This app helps you with the recording process, automatically compresses any video files, normalizes all the audio to boost the volume, and you can even send your recording to people outside of Casting Workbook. In under an hour I was able to compete my whole self-tape from a friend coming over to run lines and tape, to selecting the best takes to combining clips, uploading and getting immediate feedback from my agent. This app is a god send. Great job!!!! I can record and send my self tape audition to my acting coach before I submit. It’s super handy! The interface is pretty too, I like the pink :) ### 5/5 — Casting Workbook Self-tape App *2018-09-28, version 1.1.4* The app is so convenient. It simply streamlines the whole process of submitting self-tape auditions. I can only imagine how it frees up Casting Director's time, lol; "Next!" In all seriousness, it frees up my time too, as an actor. Self-tape video submissions saves me having to commute to studio auditions, battle rush hour traffic, search for parking, pay for gas, etc. I love it! ### 5/5 — I can’t sign up *2018-06-05, version 1.1.4* Hi, when I downloaded the app it just tell me to log in. Anytime I click anything it just crashes, all I can do is sign in and look at the screen. The moment I touch a button it crashes. I put in my phone number and instead of sending me a verification code, I just get a text saying “SMS_Message_Browser”. This app however I can not figure out what it is part of or affiliated. I would love to try it out, review and more. Clearly the app is part of something but what? A studio? A teacher? A class? Please let me and other potential users know. Thank you. Now I have to rate the app that I can’t use because I apparently need a login but you can’t create one, you’re given one ....but from where 🤦🏽‍♀️🤔🤷🏼‍♀️ so for now a 1 star. Right now, Casting Workbook is set up for professional working actors, talent agents and casting directors. They sign up on our website and then download the app as a part of a much bigger service. Your Casting Workbook Team ### 1/5 — Go back to the drawing board, please *2019-01-22, version 2.01* The app would just stop recording after a few seconds for no explained reason (my phone had lots of storage, so it wasn’t that). Sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes we got lucky and got to record for a full minute before it crashed again. Then the “trim” function wouldn’t work. Would say that it’s “trimming video”, but the nothing would happen. Super annoying. We all know how important self-tapes are. Please take down this app and fix it before letting us waste valuable time (that we won’t get back to audition again!). ### 1/5 — Won’t allow recording *2018-10-04, version 1.1.4* This app hasn’t ever worked for me? My information is all there but every time I try to record, the cancel button is superimposed right over it, so I can’t ever press it properly. This is so easy to use. My workflow is film self tape on phone, trim and crop video on my iPhone. Grab the edited clips on this app, make title page and combine the scenes. Order the scenes and then upload. Files go directly to my agent. It takes me less than 2 mins to put together a self tape submission (vs 30 mins using Final Cut Pro or iMovie).
