## What is ActiScope?

ActiScope Field is the participant app for ROUTE- and TASK-based physical activity studies. Researchers, coaches and exercise professionals draw a route, place tasks along it and send it to the participant; in the field the participant opens the app, works through the steps in order, and the measurement is recorded automatically.

THREE RECORDINGS AT THE SAME TIME
· GPS — location, speed, distance and the route covered
· ACCELERATION — the phone's raw accelerometer data (movement intensity)
· HEART RATE — when a Bluetooth chest strap or arm sensor is connected; energy expenditure is calculated from it

Enter the participant code your researcher gave you; the app loads your programme and opens the route for that day. Before you set off you see the route on the map, what the session contains (how many exercises, questions, surveys, video or audio recordings) and you connect your sensor. The session starts at the start point, and the tasks then open one after another: information card, quiz, marked point, QR code, photo or video evidence, survey.

If the strap connects later, the app completes the recording on its own. When the session ends the data is uploaded to the researcher's dashboard; with no coverage the recording waits on the phone and is sent as soon as the network returns — field data is not lost.

WHAT YOU NEED
A participant code from your researcher. If you do not have a code yet, open the app in Demo mode to see how it works.

A heart rate sensor is optional; GPS and acceleration are recorded without one.

Taking part is voluntary: the app asks for informed consent before anything is recorded, your name is never entered, and you can withdraw at any time from Settings.

### 4.0 — 2026-09-03

Teacher mode: teachers see all their live routes, participant locations and each participant's current task on a map; tap a route for a live leaderboard (tasks completed + time). Images in guidance text now display. Minor improvements.

### 3.7 — 2026-09-02

• Renewed server infrastructure — faster, more reliable connection. (Older versions can no longer connect; please stay up to date.)
• Share your activity result directly to social media or contacts; sharing now always works.
• Improvements and bug fixes.

• Free Activity: record your walk/run without an invite code, and view your history and map. Your data stays on your phone only.
• A short field-safety reminder before you start a route.

• Calorie estimate now factors in your step cadence when no heart-rate strap is connected.
