This app is not working nor practical. It is simply not fit for purpose.

Cannot view matter documents, comms, or billing details. Time recording button doesn’t work for certain billing rates.

Very long delay, greyed out screen for 15+ seconds, for each time recording. Makes app unusable for time recording. Actionstep aware of issue but seem unwilling to fix. Appears to be the same issue with the outlook plugin, which makes that unusable too.

We've been using Actionstep to manage clients for the last several years. Unfortunately I'm unsurprised that the app is as useless as it is, considering how much is lacking with the web software. It's really disappointing. Why even bother building an app if you're not going to make it useable and robust? Why is the calendar feature considered ancillary (to the point where you can't even change the view to day/week/month, something extremely basic) when the whole point of the software is to make it easier to manage everything from one place? It makes no sense. What a waste.

Our firm has worked with Actionstep for a year now and I believe this app represents the entire company’s approach.  Their browser experience is dated and was cool in 2015 but not now. The app is the same, it’s never updated. One singular effort and that’s it. This app may be better than what they had before in another time but feels like it was designed in 2008 and not updated since. The last update as of the time of this review (March 2022) was over eight months ago and there is limited functionality in this app already and no further efforts to improve. We are generally dissatisfied with Actionstep because nothing changes and the experience feels now very dated including this app. There seems to be no strategy at Actionstep for providing a road map for the iOS app or for the platform.

Generally good to quickly search contacts when looking for a client in a busy court house.

HOWEVER, when used on iPad there ought to be capabilities to view the app in landscape mode to type file notes etc. This is especially required when using the magic keyboard (cannot be used in landscape use).

ALSO, please work on some functionality to view PDFs from inside the matter. At the moment I do most of my ActionStep on a web browser when working from my iPad remotely.

I have never written a review like this before but I have to hand it to ActionStep.  They replaced an awful app with an excellent, highly functional version.  They listened to our complaints and acted.  Download this one.

The app cannot current change workflow steps. The workflow steps were the program derived its name. Move a matter from enquiry to closed, for instance. 
Additionally cannot create tasks from the app for support staff.
Cannot view documents saved on the Actionstep Cloud.
The absence of these three simple functions is really unforgivable.

The pros?
Can see contacts and call their mobile. 
You can make file notes.
But I could do that with a cover sheet from a file to be honest.
