## What is ActiveMind?

ActiveMind is not a step counter and it is not a meditation app. It is the answer to a smaller question: what should I do right now?

Tell it how you feel, or let it read your day from Apple Health, and it suggests something that actually fits. A short walk when you are flat. Something quiet when your body is carrying more than usual. Somewhere to go when the weather is good and you have an afternoon.

Saying how you feel takes one slide, and a few words about why if you want to add them.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

Most apps show you correlations. "You feel better on days you go outside." That sounds useful until you notice the problem: you go outside on days you already feel good, so nobody can tell which way it runs.

ActiveMind is the app that chooses what to suggest, so it can do something about that. The Lab runs a real experiment on your own days. For three weeks it flips a coin each morning. On some days it leads with the thing being tested, on others it stays quiet. You live normally either way. At the end you get a straight answer about whether it moved anything, and because the days were picked at random, that answer means something.

It will also tell you when something did nothing for you. That is a real result, and it saves you months on the wrong thing.

DAYS OUT, NOT JUST MINUTES

194 day trips built from the places actually around you, each one a short itinerary with real stops and times. Answer four questions about the kind of day you want and it picks one. Nearby towns are included, so a good afternoon is not limited to your own postcode. Everywhere you go gets pinned to a map of your own year.

WEATHER, AND WHAT IT DOES TO YOU

ActiveMind keeps a daily record of the sky next to how you felt, then tests which parts of it actually move you. Grey days, low pressure, short daylight, poor air. If a pattern turns out to be real for you, tomorrow's forecast starts taking it into account. If nothing shows up, it says so.

YOUR BODY, READABLE

Heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV, breathing rate and wrist temperature, each with its bands drawn so a number lands somewhere, and history you can drag through. Wrist temperature is shown against your own recent nights, because the raw number only tells you about your bedroom.

EVERYTHING ELSE

665 things to do, filtered by how much energy you actually have
Places near you worth walking to, open now and worth the walk
A forecast you can open: UV, humidity, wind, rain, pressure and conditions, hour by hour
Sleep sounds, breathing exercises, timers for the things you hold
A letter every Sunday, written from your own week
Mood check-ins that flow into Apple Health

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

Every analysis in this app runs on your phone. Your moods, your health data and your check-ins are not uploaded, not sold, and not shared. There is no account to make.

ActiveMind is not a medical device and nothing in it is a diagnosis. For anything that worries you about your health, talk to a clinician.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.2.1 — 2026-09-01

Your check-in, next to what your body was doing.

Finish a check-in and you now see the fortnight it asked about: how you
slept, your heart rate variability, your resting heart rate, your steps
and your own mood, each against your previous six weeks. It stays quiet
unless a gap is big enough to be worth a sentence, and it says these
things turned up together rather than claiming one caused the other.

All of it is read on your phone and sent nowhere.

A stress check that reads three things at once.

The stress check now returns three separate readings from one set of
questions: stress, anxiety and low mood. Every scale in the app credits
the researchers who wrote it, on the result itself.

Your rings, and what they actually mean.

Home shows exercise minutes and stand hours, plus flights climbed,
resting energy and blood oxygen. Tap it for the part Apple never explains:
exercise minutes are not time spent exercising, they are minutes your
watch judged were at least as hard as a brisk walk. Stand hours are not
hours spent standing, they are a count of hours you got up in. Twelve is
an ordinary day, not a feat of endurance.

Each ring gets a week of history, and days your watch spent on the
charger are drawn hollow instead of as a zero, because not wearing it is
not the same as not moving.

A check-in that takes one second.

Mind opens with the question it was already asking. Slide once to say how
the day feels, and add a few words about what put you there. Those words
stay on your phone. Apple Health has no room for them, so this is the
only place they live.

The mood chart shows a fortnight instead of a month. Thirty bars on a
phone are three pixels each, and nobody remembers a reason from four
weeks ago.

Weather that looks like weather.

The backgrounds were washing out to near white, which made a clear day
and an overcast one look identical. Every sky is rebuilt: real colour that
holds, stars on a clear night, and clouds you can actually see.

