## What is Activation Health?

Activation Health is the official companion app for the ACTIVATION research study at the University of Calgary, and other partner research institutions.                                           
                                                                                
  If you have been enrolled in the study by your care team, this app allows you to:                                                                           
                                                                                
  - Complete validated PROMIS recovery outcome surveys at scheduled intervals
  - Automatically share Apple HealthKit mobility and cardiovascular metrics with the research team
  - Track your recovery progress over time
  - Receive reminders for upcoming survey completions

  Your data is encrypted on-device and transmitted securely to University of Calgary research servers. Participation is voluntary and you may withdraw at any time.

  This app requires enrollment by a participating clinician and is not intended for general use. For questions about the study, contact your research coordinator or visit the study team at the University of Calgary, or your related institution.

  What's new in this build

  This release adds standalone use and a rebuilt enrollment flow. Please focus on:

  1. Standalone mode (no study required)
  - Launch the app fresh without joining a study. Confirm it requests HealthKit permissions and tracks your
  activity without prompting for a study code.
  - Check that Settings and the Surveys tab hide research-only options when you're not enrolled.

  2. Joining a study
  - Tap "Join a Study." Enter a study code and participant ID on the single combined screen. Confirm "Find
  My Study" stays disabled until both fields are filled, and that wrong codes show a specific error (study
  vs. participant not found) rather than a generic alert.
  - Complete the full consent form and confirm the screen dismisses automatically when done (no getting
  stuck on the participation screen).

  3. QR code enrollment
  - From the join screen, tap "Scan QR Code Instead." Scan an enrollment QR. Confirm it pre-fills your
  study/participant info and takes you straight to consent. Try an expired QR — it should tell you clearly.

  4. Activity comparison windows
  - On the Activity tab, use the calendar icon to switch comparison windows (this week vs last week / same
  week last month / last year, this month vs last month / last year). Confirm labels update and the
  selection sticks after restarting the app.

  5. Baseline history
  - After enrolling, confirm you get a notification when your health history finishes uploading to the
  study.
