I use Action Pad with my recording DAWs, and I can’t imagine working without it. I have massive screens with dozens of buttons to work on my iPad Pro, or simplified versions to run on my iPhone. Excellent app!

### 5/5 — This app is awesome!

*2024-09-18, version 3.0.3*

I’m not sure why this app has 1 review. I tired all the other similar apps and this was by far the best. This does exactly what you need to it to do and more. It seems very well maintained and smooth to use. It’s got the best editor too of all the apps I tried.

### 5/5 — Esencial

*2020-10-29, version 2.1.0*

Una herramienta de productividad esencial en el universo mac, con algún dispositivo táctil (iPhone, iPad) y un ordenador (un iMac en mi caso). Totalmente universal, versátil y fácil de usar.

### 5/5 — Liked it a lot

*2020-10-26, version 2.1.0*

Excellent for flight simulator shortcuts. Clean and uncluttered.
An unusual and potentially useful feature is that you can control the position of the mouse cursor on the screen.
Excellent service from the developer when I had a problem in setting up an additional device running an older version of iOS.
Had a reply within an hour.

### 5/5 — One of the best

*2020-09-17, version 2.1.0*

If you want your favourite software shortcuts (key commands ) right in front of you in a nice tidy row on the iPad screen then download this app. It starts with you needing to set up and assign your most used tools to a key, for this you must look at your softwares list of key commands and arrange them in action pad. it works beautifully

### 5/5 — It was hard to setup but so cool when it worked

*2020-06-08, version 2.1.0*

Got this because I got tired of typing chat commands in games. Also I set it up to do dice rolls only in my specific discord channel for rpg games. The photoshop tools are also perfect. It was worth every penny for this graphic designer and nerd.

### 5/5 — Super Useful... and Evolving

*2020-06-06, version 2.1.0*

I’m really impressed with Action Pad, especially since it is an affordable, living, breathing product that continues to evolve and get better. (The addition of Jump Buttons in the latest version which allows you to easily link panels is a fantastic addition).

I use it primarily to send hot keys to my recording apps on my Mac, and the flexibility of Action Pad in creating buttons for different needs is really quite impressive. On the down side, the panel editor could really use undo and redo buttons, and the editor crashes fairly frequently. But since the app saves every action as you make them, you never lose anything beyond your most recent edit. When not in edit mode, Action Pad is very stable interacting with apps on my Mac.

All in all a great app, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.

### 5/5 — Great app, with great support

*2020-05-15, version 2.0.1*

I have used many launchpad and remote app for mac and by far it’s the most customizable app. I wish i can determine the size of buttons by percentage instead of fixed pixels to make it compatible for both my iPad and iPhone. But it’s my go to shortcut app for my adobe products and Anki.
Also the support team of app is amazing and i have got reply within hours.

### 5/5 — Great app with great support

*2020-04-27, version 2.0.1*

I wanted to write a somewhat complex macro for Final Cut Pro X. Initially, ActionPad Server (the Mac component) didn’t perform as expected. I dropped the developer an email. He was back to me in 15 minutes with fix already uploaded on his website. A download, a reinstall and a reboot after granting ActionPad Server access to Accessibility ... it all worked perfectly. Hey, bugs happen. But customer service like this is hard to beat! And for $1.99, it’s a steal!