Explore finds things it was missing.

Museums, Libraries, Cinema, Historic, Parks, Gym, Coffee, Bars, Bowling
and Spa were all coming back empty in places that had plenty of them. The
searches behind those buttons now ask the question the right way round,
and they answer faster.

Also fixed: a message that said "Nothing within 30 miles" above a list of
places 13 miles away. And a lookup that could not reach its server used to
take over a minute to admit it. Now it takes seconds.

Day trips.

Three trips could never appear at all, because of a rule they could not
satisfy. They can now. Asking for pizza no longer sends you to a bar, and
there are new itineraries built around burgers, pizza and barbecue. A few
trips also ended on advice rather than a place, and those steps are real
stops now.

Your Sunday letter, shorter.

Every number in it was printed twice, once as a tile and again in a
sentence underneath. The tiles keep the numbers and the writing says the
part numbers cannot. Sleep also used to get two verdicts at once, calling
7.1 hours "a good average" and "not quite enough" in the same breath. It
picks one now.

### 2.2 — 2026-08-30

how the day feels, and add a few words about what put you there. Those
words stay on your phone: Apple Health has no room for them, so this is
the only place they live.

The daily check-in uses the same slider now, so the question looks the
same wherever you answer it.

satisfy. They can now. A few itineraries also ended on advice rather than
a place ("stay past the sunset"), and those steps are real stops now.

Every number in it was printed twice, once as a tile and again in a

### 2.0 — 2026-08-05

This is the biggest update ActiveMind has had.

THE LAB
Pick one thing, and the app tests it on you properly for three weeks. It flips a coin each morning to decide whether to suggest it, then compares those days against the rest. Random assignment is what separates "this helped" from "you did it on the days you already felt fine". You get a straight answer, including when the answer is that nothing happened.

WEATHER x YOU
The app now keeps a daily record of the sky beside your mood and works out which parts of it actually affect you. Confirmed findings start shaping the next day's outlook.

TOMORROW
An evening card that reads your strain, your HRV and tomorrow's forecast, then tells you what the day is likely to be and picks one thing to do about it.

BODY SIGNALS YOU CAN OPEN
Heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV, breathing rate and wrist temperature each open into a full reading with bands and scrubbable history. They used to be coloured dots.

A FULLER FORECAST
Six weather readings instead of four, adding pressure and conditions, and every one opens into 24 hours you can drag through.

ALSO
New sleep sounds, recorded rather than synthesised
Every activity description rewritten in plain language
One card design across the whole app
Sunday letters rebuilt around your whole week, not just your journal
Home is faster to open, and you can finally mark something done from it

FIXED
Mood was not reaching several features that depended on it, so insights, recommendations and weekly reviews were all quieter than they should have been
Weekly reviews scored zero steps for any past week
Explore's Hidden Gems shelf could never show anything

### 1.5 — 2026-06-16

Know how your body is doing. ActiveMind now reads your heart rate variability and resting heart rate from Apple Health to show how rested or run-down you really are, and your Body Battery reflects it. When your numbers suggest you might be fighting something off, it gently lets you know.

A clearer night's sleep. Your sleep breakdown is easier to read at a glance. Tap any step of Tonight's Wind-down to open the full guidance, and dig into the deeper stats only when you want them.

A whole new weather view. Readable numbers, a live sky that matches the real conditions, a 7-day forecast, air quality, sunrise and sunset, even the moon phase.

Calmer breathing. A new breathing orb glows and swells with every breath, joined by ambient sound and richer haptics that rise and fall as you inhale and exhale.

Mood at a glance. Your week of moods is now an easy-to-read trend line instead of guessing at icons.

More to learn. New reads on stress, burnout, and getting through the rough stretches.

Thanks for moving, thinking, and thriving with us.

### 1.4 — 2026-06-12

A fresh new look and a calmer Home. New logo and app icon, a simplified Home screen with your steps front and center, a cleaner design across the whole app, a redesigned Sleep view, a bigger article library, and lots of small polish. Thanks for being here
